Do you think we will ever get a Elder Scrolls Movie?

Actually, probably not. Historically game-inspired movies (actually most of inspired-by-something movies) have deviated significantly from the base and also not done well.
They'd have to step up their game a heck of a lot. And looking at Summerset and Murkmire especially, I don't think the current crew can do it.
Plus you need to somehow cram in an introduction to the IP for people who don't know it at all. It'd be tough.

A miniseries on Netflix to start might help -- introduce the IP, gauge interest, then try to do a movie.

The movie idea is pretty much a pipe dream but figured it would make for an interesting thread. Movies based off books or games, etc historically are terrible, I agree for many of your same reasons.

I still think it would be cool to see one of our favorite games on the big screen...this is just my opinion though.

Would all the protagonists cry when they turn up to beat the final enemy and suddenly their light attacks don’t fire?

Would the camera Angles suddenly show scenery going through a wall?

I don’t see the point at all, any more than a point in books as spin-offs of games.

ESO is a fantastic MMO....let’s keep it that way, as a game.

Dunno if sarcasm but this movie was awesome ( maybe it still is ? I need to rewatch )

Now would you have a totally different cast or would you have the same voice actors as some of the chars that appear in the game ?

I don't think TES would make for a good movie, tbh. Bethesda/Zenimax are free to try to prove me wrong, but I'm of the opinion that-

    1. There's just way too much going on with the TES lore to be able to focus on any one event, have it be coherent, and fit within a 2 to 3 hour timeframe for a movie, and;

    2. It really wouldn't do anything that I would consider "unique enough" as a medieval fantasy movie to make it stand out from other franchises like LotR, GoT, the Witcher, or even Warcraft for the average audience. It would really only be noticeably different to the more hardcore TES Lore fans.

All in all, the TES series are great games, but a TES movie would be a big financial risk and I just don't see anyone being willing to risk enough money to make it worth watching.

I would love an elder scrolls movie!

The story of the Indoril Nerevar during the beginnings of the tribunal and the war with the dwemer.

Then the next movie could tell the tale of the nerevarine during TES III

A trilogy about the tribunal is what we would get.

Even if I’d rather see a different story line, that’s the one that has the most movie potential.

I doubt we will get a movie but if one were to be made I’d say it’d need to:
    A. be an obscure part of the timeline like ESO/or set in another timeline altogether (like what people are saying about the rumoured Gears of War movie)
    And
    B. It needs to be done the right way otherwise it’ll flop. I mean everything even the filming needs to go a certain way for it to be successful (this point is hard for me to explain)

If they did a story like Talos or Pelinal, as much as I’d love a Pelinal movie, I don’t think it’d be successful, too much lore to go wrong with in their backstories.

Of course all this being said, they could make all the trailers for ESO into a film, already has a 40min run time, fill in the blanks between each trailer and there’d be a good hour and 40 maybe 2 hour movie...

I disagree, I think it would be much wiser to base the movie around what the fans know and can relate to. At least for the first movie. You want the movie to fill the viewer with nostalgia.

Good thing about an epic feature length movie is you can fit in tons of extra detail and story. Fill in gaps to the story we experienced in our personal playthroughs.

I’ll be watching the movie while trying to skip ahead in the dialogue to simulate actual game play. Might have to wait for it to come out on DVD for that.

I fear it would be just a generic fantasy plot with endless fanservice. Fitting the interesting parts of the lore into a 2-3 hour movie would require it to get real weird real fast, and that's unlikely to happen when you have to sell Alfiq plush toy merchandise.

A series might work though, like the new Witcher series.

Disaster at Ionith would be a great framework, or they could develop an original story during the Great War. Most people are already familiar with the players there, e.g. the Thalmor.

While there is plenty of lore to base a story on I doubt it will happen. the IP is to small to support it as well as the WoW movie was supported and of course SW IP is even larger than that.

It would be awesome.. downside is what part would you put in the movie?
Trying to boil down ESO into a 1hr30m movie would be very difficult if you wanted the audience to have any hope in heck of understanding whats going on.

Could The Elder Scrolls make a good movie? Yes. Absolutely. No question. It could most definitely make a fantastic movie. There is so much they could do with it and so much lore to draw from, it could be a whole series of great movies that are right up there with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

Will it be a great movie if it were made? Ehhhhh..... Hollywood doesn't exactly have a great track record translating games into movies. Often times they will either half-ass the job, put together a hollow shell that you would have to have thoroughly played the games to understand, or try to shove way too much of the game into the movie creating a convoluted disaster that even hardcore fans can't follow. Or worse, they will create some kind of abomination that is Elder Scrolls in name only.

    No Khajiit :(

ZOS has shown they can make nice long video clips. They just need to make a fully featured 2h one.
But the main character has to be Khajiit, otherwise booooooooooo :D

And there are some great storlylines and characters like Rhazum-dar and what he did in the Argonian temple riding naked a guar :D

To me, it'd be based on following the PC's adventures thru the various ages of Tamriel's history, the same way that the game PC interacts with the NPC's in the various games. Finally, the PC discovers that he has been living various lives in the various ages without realizing it, being opposed by all of the main villains throughout the ages, that have all been working in concert with each other against him. Perhaps he discovers that the Moth Priests have been controlling or guiding him through the ages, in order to preserve the history/future of the Elder Scrolls themselves. But then I just realized that this starts to sound a bit like the Guardians of the Universe on Oa in the DC universe.

It might be pretty difficult to pull off a story-line like that, especially from a lore standpoint, but I dunno. I'm kinda hoping that the stand-alone game series may tie things up something like that when the series comes to its conclusion.

With all the lore the Elder Scrolls series has, from Arena to ESO, and considering we've only had about three legit good video game movies, a movie is NOT a good idea.

A TV series, on the other hand...I think could work. If done right. As long as the right care was to put into it. And people like Uwe Boll or Benioff & Weiss stayed away from it.
