I can make an argument that a story driven patch is more popular then adding a new dungeon, battleground, or trial which I feel “few people care about”.
But yeah, the combat team is the biggest detriment to the game at the moment.

Its an MMO RPG progressing and looking fancy is what most players care about, If you want story there are other games that give way better story content. Also even if you care about the story, you should finish it in a couple of hours then the DLC becomes useless

I can make the same argument for the “Dragon” dungeon dlc which just came out and be far more accurate about a dlc becoming useless.

Although I hate how they have to turn around everything concerning combat every 3 months.
And I would much rather get a story rather than two shi*ty dungeons or a new trial.

Yeah and this is why Q4 DLCs always had both story and some end game content of higher rank then just dungeons. Now there will be a year long gap between Sunspire trial and next game end trial/arena type of content which will be very boring for many because story wise You're done with the stiory pretty fast and then there will be whole winter of nothing to do.

It may have seemed overpowered for the Elite, but now finally medium players were starting to complete and enjoy content they could never do before. It was healthy for the game and for attracting players. HMs are there for those who want an extra challenge which rely more on mechanics than actual dps, now we are back to locking the harder to content to only the elite few

Exactly.
Which was one reason to nerf the crap out of it.
If DPS numbers are what matters, I suppose the game should be like 6 times more enjoyable to me now than when I played it at launch.
It is not.
Everything in the game is completable. Really the biggest obstacle is finding enough other people to actually do the dungeons / trials with. The devs have been nutters in the past, but this patch from what I´ve seen looks like it makes more sense than almost all previous ones. Honestly, if your main thing about a update is that you are looking forward to seeing bigger numbers on your screen, there are other games that do this. Or just type in 10^x as a screensaver, 'x' being the number of weeks since you started doing it. There, weekly enjoyment.
You need those numbers to complete speed run stuff

I know of only 1 (one) achievement people have been complaining about, and that one is apparently possible to complete anyway, so...
You want hard? Try beating Vector TDx with no hacks. You can warm up with Kobayashi Maru
