Grappling Points (possible dragonhold spoiler)

The dragonguard grappling bow worked fine for me throughout the story quests. I've found a few grappling points out in the world now, but I'm not seeing any option to use them. Has anyone been able to use them after finishing the storyline? Is there some side quest somewhere that unlocked it permanently?

Dude... use spoiler alerts... really. The moment you said about grappling bow my mind has already predicted several different scenarios of which I'm sure one is the one from game.

I've edited the title, but I'm not sure how I can change the content and still convey what I need to. It was a legitimate question for other testers trying to troubleshoot issues in the PTS forum. It was already shown on the ESO Live stream and I honestly didn't see it spoiling anything. I am sorry if it ruined something for you. Just trying to make sure everything works so people can enjoy the update when it goes live. :/

??? Why is someone that's touchy about "spoilers" looking around on the PTS forum?? You do so at your own risk.
No one needs to be giving "spoiler alerts".

Spoiler alerts are still common practice since many test on the PTS but avoid the story line. Pretty common actually.

Sure, it could be a polite thing to do.
But it definitely should not be expected or demanded or complained about when "spoiler alerts" aren't given.
Stay away from PTS forums if you [you = anyone] don't want spoilers. Don't complain to the commenters if you decide to read something no one forced you to read.
I can't believe this is even an issue at all. Roflmao

Anyway... sorry. I don't mean to derail the thread.

Back to what OP wants to know.
Has anyone been able to use the grappling points after finishing the storyline?

Yes, and there is an achievement for it too. It's very well hidden though. Not going to spoil it for you either. B)

I'm aware of the achievement and have found grapple points in the world (though perhaps not the ones in the achievement), but I'm not getting any kind of prompt to use them as I did in the story. What I'm trying to determine is if there is some bug involved or if there is a quest or step I'm missing to enable them outside of the quest line. Have you been able to use any outside of the achievement area? I'd really appreciate hearing any extra information you can give me. Feel free to message me privately if you are afraid of spoiling it for people.

The grappling system was shown off in the announcement. At that point its no longer any more of a spoiler than anything else shown off in a trailer.

i hope they place more of these type of interactions and movement abilities through the world...

GW2 has great side activities such as a race for example that was always huge fun...eso should introduce more side activities that are "pvp for non pvp'ers" too... like the survival game from gw2... the crab game or the racing

There was no bug in my playthrough (NA server) and I did the Grappling Bow Pathfinder quest on September 24, 2019. You must find and get close enough to the first post. The grappling bow will appear in your hand along with a sound confirming that you can grapple this post. I could not see the grappling bow in my inventory. It just appears when you are close enough to a post you can grapple and hear the sound. If you are too far from a post you can see, it's not the right one or you need to get closer some other way until you hear the grappling sound.

Thanks for elaborating. That all fits my previous experience. I just went back to the Moonlit Cove delve to check the points there where I know there is no question of correct start/being close enough, and the points there no longer work for me. Maybe getting the achievement unlocks it again for general use? No mention of that in the text though...will keep trying.

I can confirm that was unable to use the grappling bow a second time when I returned to the Moonlit Cove delve. I can't remember if these posts in there are related to the main quest or not but I could not reach them anymore after the main quest, unless I was not looking at the right one to grapple.

They were a part of the main quest so that may be why they are disabled later. Thank you for confirming.

Oh that is sad to hear...

I was hoping they will add this in the base game in places like Grahtwood which feature a lot of rocks that you have to go around.

Also I think this would be amazing for housing! Imagine placing grappling points in a large house like the Psijic Villa to create games, or just to access places without using slots for stairs!

Not sure why you choose to continue to derail the topic with such a trivial nonsense.

Can you not read? I said my peace and then dropped it.
You're the one that brought it up again.
    Do you need a hug?
Get out of here with your negativity and/or baiting. Buh bye.

I can't seem to use the grappling points in Moonlit Cove either... Were you able to resolve this?

@Sporvan We came to the conclusion that story quest grapple points are only active during those story missions and not at any other time. After testing multiple locations, I honestly believe that the only usable grapple points outside of story quests are the ones that are part of the grapple point achievement.
