I'm on Ps4 and I never heard of a person named Fextralife. Granted, I not hip to the Twitch or PS4 streamers clique, so I wouldn't be surprised.

But really, unless the mods come in here to slap us with naming and shaming, I think this topic is fine.

It's not a person it's a community driven Wiki page about the game and its content.

There seems to be some misconception whether people are referring to a PS4 player named Fextralife or the website Fextralife.

You're also barking up the wrong tree. I have no stake in this and just find the potential drama amusing. It certainly is a breath of life fresh air compared to the nerf threads.

Fextralife is and never was populated / maintained by a single person, but instead by a whole team of people dedicated to share their finds along the world wide web.

This web page has some many sites and the sets and rotations change so quickly that one could never maintain it alone. It's just not possible. Even if you'd spend all your day editing the sites - by the time you finish something would have changed again.

To help maintain the sites you need to register and after that can edit them freely. Your edit will be reviewed by a moderator and once approved the changes will be visible to everyone.

Creating new web pages for this job might work - but only temporarily until that is out of date also. Especially when there is only 2 people maintaining it. So much credit to alcast and his page - great job! But still will have the same issue at some point.

A lot of time and effort into helping our community, also Fextralife is a she. I appreciate all the work for us. Anyone can edit it, same as UESP.

If you guys think you can do better,... you should then.

    Jeesh!

I do. Indirectly admittedly but I edit and add to pages on the UESP Wiki, because that's the one I prefer using.

I used to edit some of the lore pages on UESP. It was pretty fun and is why I like using UESP instead.
Fextralife does have an awesome Dark Souls community, though.

I only know Fextralife because when I did a search for ESO Wiki it was the first one which came up. Until today I wasn't aware they had sections for other games. That does help explain why out of date information sticks around for longer though, if the people running the site are trying to cover multiple different games it's not surprising they're not able to keep up with all the changes in one of them, and then it gets left to whatever random visitors want to edit it. (And chances are if you're looking info up on a Wiki it's something you don't know, and so you can't add it.)

fextralife has a great youtube and twitch channel!

uesp has nearly all the data on anything you cant find somewhere else!

alcast is good for skills and sets and now also furniture!

Xynode gaming is great for "other" builds!

mmo fashion is great for anything visual - costumes, motifs, pets, mounts, dyes, hats, furniture...

It's very much possible that Alcast maintains the site by himself, but that seems doubtful. I can only imagine he has a content creator, or two, especially given how much his site has progressed within the last year. Plus data management and hosting....though he could be a Full Stack Developer and Full Time Pro Gamer. Good UI and UX goes a long way, and he is definitely in the top tier for current ESO-content websites.

I know some have commented about they're not happy Fextralife embeds streams into the site to get more twitch views, maybe that's the negative you're hearing about?

If that's the problem so does Alcast.

    Its beyond outdated.

Help update it then. All registered members can edit pages. Everyone seems to complain yet nobody wants to contribute to this great community project.

I miss the old internet where people raced to be the first to contribute, so everyone would have info up to date. :(

Or I can just use better resources. I don't mind fextralife for some games. But their ESO wiki is just unable to compete.

If that's the problem so does Alcast.

There's a degree of drama associated with that. Alcast and Fengrush both embed views. Fextralife is just more... omnivorous about it.

If you're on Alcast's site, you're looking at ESO content, you're also watching Alcast and Fengrush if they're streaming, whether you meant to or not.

If you're on Fextralife, you could be looking at wikis for a half dozen different games, and then you're watching Fextralife, whether you want to or not. So, now, because you just needed to check what the keywords on the Threaded Cane are, and because FromSoft doesn't care enough to expose that data on the item card, you're watching an ESO stream. Brilliant!

If anyone took the time to look at the "about" on the site you will find it refers to multipole people. With that, often these site are lead by one person with others that help with articles and reviews. Blogs tend to be one person that gets others to contribute and Fextralife is likely no different.

Because people don't care lol. That's my entire point. People in this day are so bloody lazy and entitled they'll just switch to whatever suits them better instead of putting in some effort.

Honestly Fextralife could be the best site out there if enough people cared to lend a hand.

Change a couple of words and the same could be said about ESO...

Remember, it’s okay and very normal to disagree with others, and even to debate, but provoking conflict, baiting, inciting, mocking, etc. is never acceptable in the official The Elder Scrolls Online community.

Its the best site on eso info. But is not updated fast.

FetLife is absolutely not the best site, that goes to usep.net. far easier to contribute, you don't even need to register to update the site.

Those ZOS responses are always a gold mine.

    Please define:
    • Provoking conflict: if I talk about a controversial topic/express my opinion do I "provoke conflict" as others will very likely disagree?
    • Baiting: why is that even supposed to be? I make a poorly argued point and "bait" someone into falsifying it?
    • Inciting: the same as baiting?
    • Mocking: if I point out someone clear lack of evidence/proper reasoning I "mock" him?

In the right environment, allowing this level of permissions can be a good idea if there is confidence in the integrity of the people who contribute. And I don't mean someone is going to be malicious and delete/edit content, but more-so someone might think they are adding the right information when in reality they are not. This is the pitfall with Wikipedia as well...sometimes the information is so well-written and looks valid that you just believe it right away.
