How to discover if someone is cheating in BGs?

Sometimes i come across players that 1 shot me and just seem to do insane amount of damage. I dont know if cheating is a thing in this game, but is there a way to spot someone that does cheat? Is that even a thing? Ive heard people mention "Macros" - i dont know what that is - i used macros a lot in wow , but apparently this is a bad thing in ESO?

✭✭✭✭✭If you really want an opinion you can try using Shadowplay or something and then post the clip here to ask what people think. Lots of people swear that cheating is rampant but I disagree and a lot of experienced players will tell you that real cheating does happen but it’s relatively very rare. It’s very easy to nearly one shot inexperienced players in no CP. Also it probably wasn’t a one shot. It could have been something like big ult along with DoTs ticking at the same time, it could have also been a fast combo of attacks. It also could have been lag making the abilities appear to queue up all at once. People do use macros but typically for things like robotic LA weaving or bash cancelling. There is a global cool down of 1 second and macros cannot help you bypass that so they don’t help a bunch of abilities land all at once. Imo get off the cheating wagon and instead focus on learning to play the game well.13 -

scubasteve28✭✭If you're on pc you can download combat metrics and set a key bind for combat statistics. It will show you what hit you and for how much as well as if it crit or not.1 -

✭✭I think it's the NB they have builds that unload a ton of damage in an instant from a sneak attack. It is really quite unfair as there is very little to nothing you can do if it happens to you, at least in my experience.2 -

I can tell what the answer isn't. It isn't come to the forums and expect to not be attacked and belittled and have the slew of deniers deny any possibility of cheating in game with little to no active cheat scanning.7 -

✭✭✭Most cheats aren't for damage stacking... lag and good timing of attacks (like warden's shalk/Dizzy/dawnbreaker combo) will do it for you.
Cheating is watching a player glitch themselves (intentionally) inside a wall where they can attack you, but you cannot attack them. Or using Templar skills with a Sorc pet out. (yes, saw it years ago, pretty sure it's fixed now)Edited by CaffeinatedMayhem on October 8, 2019 4:57PM1 -

✭✭✭If macros are cheating then there definitely are cheaters. You can spot them because you’ll see no animations ever. No amount of being good will allow perfectly timed light attacks and animation cancelling... always surrounding stamina burst combos.Looking for any guildies I used to play with:

If you analyse the incoming damage and this is not the case, it is likely multiple attacks were hitting at the same due to performance problems. This isn't entirely true as macros do help with timing. The better the player the less a macro will help and there is a point where a player becomes good enough the macro offers no help. I know a couple of players that use light attack macros and they are a huge help for them. The players both have arthritis in their hands so kind of an extreme example of a macro helping but it illustrates the point that macros do help and can give advantage over players that do not use them.and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."3 -

If you are very experienced in PvP you can kill people insanely fast but it takes lots of practice, well at least before the dot meta.

✭If you're lucky they'll be blatant about it. I saw a StamDK in bgs one time using crystal frags and dropping meteors that would one-shot people through block. He later admitted to using cheat engine, but i'm not sure if anything ever happened to him.Xbox NA healer main

Oh okay than...
Ya this is a known issue...that ZoS attempts to fix but never does
On the attackers screen...they fire off multiple Snipes...all looks normal
On your screen...you hear a single snipe than you die...than you hear rest of Snipes land...
It is broken and has been for years
Defensively you need to watch for incoming attack icons to appear and when you hear that First snipe sound
Dodgeroll
Just gotta train yourself to do it reflexively
Spot the sniper n Stun/charge them

Yes this skill is notoriously bugged. It causes large amounts of lags as well as health desyncs and will appear as if you’ve been insta-killed. It’s been known for a long time and ZOS has been unable to fix it though apparently they’ve tried. Snipe can also be very hard hitting in no CP anyway. But this is a great example of how jumping to the conclusion of cheating is almost always false.0 -

Other then that very obvious cheat i guarantee you that everything you think is cheats, is actually one of those things:
-skill/gear/cp gap
-lag
-perfect oneshot combo
-health desync

There is no way you, the player, can actually confirm or deny a cheat user period dot end. Anything you see from your client can be explained by bugs, network glitches, etc etc etc. Even a video is not the "final word" though it can be a great place for a programmer to see where their code might be exploited.
Realistically the "best" cheaters in any video game do not do "super" cheats. Super is easy. It is as visible as a 1m lumen spotlight to the eyeballs. What "real" cheaters do is cheat by inches. Say you could give yourself optimal stamina regen. This would be dam**d hard to prove but it could provide a huge advantage depending on how it was used.0 -
