im a solid no on this one, pets have always been a gimmick to me, sorc was better back when it had 3 bars as its defining class feature. ZOS sucks at pets so i dont know why they insist on pushing them into the game.

Doesn't mean you have to play a PetSorc build, but I don't think you've got a chance at trading in your pets for the Overload 3rd Bar back.12 -

But I also feel with 3 special effects (lightning, dark magic, and daedric summoning) they are a bit overloaded which means they have too few skills to support the power fantasy of all three, when the devs also have to allocate some skills to be more PvP oriented.
For them to include Conjuration is in previous games and in Lore.

And until the Warden, it was the class that got saddled with pets. Even the warden only has one pet, and not a daedric one. The rest are just animations.
The daedric summoning power fantasy has to go somewhere and probably ZOS couldn't piece together a big enough skill set focussing on it so it got left on the Sorcerer.Edited by Dusk_Coven on October 1, 2019 6:41AM1 -

I think an interesting idea might be to make dots or aoe with daedric creature ANIMATION. Not an actual pet you can interact with, just graphics. Sort of like the Warden creature attacks.
Not sure if that would satisfy the power fantasy of people who want an actual daedric summon though.2 -

✭✭noI would like ZOS to remove Daederic Summoning skill line completely and introduce a new summoner class instead while making sorcerer more... like a sorcerer?
I mean... when a new player, who has played some other fantasy games before, chooses sorcerer considering it to be a mage-type class based on elements and destruction. What a disappointment it is for him when Dark Magic occurs to be a boring skill line except for Frags, Daedric Summoning is just a bunch of awkward pets with outdated visuals while the things he excepted from a sorcerer are included in only one tree - Storm Calling - dedicated to only one element.
Sorcerer class in ESO is very awkard and a total mess. The name of a class is very misleading as its toolkit is just an incoherent bunch of thematically unrelated spells.
As for overload: now it's trash and previously used mostly for a third bar which was not that good as well. This ulti should be more relevant, there are so many great things that could be done to make it viable without scrapping its whole concept.4 -

✭yesBut I think the Twilight should be redesigned to make it smaller, less flappy and less intrusive.
Also pets should be kept permanent. There is enough to keep tabs on in the way of DOTs, buffs etc without having to constantly recast pets.
If people don't consider them worth the two slots, and there is currently good reason for that, then the answer is to un-nerf them again.4 -

✭✭yesThey do there is no should about it, one of there whole class skill lines is built around the pets.
The only thing I hate about the pets of the Sorcs and the Wardens bears is blocking interaction with stuff and the flying pet reducing field of vision in some roles during dungeons.
Personally I like the pets, if the ability's did not take up so much bar space I would use them more often on my Sorc, I just don't find the pets as useful as other ability's that I could slot instead.0 -

✭yesOption, yes. Requirement, no. The flappy bird is annoying and should be smaller or flightless. As ZOS is sucking all class distinctive features from the game, it seems likely that they'll eventually make this a single-bar cast time skill. But, should they do so, the game will have died just a bit more as a result.1 -
kamimark✭✭✭✭yesBack in the day, pets were fantastic. The Clanny tanked and did some damage, the Imp exploded like a good second DPS, the Matriarch healed like nothing else. You paid a price of 1 or 2 skill bar slots for this, and really another slot or two for support skills. Nice trade-off.
Current patch, it's nearly worthless to run any pet. Clanny can't tank, Imp can't burn anything down, Matriarch is helpless. My Sorc main of 5 years is parked until/unless ZOS pulls their head out of some daedric hole and makes Conjuring useful again.

I found it odd you brought up the 3rd bar when complaining about pets as it is totally irrelevant. Besides, as someone who's second character is a Sorc, I found having access to a third bar to be rather unfair. While I did use it, it certainly was not defining.
Do not know what your issue is but it really seems you are not happy with the sorc and are just complaining about everything.Edited by idk on October 1, 2019 1:39PM3 -
CambionDaemon✭✭✭noNo I hate pets, I want proper Daedric summons. They should be back barred spells that I cast, they have 30/60 duration or until killed and then they go back to oblivion. This whole permanent pets is stupid/non lore and they just get in the way everywhere.
Still trying to work out why my Sorcerer summons little Scamps and Twilights, they are the among the weakest of all Daedra, we should be summoning Fire/Ice/Storm/Air Atronachs, Golden Saints etc, not these pathetic creatures. They have shown in previous Spell Crafting footage, the summoning of a Flame Atronach so it is within their power to change the Sorcerer Summoning line (if we have to have it).
But the bottom line, is that non pets Sorcerer must be viable, but at the moment they cannot get the skills/buffs needed because of overloading pet Sorcerers. But then Sorcerer's should be wearing heavy armour and wielding a sword, so who knows what's in store for the future.1 -
