Tank in battlegrounds

Can anyone tell me if it makes sense play a role of tank in battlegrounds in solo q, to maybe not kill, but to "bother" the enemy team with stuns, Snares and etc to give to my team more options to survive and kill?
Maybe to also in some maps to protect and hold flags and etc...
Can anyone with experience give me some advices please?

✭✭✭Yea it’s viable. Difficult part in pvp is getting people not to ignore you. PvP tanks have been a thing since the inception of MMO pvp.
Typically they’re DKs but I actually think Necros would be better at it. Stand on flags, and in other games disrupt or whatnot. Necros have that OP fear and major defile as tools.
Another option would be a mag sorc tank. Issue with pvp tanks in DM BGs is any disrupting isn’t necessarily going to help your team win, just down the disrupted person/team. Yes. Group support builds are helpful and disrupt other players effectivness. Extra heals, roots and buffs/debuffs are part of optimizing a successful run.1 -

✭✭✭Especially in BG, you will 100% find people who get caught up in trying to kill that guy who just won't die.4 -

✭✭Depends on the team you get, if they are the type that go off on their own to try and get kills but only get themselves killed, you won't achieve much, since the other teams will quickly figure out your no threat and ignore you or leave you to last.
If how ever they know how to at very least stay in a group your support can turn the tide of a match, had a match a long time ago, in which my DK tank had the engine guardian monster set, spamming Igneous shields and echoing vigor triggering engine guardian for more resources being able to spam one or the other for a group that knew how to stay together.
I kept up the damage shields and heals for the 3 DPS, they annihilated everything in our path, whenever the other teams tried to attack me, I could just heal through their attacks while the DPS took them out as well. Scoreboard was 500 to us the other teams around 100 each from killing each other, only had one DPS die in are team, we just moved back to the spawn point to regroup and carried on.
But outside of a pre made its rare to get that kind of luck with random groups.1 -
EngineeringElf✭✭✭Most PvP tanks that I know que into the flag and land grab games. Seems useful as a ball carrier in chaos ball or a relic guard/runner duty. Not sure how much fun or success it would be as a solo que deathmatch as a tank.0 -

Yeah tanks can be effective in battlegrounds. Aside from guarding flags (which you mention), running or guarding relics and doing that chaos ball thing - you can also act as a shield to obstruct or distract enemy attacks or lure attacking enemies into ambushes. They aren't quite as effective in death matches. But you can still have some fun with it.0 -

✭As a solo queuer, they can do some good in flag and control games, but they will not be very effective in DM. Players will learn to ignore you.
However, if you can't get kills or survive as anything but a tank, yet want to BG nonetheless, go ahead and tank it up. Better to go 3 and 1 than 5 and 12.“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”0
