because it provides 0 benefit to anyone and only has drawbacks and grinding as a result which is not fun

honestly, patching the game ALL over the place AND than increasing the gear cap would probably be the straw that breaks the camels back...

We have a gear treadmill anyway. Sets and game mechanics change and new BiS options are released constantly.

Raising the gear cap would only make your old gear useless - and why would anyone want that? Most old sets are still totally serviceable dungeon gear regardless if it’s outshone by something new in an optimized raid setting.

All you’re asking for is the same story we have already but with a higher number on it. What is the point?

Just increasing gear cap will kill the game. There needs to be a legit, mutually beneficial reason

What's the end goal on increasing the gear cap?

Let's say, for argument sake, Zos increased the cap to 180.
You are now at 160, weaker. You regrind everything to 180 and now are at the same place power-wise where you were at 160...because this game has level scaling.
You've literally gained nothing...you're certainly not more powerful than you were at 160... because of level scaling. You've lost all the previous gear you've grinded and now have to regrind, that is, if you'd even put the effort forth knowing the cap may increase in the future and you'd have to do the grind nonsense all over again.

You gain nothing in power and lose everything you've previously worked for.

Cannot understand the appeal of this idea. It's so stupid it boggles the mind....

If this would actually occur it would be the death of ESO. Great idea..../s 😖

Edit: Unless your goal is actually to make people quit in droves. In that case, perfect plan....

Zos should remove people from the forums that don't play the game anymore.

I don’t think you could reasonably expect to remove ALL the devs from their own forums. 😇

ZoS doesn't want to raise the gear cap because they know it will just *** everyone off. Gear already shifts around too much with the constant nerfs (and the fact that they refuse to actually balance the sets so they are all usable), we don't need something else forcing us to rebuild every few months.

I don't think gear shifts around that much. The likes of hundings, Julianos etc have been the staples for years now. I get some dropped sets shift from time to time, but it happens rarely and when it does, that gear eventual comes back around again. The prime example of that being Mother's Sorrow. Was in fashion, then went back out of fashion for a few months, then returned well over a year ago and it's still here. If anything, there's not enough shifting as far as gear goes. The same old garbage sets still remain garbage sets.

Nooooooooope. Bad idea. There would be no point. You would have the same stats. CP160 gear is fine.

/r/mmorpg (a bunch of jaded MMO "vets" who are still trying to relive the glory days of UO and EQ) argue that a gear treadmill would actually save ESO and GW2. In fact, there was a big front page post recently about how ESO and GW2 have ruined the MMO genre with level scaling and horizontal progression.

I always find it comical when old school gamers can't wrap their heads around non-level based progression in a game. Level-based progression is incredibly outdated. It's simply a low-cost alternative to actually developing progressively more fun and challenging content.

There was a big uprising when they decided to increase gear from vet 14 to vet 16. Annoying and pointless regrind.

Also, the move from 14 to 16 didn't really increase our power. Our Vet 14 gear was nerfed, and we needed to farm back up to V16 to get back to where we were.

No, that's Bungie. But, wait, now, the soft cap is 900, the hard cap is 950, and the raid cap is 970, go grind my pretties. What the **** is a raid cap?

That's how level/gear-based progression works in every game, yet many gamers don't see that. You never actually get stronger. You just need to reach a new level/farm new gear so that you can do content that was the same difficulty as content at the previous level cap.

You're only "progressing" in your head. Your character isn't actually getting any stronger.

One of the things I brought up when I was there. As part of a gear chase? Okay. But, that mat inflation makes zero sense today.

It does, actually, depend. In some cases, stat inflation keeps parity with new content, but it makes old content progressively easier, assisting newer players trying to "catch up." But, that's not how ESO works.

They should remove CP from items anyway, and they can do it in a way that doesn't result in refarming.

Double the level cap from 50 to 100.
Remove CP160 and make it Level 100.
Double the level of every character in the game that is sitting on 50 to 100.

Don't increase the skills dropped to 100 but increase the attributes to 100, but not their total output. IE 64 ATT = 100 ATT worth of stats.

CP successfully depeg'd from items, nobody needs to refarm their top tier items.

I'll also add that the distance between levels should be reduced a bit so the path to 100 is not a grind, but it shouldn't be so quick it rains levels from the sky.

Hello. It`s been about year since I have not been playing this game. I would return but only if champion rank for items would go to 1000 or so.
Is there any information when the champion rank for items will be reworked?

Since you aren't coming back, can I have your gold & mats? :D

Gear cap increase = bye bye ESO. I won't spend a year doing PvE stuff to get my gear back to be able to PvP.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.
