Daytime Maintenance is getting ridiculous

I have no idea what this company was even thinking when they thought it was a good idea to do maintenance throughout the time. I have like 2 hours to play today right now and I don't get to play at all now because of their poor maintenance time. I read another post on here and I would have to agree with the fact that they need to add 1 day on every ones subscription every time they do a daytime maintenance. They are cheating people and taking days out of there subscription pretty much. They posted and said, every Tuesday and Friday at 8am. It takes them like 10 hours to do maintenance which is pathetic. So 2 days every week with about 4 weeks in every month, they are basically cheating people out of 8 days on their subscriptions. It may be different for people who don't work or do anything, but I'm sure there are tons of others in my position that don't have the ability to play anytime of the day that we feel like.

So first off, they need change the damn maintenance time to like 3am or something, because it is getting ridiculous. I'm not, and tons of other people as well, are not paying for this game for this company to basically take 8 days of our subscription time out, for maintenance.
Second, I think it's extremely sad that it even takes as long as it does to do patches and stuff. How in the hell does it take hours and hours, well, let's just say DAYS AND DAYS, to do maintenance? Makes no sense, and the patches aren't even big.
Third, they are probably pissing off tons and tons of players. I already see tons of people on the forums already bitching about the daytime maintenance, and I don't blame them because I'm doing the same.
Fourth, I don't care if any of you want to dis me on posting this, because it is my opinion, but it really is unfair to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. They are basically stealing daytime game time from every single person. They need to be doing this when people are asleep at like 2-3 am EDT.

Anyways, I could probably add more, but I just think it's terrible that they do it during this time. Then again, it is my opinion, and everyone has theirs. I just felt the need to tell people. If you feel the need to, then post your opinion, I don't care if you talk bad back to me, won't make a difference.

Yeah this is pretty absurd. As a housewife night owl with major insomnia -- aka I can play whenever I want and usually do so somewhere between dinner and dawn -- I'd much prefer them to start maintenance at 2-3am. It would take away my prime time but I know I'm not the norm, and this really is crappy for everyone else. Why is it even taking so long? The last update at 8am said it's "taking a little longer than expected" and will be back "sometime before this evening." This EVENING? That's not a LITTLE longer, guys, that's all day. Yes, I know it's launch/new/whatever, but I really do not think anyone can reasonably justify a potential 12-hour maintenance period.

This would be 11pm-12am Pacific, let's agree on the WoW downtime of 4am PST / 7am EST and inconvenience any 'morning' players. 8am-10am PST / 11am-1pm EST is a really poor time to have scheduled maints and may be a convenience for the staff, but sh*tty for a lot more subscribers than the tried-and-true WoW downtime.

ummm this is happening prime time in my area 8 pm, I would love it to happen during the day that would be great, nothing more annoying , than to get ready to play after a long day to find that there down till 1 am ( my time)

I wish they'd just take the time to communicate as to why.

A simple message saying '"the servers have to be taken down because this morning's patch did x, y & z that we were not expecting, we have a fix and it will take us approximately x hours to implement. Sorry to eat into your play time but we feel it is important to fix this whatever it is" would avoid a lot of undirected frustration in the player base.

At the end of the day if industry sites start to pick up on this stuff it's going to hit their bottom line so it is well worth their time to treat us like customers not impediments.

I have already decided the time and money spent on this is water under the bridge. Prime time server outages, with no indication of estimated outage, make me look elsewhere for MMORPG thrills. Once my free month is out, i am gone.

Have to agree with the OP, living in the UK and having maintenance start at 4pm BST (11am EDT) and then last "several hours" is a bit of a bind; I understand the need for maintenance and the desire of the ZOS team to not work silly hours, but couldn't/shouldn't you organise a maintenance time that not only suits the EU players on the EU megaserver, but also that fits your team? Even if this was 2-3 hours earlier - start at say 9am EDT - that way it should be sorted by 4pm BST and suit most people in europe (sorry to those that finish work/school earlier :) )

We may as well just write off maintenance days completely from now on, it is obvious ZOS can't get their maintenance done in less the 12 hours.

So in order to not get pissed off we may as well just realize that maintenance means no logging into the server for at least 12 hours that way when they get the server back up in 8 hours we are pleasantly surprised.

An ETA when they will be back up would be nice aswell...

They cant even give us that, let alone do maintence in a decent time of the day.

Agree, for them it is few hours break but for me and many of people every afternoon maitanance is minus 1 day of playing.

Another repeat thread? Guys, seriously - I'm just as frustrated by maintenance as you, but you realize that you can post about all of this in the already zillion existing threads right? By creating duplicate threads, you are cluttering the support forum so people with genuine problems are getting buried beneath piles of hate.

The needs of many need to be heard and keeping it tidy does not show our disgust at the maintence time.

Basically if you live and work in the EU your missing a whole day of playtime every week. It needs fixing or I'll take a cheaper sub thanks.

I'll give it a little longer if they carry on with this I'll find another game to pay for, where I get my monies worth every month.

Stopping the subscription clock for maintenance would be excellent customer service. It would allow them the time they need to fix their bugs and resolve their issues while still showing their customers their time is valued.

The current statement of we fix problems on your time is not good enough. It devalues the product for the customer and doesn't reward loyalty to the brand.

The elephant in the room is that they are having to stop so often for a completed game. I have been an elderscrolls fan for a while (Manimarco supporter for life!) and have learned that while the content is amazing, the quality of the product as a working system is low. This is an image they should work to change.

    Completely agree:

1-There is never an ETA for maintenance
2- Maintenance takes long hours when it should take at the most 1, 2 hours for ridiculous small patches. (they had plenty of time to plan and test this out with beta).
3-I am still waiting on someone to reply to my ticket regarding day or money reimbursement for the stupid amount of maintenance time they have done so far done at stupid hours.
4-I was sold this game with an agreement that says 30 days and I am now looking at 22 at best.
5- This forum is a mess and hard for people to navigate and get help or share problems with the rest of the community.

I am going to log a ticket every single day about reimbursement and you should do the same, if these guys don't fix the issues above and improve communication I'm afraid they will lose a client who was willing to pay a monthly subscription, and rest assured I will pass the word about my experience to other prospective players.

    I agree with the OP.

Having maintenance during day time hours when the vast majority of players are able to play is simply bad business. I don't understand why you can't run maintenance during the early morning hours when most people are asleep.

Assuming OP was correct about the posted maintenance times, losing 8 days a month is pretty subpar. That's almost a third of a month. Maybe we should have our subscription prices reduced by a third.

Agreed OP. This is a abysmal customer service with prime time maintenance for 10 hours and a huge lack of communication with us, their customers who are willing to pay the subscription. As most of you said, this ridiculous maintenance is stealing our game time.

There should be a compensation for this mess. The more i play, the more i think about stopping. I love the game, but this is getting too much.
