Personally i often use this site, however every time i see that site mentioned on the forums its in a negative way and with a recommendation about using some other site. My impression is that the general opinion of the site is negative. What gives?

There is nothing wrong with it. I use it all the time for quickly checking skills, gear, glyph crafting ingredients, etc. It indexes higher than UESP on Google and is generally easier to navigate. Although Alcast and Woeler's ESO Skillbook and ESO Sets websites are quickly replacing it for a lot of stuff (and are starting to index on Google, which is great).

Having said that, a lot of their data is outdated or incorrect, which is where the criticism comes from. Exercise caution when using it.

It used to be my go-to site for all kinds of ESO information. (Exception: Dungeon guides, which all seem awkwardly plagiarized from elsewhere.) But the reliability of the information is so bad now that increasingly I go to other sites first.

Things change so significantly every few months that i'm not surprised by these places going out of date and content creators end up tired of keeping up and move on.

It's been about 2 years since I focused on my build, figured I got to the top once and that's enough for me. Keeping up with patch notes and forum topics for changes is a full time job and it is just exhausting to re-learn it all again.

I only have good thoughts on fextralife. Some haters go nuts over spelling errors, probably one of those "cant control their life so they control their surroundings" type of venting happening (forum topics seeming an easier target for their rage and so on)

Ive been using it for years, it is far and away the best, most informative and comprehensive site for all things ESO... or... it was...

The problem is he doesnt update it enough any more, so as time goes on the information is not being kept up to date, meaning it is becoming less and less reliable. Which is a massive shame.

    C'mon fextralife, please remedy :)

Nothing wrong with the site which I know of, I used to use it a lot for sets info before Alcast and Woeler set up something easier to use.

Personally for lore though I like UESP as they've been around for longer and I've been using the site longer.

I know some have commented about they're not happy Fextralife embeds streams into the site to get more twitch views, maybe that's the negative you're hearing about?

I sometimes use the Wiki for information I can't find on UESP but I'm not a fan of how it's laid out - I find it messy and so much of what's on the page is irrelevant.

For example if I look up Elsweyr here's what I see:
    4It31GA.jpg

2 paragraphs of actual information (including a very out-dated reference to battle levelled zones) and an incomplete info box. All swamped with adverts and video spam and a cookie warning I can't seem to get rid of, no matter how many times I tell it to save my settings. (Which might be an issue with my browsers, but only happens on that site.)

And the rest of the site seems to be all videos, which I'm not a big fan of. I prefer to be able to skim through guides for the info I need rather than having to sit through the entire thing or trying to pin point the right section based off thumbnails.

    this.

i prefer uesp. edited by more people, more reliable and up to date, easier to navigate and TONS of info. on practically every npc, item and everything.

also it feels more professional and serious, like wikipedia, in contrast to the so-called fextralife 'wiki'...

A lot of time and effort into helping our community [snip]. I appreciate all the work for us. Anyone can edit it, same as UESP.

If you guys think you can do better,... you should then.

This is correct. I have yet to find a site that has been around for awhile that is completely up to date. It has to take a lot of work with all the changes Zos likes to make every 3 months. I will like the site.

First of all, I like Fextralife
The Fextralife-Sites are only viable for new games for a couple of months. After that they get mostly abandoned for new Games. This model is okay for games that dont get any Updates, for MMOs though it makes the Site pretty much unusable.

There are abvious exceptions though. The Fextralife-People are for instance obsessed with Original Sin 2, so the Site is pretty much the Bible for that Game.

I don't like it only because of the ads - which UBlock Origin doesn't seem capable of blocking reliably. I don't DO ads - if I use a site, I donate money.

There is no 'they' Its community project done by community. For every eager poster posting new sets there there is lack of eager poster making sure those sets will actually be updated to live patch instead of staying on their PTS week1 version for months. Thats just example what can or happened in past many times :P

My most use page of theirs is the sets page when im planning builds. Those seem to be updated quickly and it's the quickest no-hassle way to look up sets for me.

Their guides are outdated though. That's why I never recommend it to newer players.

My overall experience with Fextralife sites (for various games) has been that they have bad UI. The sites responsiveness is iffy at best. Width/height values are always jumping around. It's just hard to navigate, especially with how many adds are typically on the page as well.

The site is fine and they do a decent job of keeping up with Zeni’s changes, but some of the information is outdated and can lead to bad build decisions.

Sadly It and sites like it are likely to fall more and more out of date due to the frequency that zeni changes existing skills, sets and passives. The community members create and maintain websites and addons as a labor of love and the combat team’s “balance” schizophrenia is a huge burden on them.

    Its multiple people.

Fextralife is a female gamer, on PS4 Platform. Have a great day do-gooder! LMAO

There is also a person with a GT of Wiki. Does that person own the Wiki website too, if we follow your logic? Don't be silly.

Here are some links for you, so you can get an idea of how the content is created (not by a single person) and how many games have content.

    https://fextralife.com/about/
    https://www.wiki.fextralife.com/

It started back in 2008, and potentially in development even before then. If you're saying the person with that GT started the whole project and they also play on ESO, I guess there is a small possibility that is true. But doubtful. More likely they saw that name and used it.

Help update it then. All registered members can edit pages. Everyone seems to complain yet nobody wants to contribute to this great community project.

I miss the old internet where people raced to be the first to contribute, so everyone would have info up to date. :(

I'm on Ps4 and I never heard of a person named Fextralife. Granted, I not hip to the Twitch or PS4 streamers clique, so I wouldn't be surprised.

But really, unless the mods come in here to slap us with naming and shaming, I think this topic is fine.

It's not a person it's a community driven Wiki page about the game and its content.
