Do you use any race any alliance?

On one side I don't want to fight against my alliance on the other side I can not make sense out of a race fighting against her/his alliance. I feel reluctant on my other alliance chars. But I also need to level them again if I want all of them in the same alliance. Your thoughts?

I have 18 characters, most of them are DC faction. I didn't want to be race restricted so I got the any race/any alliance pack early on so I could make any race for my DC toons and get full functionality without being restricted to a specific alliance by doing so.

If you can spare the few bucks required to unlock it, it's absolutely the way to go imo. All of my characters are in the same alliance and I can make any character type I wish in the future without fearing I'll be somehow prevented from optimizing, or playing what I prefer for aesthetic reasons.

Yeah I am thinking of buying it because I just don't feel like pvp ing with those other alliance chars lol

Back when i was a little EP noob who wanted to support his faction, i used it.

Now i couldn't care less. However, it is useful to be able to use any race on any faction, especially now that Faction Locks are still a thing and you're stuck on one faction for a month.

That's exactly why I went that route. I want to be able to PvP with any and all of my characters in the same alliance without hassle.

Oh then why do they even have alliance locks, that does not make sense :o

Who decides which is my character's alliance? My Breton templar has a High Elf grandmother and grew up on Auridon (she's AD). One of my Khajiit was born in Abah's Landing (she's DC, though I don't pvp with her). My Orc's clan's stronghold was located in Skyrim (she's EP).

For my Dunmer MagBlade being AD I don't have a reason yet, just wanted her to be in the alliance my friends and me are mostly playing at.

Because people complained about "cross faction cheating" and other such nonsense, and ZoS listened. Partially why i'm on the forums now, to actually try to stop garbage like that from getting in

Great idea, my new Dunmer, Breton and Nord's grandma will be High elf so they can AD lol :D

It's not that unusual. If you grew up in Skyrim, lived your whole life in Skyrim, raised a family in Skryim and worked your entire career in Skryim, how does it make sense for you to abandon all that and join the Dominion just because you're a Wood Elf?

This war is about politics, not genocide, so race doesn't really factor in much beyond which ones predominantly live in various regions. If the U.S. went to war with China, for example, there would still be plenty of Asian people in the U.S. military even though the bulk is non-Asian.

No, whatever side the character is by default, that's where I fight, AP comes regardless. It is also convenient to have a character from each faction, for many reasons. With faction lock introduced I had to neglect a third of them, but that will be fixed in next patch.

I do have it and I have used non-standard alliances, but not for the role-play reasons you mentioned.
Also, there are various NPC examples where they are "not the correct race" in the alliance zone.
And why not? They are just citizens. Before the war there were civilians free to go anywhere and live anywhere. Just because of the war it doesn't mean the world has gone crazy and started racial stereotyping -- unlike nutjobs in the real world that started Japanese Internment Camps and what not.

you can figure out plenty of reasons why characters may not be in the alliance most of the race is in

for example - my orc is of Vallenwood orcs (if you do quests in Malabal Tor, you know what i mean) my Argonian is from a refugee family that landed in Auridon, my AD dunmer is the last survivor of her family that was collateral damage in a fight between bigger Telvani and Hlaalu families and only survived cause she was on out on family business to Elden Root (you can see traders of all races across all the alliances so this works out within the lore just fine). Khajiit is a pirate and a smuggler, who got kicked out of her hometown for her proclivities, so she joined the pact out of sheer spite (and continues to smuggle within AD territory, again, out of sheer spite)

and so on and so forth. it can be pretty fun, figuring out why a character would belong to alliance that doesn't include their race as a whole in official capacity.
    dirty worthless casual.

Yes, because ALL my characters are wood elf. Because, Bosmer is the only worthy race to be.

Always used any race any alliance, I always have at least one argonian char every elder scrolls game I have played (which is pretty much oblivion onwards, played a small part of morrowind though), but with ESO, I didn’t want to fight for the EP because well skyrim, I wanted to see a completely different part of Tamriel one I hadn’t seen before so I chose DC to see the likes of Daggerfall (I never played TES 2 is it? 2 is daggerfall right?) and Skyrim also made me decide against AD because I’d had enough of elves at the time.

Now I have 10 characters (2 Argonians, a khajiit, a woodelf, a highelf, a darkelf, a Breton, a imperial, a orc and a redguard) all of which belong to the DC faction. Just because I like DC. I have had EP and even an AD char before but long since deleted now...

    If you’re worried about how they’d fit in lore-wise and/or how they’d RP, here’s a few ideas:
    - Mercenaries hired by the alliance they fight for (nice and simple)
    - You’re character may have been born in the region they fight for thus feeling indifferent fighting against their own kind because they were raised with different peoples and ideologies
    - You’re character could be seeking vengeance for something an alliance member did to your char or your characters family
    - Had no faith in the leadership of the original regions and so moved away and signed up to fight to remove said leadership

I got the 'any race, any alliance' pack because I had chose EP as my alliance but didn't want to be limited to EP races.

I have an EP Wood Elf that I changed from Dark Elf, because the Dark Elf was so fugly I couldn’t stand to play her (yes, I am that superficial, TYVM 😝). I also have an AD Imperial that I race changed from a High Elf, because she looked so arrogant and stuck up I ended up hating her too.

All my other characters I like from when I created them, but I do enjoy having no restrictions on race/alliance when creating new characters. 🤗

Got it back in 2016, when I noticed how the Game is supposed to work.
Or short: I found out that running a Templar Argonian with a 2H Sword and Magicka Jab Spam is not BiS. :p

And I obviously wanted to stay at EP back then, because I found friends already and One Tamriel was far away.
