This especially. If it were not done this way, you'd only be able to group with other players if you all started the game together. You do still need to keep your equipment at a "current" level, and invest your attribute and skill points as you go.That is done on purpose so you can play with (and contribute to) groups of higher level characters without dying to the first mudcrab you run into.

You already got plenty of value from your purchase of the game. Why are you insisting on playing more if you aren't enjoying it? There are countless great games out there.
