For me it was about book and to lesser degree a statue. Both I would say paid for the extra cost of IE many times over (although I wish statue was sturdier). As for in-game benefits? Gold saved on a horse, great universal racial skills of Imperial and freedom to pick any alliance regardless of race paid for itself too. Don't care much about in-game envy personally. I prefer when things have to be earned, such as prestige, and that it requires a lot of hard work. Everything accomplished then feels like it has value. If you want an easy grind fest with no no challenge, or don't want rewards you can be proud of, play some Wow. As for overall value of IE, I would love to get a suitcase full of gold with my purchase as well, but hey, can't have everything. :)

Best extra $20 I ever spent.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Imagine how much the average person wastes on "useless" stuff, like candy, beer, resturants etc. every week.
Probably way more than the cost of imperial edition.

Keep in mind that imperial edition stays with you forever, the one night at the bar is just, well one night.
    Worth it imo.

I dont think this belongs in the crafting discussion..

IMO, imperial edition is worth it just for the "play any race, any faction" feature. I didn't have the money to but the imperial edition when it came out so I bought the standard. Now I am forced into playing my third-choice race just because all my close friends are playing on a certain faction. Its a serious role-play kill and I am considering moving factions. Idk if they're every planning on making this feature available to non-imperial players but I hope they do.

No not really......Considering the only valuable item in the pack was the horse which you could have gotten for 14.99 from a gold farmer it was not. Shame though I guess the early access counted for something but the CE maps were useless none of the gear was of any quality.

I wish I hadn't bought it. All I use from it is the horse. I dont wanna be an imperial, the scroll of mara went right into the trash as XP is already OUTRAGEOUSLY fast, and the pet I forget about 90% of the time. Wish I'd saved my 20 bucks, but oh well, whats done is done. I wish there'd been an imperial vendor similar to SWTOR's collectors edition vendor that sold a few fluffy items only available to imperial edition owners, however then people who didnt buy it would claim pay2win on fluff items like usual.

I am glad I didn't buy it. I wanted it only for the armor (though the horse is a nice bonus). Now I already have the Imperial motif and about enough cash to buy a horse. The only reason I got the explorer pack was so I could start any race character in any alliance.

Not sure what the OPs point is though...you want to be able to pay money so people will envy you? I don't get it. I prefer that vanity stuff be limited to in-game accomplishments myself. If anything, the Imperial edition gave too much.

PS: You get to play as an actual Imperial. That is something no one else can do who did not buy the Imperial Edition. So there is that.

OK, my original post got long winded, the point was the look of gear of imperial race is unique and Id just have liked it to stay unique to those who bought the imperial edition. Of all the things i would, say keep your horse, just leave me the armor for my race...now anyone with that motif has it...imperial really is only imperial because of the look his gear not really because of the fact that you can play as one.

I understand this seems like a stupid gripe but its my point of view, if anything its interesting to hear everyones ideas and feeback.

I thought the Imperial Gear was exclusive too, but well... My gain, I own a standard copy and a motif. Don't want a horse or imperial or transmog.

Couldn't justify myself buying the Imp.Edition.

As I also said before, yeah you get to play an imperial but so what, you can play any race and do any role or class, thats nice sure so racial while nice arent or wont be later with balancing that they WILL bring in, have such a huge impact on your perfomance.

I also didnt get the physical copy so I guess that would have made it worth it more sure, but I just feel that the imperial design is from its armor look which is available to everyone, that kinda just spoilt it for me.

As I also mentioned, transmog is gonna get demanded and those with imperial motif already learned would be able to mog their gear to look imperial, making that the imperial edition people lose the mog and armor to regular version of the game, I know im speculating and its not now and we dont know what the future holds, but with what I have seen from mmos they always demand that gear can be transmogged and it comes in at some point because lets face it most hate the clown suit of mismatched armors...

    nway, once again my opinion

I think it is because of the imperial armor. The OP would like the imperial motif to be removed so that the only people able to craft in the imperial style would be the ones with access to the imperial edition. I bought it because I wanted a white horse, and while I got pretty mad when they changed the bonus (after I bought it) and removed the T2 white horses, making it so that now we can only buy a basic white horse, I do not regret it.

