Great! More things bobbing/floating about in front of your face at the bank. More things to block access to writ chests, bankers and crafting stations. 💩

Hey, I think they are beautiful! Then again, beauty is in the eye of the Beholder, er Watcher.

Most of us are disgusted with the gem system, and crown crates in general.

What is so off putting about a monthly fee for everyone? Like mandatory ESO+ for everyone? Everyone wants to jump on a game that is free to play after initial purchase, but with the greedy pandering of ZOS and our constant criticism on performance, just make the game have a mandatory fee! It would give ZOS a steady income stream so they wouldn't have to worry so much about selling their souls on the crown store and could have more freedom to focus on other things.

Some players would absolutely jump ship if they were required to pay, but when the player base is just disgusted with how things are it can't be good for ZOS morale.

ESO was, at launch and for some time afterward, a subscription-required MMO. I know, because I subscribed then, and continue to subscribe now. That said, it wasn't popular in the long run, so the mandatory part was dropped.

But the game has also gone through a ton of changes to make it more popular since then. ESO was not popular due to a monthly fee, it was unpopular due to being a bad game, which yes at that point no one would want to pay 15 bucks a month for it.

So I caved this weekend and bought the pet. I thought I'd share my experience since I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up only needing to buy 2x 15-packs as I was getting around 150 gems per 15 crates instead of the usual 100. I started with only 11 gems and hadn't opened any of this season prior. Along the way I got 4 mounts, three of which were from the most expensive "new moon" variety, plus several pets, costumes, mementos, etc. Since the crowns were bought back during the last sale, I didn't do too bad coming in around $60 for all that. As usual YMMV.

60 dollars for a pixel pet is insanely greedy.

60 dollars for 4 mounts, three of which were from the most expensive "new moon" variety, plus several pets, costumes, mementos, etc AND Watcher. Mind you, that separately all these items would've cost much higher. You all talk about direct purchases but if you had those you would whine about high prices on them.

I saw it with another player, thought it was really well drawn / animated. Went to crown store, saw it in the "featured" section and thought it said 300 crowns. Decided that was cheap and bought it straight away.

Didn't realize it was 300 GEMS until I saw this thread.... Wow. Got me some expensive bling there. I didn't even know they put "gem items" in the "featured" section; I thought those were always down in the Crates section of the store. I know better now.

I do like it, but would not have intentionally paid 300 Gems for it. But my own fault for not paying attention!

Also a big plug here for the "Pet Zone" addon, which automatically hides pets in combat / dungeons / delves / trials, as well as switching them for zones if desired. Would be nice if it auto-hid them near crafting stations as well.

I saw one the other day in Elsweyr and thought it looked rather spindly and crap tbh

I bought it. I've been sitting on a few hundred gems for ages now, waiting for something to come along to spend them on, and this little guy fits my daedra collection perfectly.

It's an awesome little pet! It's large enough to stand out but not large enough to really get in the way. It has some cute moves, and makes some really weird noises. I'm pleased with it.

Personally, I take more issue with the flash-sale nature of the sale than the price. It's an expensive pet, but I have no problem supporting the game by spending my cash on it. And that's exactly how I see it; I don't buy Crates for their specific rewards, I buy Crates to acquire gems, and whatever else comes is a pleasant surprise. That's not to say that I like Crates, per say, but that's how I personally handle them. I don't hunt Apex Radiants like so many do.

I do, however, have an issue with artificial scarcity being used to create a false sense of exclusivity. I would much rather these kinds of items remained in the Crown store for much longer, so that people could have the chance to save up for them. In a week, when the sale is gone, I will get no more joy out of knowing that my pet is a flash-sale exclusive than I'm already getting.

Which is a LOT of joy, because he's awesome. I named him Czaxakluth, and he whispers eldritch secrets about the universe when asked nicely.

Thanks for all the replies and respecting other opinions, this thread could have descended into something else. It seems this pet and its pricing has (understandably) split opinion. For those that have it I hope you enjoy it, I for one think it looks great and it's nice to see a new style of pet. I really hope it doesnt get devalued by now being reskinned in white, black etc for a quick cash grab. For those that refuse to buy it despite really liking it...I understand your anger on this too. And for those that dont like it that's cool too, let's all agree to just turn them off in dungeons and trials because that animation is hectic. ;-) Thanks again

I got the senche mount, but I had to cash in a bunch of crown XP scrolls and a resplendent sweetroll to do it :/

And I haven't even felt comfortable riding it around because of the ridiculous price tag, which is sad because she goes well with my orange tiger-striped Khajiit characters! :s

Flaunt your style! No ones judging ya, I wish I saw someone riding that just so I could admire it!

I have only seen one person with Watcher pet so far. Not the best screenshot, but I wasn't interested in chasing the person :/

The pet is rather small and noisy, I don't like this... For such high price, the Watcher should be large and be able to attack enemies (or at least critters) :)

Omg if it zapped critters that would be hilarious!

I too think its far too expensive, but if not for saving my crowns and gems for the limited run of the Halloween crates (and one of those skeletal mounts for my necro) i may have gotten it. ah well.

I sometimes have a problem with compulsive buying when it comes to the crown store, but I would check myself in for a doctor's appointment if I spent a single coin of real money on buying crates to buy these items.
