Maelstrom Axe and Crit Charge is a better dot then Searing Strike now.

    Haha) This patch just prove my words about total incompetence of combat designers team. In previous patch they increase DoT damage, but heavily nerf and change some classes. Now they heavily nerf DoTs, but do not revert crippled abilities.

    Twin Blade and Blunt and Heavy Weapons Bleed passives are stronger DoTs than any single-target stamina DoT in the game now.

    I wouldn't necessarily ascribe it all to incompetence, rather that the devs are purely reactionary and lack any vision, and they unironically listen to people who come to the forums and whine about what killed them the first time they accidentally entered Cyrodiil as if it's viable feedback.

    "Dizzying Swing is OP!" "Templars are OP!" "DoTs are OP!"

    None of these things were true, or were only true in certain situations and conditions. Which is why you see see-saw changes from patch to patch with no pattern, rhyme, or reason. Now, DoTs are trash, and templars, which never got a buff last patch, nor any nerfs or buffs this patch, will not look OP anymore to people who don't understand how game systems work because purge isn't the be all end all, and all those trashplars spamming Living Crutch will disappear even though nothing actually changed.

    This entire game seems to be balanced on whims.

    Yeah I'd hope that by using a Maelstrom weapon that is basically equal to a full Monster Set + forcing to use a gap closer as a DOT would result in a better DOT than any others in the game. If you wanna compare stamDK DOT, aka a class DOT, then compare it with another class DOT.

    Forcing to use a gap closer? You can bloody use them at zero range now... You wanna know how much better of a dot it is?

    Not only does crit charge drop a dot itself on the ground, but it does a little over 10k over 5 seconds..On a Dot build Stam DK, built around using dots (meaning using the dot increase armor and everything)....Searing Strike is doing around 11k over 14 seconds...You can almost get off 3 of those Maelstrom Dots in that time....It absolutely DWARFS the damage of Searing Strike.....that again..is from the Dot Class...

    Now what does that say about Maelstrom Two hander? Is it overpowered? Nope...I used this bloody axe just to add a small ass pitiful dot to cover my other dots before the patch....One of the absolute worst dots in the game in the previous patch that I used as a Dot Cover for purges is now one of the best dots in the game...

    Hell.....I can actually do better, Viper set does more damage over time then Searing Strike now

    The instant they brought it up, everyone KNEW they were going to wreck every dot skill in the game. Because....ZOS. Next update they will wreck every heal in the game.

    Quite a few proc sets do more damage than basic skills now. Which begs the question, are they going to standardize single target proc DOT damage or leave it out there along with DD proc sets for a proc meta to fester?

    noxious breath have initial damage of psijic spamable, major fracture, half of claw dot damage and it is aoe
    claw have more damage than soultrap, cost really low stamina

    no wonder get a nerf SmileyFace

    DoTs were too OP, but no one thought ZOS would be incompetent enough to nerf them this hard...... Most of us were probably expecting a 25%~40% nerf depending on the skill, not a 40-60% nerf on average.

    All dots should have get nerfed but the ranged one more than the melee ones.. 20% for melee and 40% for ranged sound good but I'm not a dumb dev lol

    I was hoping for no more than 25% nerf, 40% would've sounded okay for ranged ones.