Well, you already knew in advance that was not going to happen. They made this known well in advance of launch. "Imperial" was part of the motifs that were in the game.

What you got with the Imperial edition was to be able to play the real thing...the Imperials have a racial look and have passives that other players will never get. So in that way, it is a status item for you. No one else can get those things except the people who bought the Imperial edition. People can wear the armor, but they will not be actual Imperials.

I make plenty of money and can afford to buy it. I chose not to because I like having to work for stuff. I finally did get the Imperial motif as a drop and it was awesome. Being able to convert any armor to Imperial armor actually made the product less appealing to me.
    N0madS0uL wrote: »

Which is exactly as it should be. No racial armor is unique to anyone in this game.

And, IMO, you have no right to be offended. The DEVs made no secret of this. It was public knowledge. It makes sense both from a lore and practical standpoint.

You are entitled to you opinion. IMO you need to get over it. Your demands are unreasonable. And you most certainly were not ripped off. You got exactly what you paid for and you were not lied to. None of this was a secret. I knew all of this well before launch when I chose to buy the Standard digital edition.

Pre-order bonuses are like buying a fast track pass to skip the queues at a theme park. If you're regretting buying it now then you really should learn from the experience. I chose not to buy it personally and saved up the gold for my horse (didn't get it until level 46) and I will need to do the same for my alts. It was hard work but I dont regret it. The Imperial motif was also hard to find at a fair price.

The one concern I do have is that the high cost of horses will feed the gold seller market.. as one poster already commented it's going to be very tempting for people to just buy the gold especially for the more casual market. Best thing they could do is put a level requirement on the 47k horses.

Book alone worth the money, have you read it? 1G horse to start you off? Finding it great bonus. Rings of Mara? Nice touch for those with GF's/Spouses/BFF, Statue? Not really into dust collecting plastic but, the book, its ffen gorgeous - a real nice thing to own and likely costly to produce.

£80 was cheap for what the Imp Edition gave, esp compared to Skyrim's CE @ £130 for plastic Alduin.

@SadisticSavior as I said I never spent so much on a game before so to me it felt a bit like a let down simply going out from the POV that imperial motifs should IMO be exclusive to imperial edition. You can't say its got anything to do with lore either, the lore only says yes there are imperials, all I thought was that I would have preferred the imperial armor an unique item bound to imperial accounts, but its not like that, its just an discussion and as another poster said its a learning experience buying these more expensive editions, still I appreciate many of the perks, this particular one was just more what I would have liked to have stayed unique to the imp edition, other than that, I don't feel I was lied to nor did i say anyone lied to me, i wasn't aware even if it was public knowledge that imp motifs would be available to everyone.

I am merely curious to know what everyone else thinks not just from my POV but their own. I am not sorry i bought it and I do enjoy the game.

EDIT: I am sorry I couldn't get the physical edition, I am sure I would have felt differently about the imp if i did. Thx though for all the comments

It should not be a let down. Thats my point. This is something you should have known before buying it. It wasn't a secret.

Nowhere, anywhere, was it ever even implied that Imperial stuff would be exclusive to certain people buying a certain product.

It makes perfect sense that non-magic crafts could be replicated by other races. All the motifs in the game can be replicated by anyone.

If I was going to play a stamina character I'd be tempted to buy the Imperial edition to play as an imperial (and get their passives).
    N0madS0uL wrote: »

Well, I think it is clear at this point. We understand your argument but don't agree with you. I personally would be annoyed if the DEVs had made Imperial motifs available only to people who paid for them, even though I can afford it. It would look like a money grab and make the game less appealing. IMO the playing field should be as level as possible in MMOs. Stuff should be earnable, not buyable.
