I don't know. Looks promising enough for my set-up. Extra damage when things are going well, extra survivability when not so well. Haven't quite decided exactly how I want to work it in to try it out though. I'll do that once it goes live.

But then I tend to avoid the really difficult endgame stuff. Particularly anything with leaderboards. It's not that I'm scared of them or anything. It's just that past experience has taught me that I really don't care for endgame groups. So meta level optimization is not as much of an issue.

Akaviri Dragonguard is not the best set but it is a good set to boost group DPS since it will help you use your warhorn faster. It works better on DK since DKs need the extra magicka recovery.

Personally, I dont care what the so called "top tanks" use and dont use and what their resistances are. These guys dont tank in pug. They tank in well organized and balanced groups and know that when they will enter a dungeon or a trial, they will receive good healing and have good DDs to finish the job faster. Try doing vet Depths of Malatar , Fang Lair, MoonHunter Keep or Scalecaller Peak with weak DDs or a healer that will forget to heal, with your physical resistance at 20k and tell me how that goes. In pug, there are times where you are on your own and have to be able to self-sustain and stay alive.

In all non-DLC vet dungeons and normal DLC dungeons, I use Ebon+Torug's+Thurvokun's. In vet DLC content, I use Ebon+Leeching+Warden or Thurvokun.

ouch. seemed like a great set for leveling. guess not so much now.

I always recommended that set as training gear for upcoming Tanks. But you see, there is a tendency of ruining the good stuff in this game.

Tanking is quite difficult. When you first start doing normal dungeons, everything gets mowed down so fast that you can't even stack the enemies.

When you get to veteran dungeons, it's easier to practice tanking on the base game dungeons as not everything dies as fast as on normal or have any unusual mechanics you have to remember.

Suggestion for beginner tanks:
-Fortified brass
-Orgnum's Scales
-Monster set if applicable (if you are NOT cp 160 then craft or have someone craft you any 2 piece set with more hp)

The sets above are both craftable and is what I used a long time ago when I first started tanking and didn't have any gear from dungeons yet. Fortified brass will get you to hit your resistances cap helping you with overall damage mitigation and Orgnum's Scales will give you more hp and ridiculously high hp recovery that will give you a lot of breathing room in case you make mistakes.

It's okay if you're new to tanking. It is hard.

When you start to feel more comfortable, another set I liked was Brands of Imperium. Great set to use in Veteran dungeons as when you take damage, it gives you and your entire team within 8 meters a HUGE damage shield. I can't tell you how many times that saved an ally's life during a vet DLC HM dungeon.

You can choose any sets you want while you are learning. Meta sets are hard to take advantage of as a new player. You need to gain some experience in how to manage your damage mitigation, resources, and have the ability to keep all of the enemies off of your team as much as possible all while not dying.

I'm sorry this post is super long but I read through the comments above and they didn't seem very informative. The best way to learn tanking is by experimenting. Try out different sets that interest you. Find out what your strengths and weaknesses are and hopefully by then, you'll be ready to start getting the meta tank builds.

Experience is more important than having the meta gear. If you're a damn good tank, it doesn't matter what sets you wear.

Case in point: vImperial City Prison, had a vampire dark elf DK tank wearing Ebon and Burning spellweave. This guy was able to hold all of the mobs away from the team and was dealing significant damage on his own. It was a unique build but he was able to complete a vet DLC dungeon with that build.

Good luck and remember to have fun! Don't get overwhelmed with all of the choices. Pick what you like until you're comfortable running the meta sets (if you plan on doing vet/vetHM trials).
