Looks like Zos is giving PvE the PvP treatment, meaning you won't be able to only build for damage now. You'll have to watch out for your sustain.
My prediction is you'll be seeing Bone Pirate/Relequen on alot of stam set ups, or maybe a few reduce cost/stam regeneration glyphs on jewelry, instead of 2 damage sets and full on damage jewelry.
Same can be said of magicka.

Unlikely. Only dots and aoe dots got more expensive so its gonna be a matter of avoiding to use as many of These as possible, for example there are stamnecro parses where they use the vma staff for Blockade for easier stam Sustain instead of hail to proc the backbar weapon dmg enchant.
For magplar for example Im just waiting for sweeps to be bugfixed so that I can test while getting rid of blazing spear.
And since dots are gonna be weak af anyway you dont Need many, its likely gonna be better to get stuff that buffs you instead of dots.
You're lucky zos is making mag dks a little more viable because of the change to engulfing flames only giving the full flame damage from 3300 spell damage or else dk tanks are more than happy to keep mag dks irrelevant
This post will go nowhere. No offense but they just dont seem to care what we here on the forums think. They will do what they want.
Trust me I main a magdk and always fear the next patch, just wondering how else they will completely [snip] this class up among others. We need to face the fact that we will never see balance. They seem to favor the pvp aspect of their game and try to balance it and it screws over pve players.

I'm pretty sure my ashlander is going to be dead in the water next patch, but I don't think the developers consider characters like him at all when they make these changes. He's a magicka character who doesn't use a staff, meaning he has no way of recovering resources with heavy attacks. In spite of that, he's historically been able to solo world bosses just fine and sustain through them by keeping up DoT pressure and having relatively inexpensive attacks. That balance is going to shift hard on a bad direction for him... so much so I may need to convert him to a hybrid to keep him at all workable for the types of content I like to do. That's not necessarily a bad thing - it fits his character concept at least - but it's still kinda frustrating.

Well no one cares what youre running, just like no cares what im running. The point is is the magdk gets *** on with every new patch.

Nah, if you’ve been getting by on little or no sustain, YOU’LL be fine next patch. Drop the DOTs. Back bar Resto (front bar Flame staff). Run all damage. Get some heavies in.
Absolutely get Ele Drain in your kit.

And after that ZOS say:"In ESO, we want you to play your way" - this is complete nonsense!!!

No, I don't have that option. I develop characters. This means I will not change my characters in ways that make no sense for them. That destroys who they are and their identity. This character will never, ever use a restoration staff. And while it might be passable for them to pick up a fire staff, that doesn't feel in keeping with his character right now either. This means that he will still be using dual wield and 1-hand shield as a magicka dragonknight. It's... probably going to suck for him. There are a few sets I could use that help or other ways to tweak it, but... well... those shifts have to be within the standard of what makes sense for the character too (as well as what is fun to play). There is a set that restores magicka on heavy attacks regardless of weapon type but... it's super boring otherwise.

Increase sustain instead. Mdk had barely playable sustain even before nerfs, but at this point you will have to either run one good sustain set and lose competitive dps or reroll to stamdk.

Agree one hundred percent, but in a patch where they're increasing the costs AND nerfing the damage, I'm not optimistic they'll hear our cries of pain about magDK sustain.
I covet the netch and the templar's rune, but not so much I want another one of our skills obliterated to make room for something like that. If they could just stop punching us in the throat I'll figure something out.
