So I need some assistance.
Ever since the dot update I kept reading that MagSorc will be amazing and yada yada. However, being in BG and the IC event, I barely see Mag, I see much more StamSorc. Did I miss something?

Why chase a meta? Does it matter which one is more popular or is perceived to be “better”? Try both and see which one fits your personal play style better.

If you play ESO and the question is which one is more powerful magicka or Stamina? That answer is the same no matter the class, Stamina! ZOS also announced that they are going to be nerfing DoTs. So Stamina will go back to it previously oppressive state. Unless of course you are fighting from within a zerg.

Just look at what all the famous streamers plays. None of them stream themselves playing Magicka while 1 v Xing, it's always a stamina spec. There is a distinct reason for that. That I feel no need to bring up.

Not really trying to chase a meta, but I’ve learned that MagSorcs don’t have the best self healing. We have to rely on Rapud Regen and 9/10 times it doesn’t hit us. But with Stam, you get Vigor, Rally and Conversion

You probably won’t find a good answer here. Most people are too biased. It really is best to try both yourself.

So i main a bretonish mage that uses magic blasts to smash enemies in unimpresive speeds.
Frags, Wraths and Shocks, no pets only a buddy stormy atro that i call from the heavens. Honestly i like the class, im not saying its op or the best, while i die every 8 minutes from any peble that hits my leg. But its fun and i can stand up for myself in solo world or in a random dungeon. In pvp i need to learn to stay back and shoot from a distance.
+ a sorcorer with stamina isnt good for roleplaying

    Magicka sorc of course.
    It is just supreme.
    It has everything you need.
    Self heal? Via pets.
    You need tanking? Via pets.
    Need escape? Streak
    Need shield? Conjured ward

I couldn't find the equivalent of "Conjured Ward" in any other class.
    It is just silly good.
Stage 4 vamp (%75 more weakness) and everyone just tries to throw fire on me, yet no damage :D

But that is my experience, I find magicka classes easier to play.
Since I use my stamina just for blocking.

Lmao people on forums still crying about magsorc or telling you to play them are those that never played them this patch. Stamsorc are doing better with the weapon buffs and the general faster burst potential without the need of much set up. Combined with more overall tankiness and speed, stamsorcs are doing quite well this patch while the only things that enabled magsorcs to do really well are either nerfed or not buffed (except unblockable streak). As you said yourself, there are much less magsorc and much more stamsorc this patch and for a good reason (just like how there are more magplar). Have not really seen a good magsorc doing that well at all this patch (at least not better than I can perform on other characters, yes including streamers. The only one doing quite well is probably MalcolM you can check him out on YouTube, but even then it’s mostly in Cyrodiil where CP can help magsorcs with some deficiency like making shields more useful. His BG build is also more forced into helping control groups with a heavy armor setup rather than hard carrying if you’re doing solo BG.)

Stam sorc, and stam in general, is defacto superior IMO. At least in PvP. Then again it all depends on how "good" you are. Though in my opinion it doesn't take much with the right build...

You see stam in pvp cuz stam dominates pvp.

To answer the question, if you want to play mag, play magsorc. If you want to play stam, play stamsorc.

rapid regen or mute gen and healing ward does fine. You could also run twighlight which is a very good group and self heal. But I personally refuse that since I hate pets.

Mag sorc still fine for 1vX
I’ve been running a Tanky build 1vx for a while. If I see 5 or more players I generally just streak away unless they are obviously trash players. I can only generally 1v3 at a time max. Not like stamina where you can dodge roll and use cover easier.
Also Had a bunch of situations where I run into another good player and we end up just wailing on each other for 5-10 mins with neither of us dying then part ways.

The onslaught builds are most scary. Stamsorc with onslaught is going to probably be better 1vX

aside from magplar ya stam is over all easier to play. Roll dodge is amazing, we have many options to use for weapons as oppose to mag who just have destros and restros. You can no longer go full into max mag and expect to go toe to toe with a stam spec. Mag just feels like its made to zerg with or support. (looks at mag necro)

My opinion as someone who has mained a Sorcerer since release.

Firstly I do both PVE (daily's and overland content not group dungeons) and spend the rest of my time as a casual soloer in Cyrodiil.
I started with Stamina as pretty much every game I play a sword and board character (EQ/EQ2/WOW etc) but over the years have played both styles in order to learn the strengths/weaknesses of the class.

I am not a meta chaser, I don't give a toss (to quote Mr Boycott) about YouTube muppets, I honestly play how I want to so if your looking for comparisons down to a 00000000.00001% dps - jog on.

Soooo I used to do a Cyrodiil campaign stamina then switch to Magic just for the fun but there are big differences in play style.
I'm not the worlds best PvPer, I do it for fun so my load outs tend to be flexible and based on support, my views on both styles:

    Stamina
You will find with this style that you wont be using many class ability's, only Hurricane, Dark Deal and Bound Armour may be of any use. If your using a two hander (afterall stamina is an 'in your face' spec I suggest you do) you will be torn between Rally and Crit Surge.
You will feel generic, all your other skills will be taken up with weapon slots.
For range the Bow will be your choice and whilst its probably the only way now we have an effective stun, it doesn't feel the same as a destruction staff.
Don't underestimate the new Vigor with a stamina build, its amazing but lack of magic will *** up your cleanse if you use it.
If you like sneaking around stamina is amazing with Dark Deal as it doesn't break sneak.

    Magic
Every time I play Stamina I wish I was magic, why? because of the utility.
Sorcerer's were designed to be a magic class, look at all the passives in the skill lines, then look at all the different utility skills we get from mines to shields/dots/AOE/unblockable stuns (rune/streak) then add in all the utility the destruction staff adds!
Yes we get a bonus to physical and shock damage but we have way more shock skills.
You will find that you are now using more of your class skills and benefitting more from the skill line passives.
Add Innate Axiom and Netch's Touch and you can have some fun.

Overall I just prefer to have fun and Magic enables me to change the way I play (I even run pets once in a while for solo dungeon runs) and adapt to situations better, I'm sure stamina is the stronger PvP build up close but with a *** load of dots magic is a great support class and I can melt you from distance.

    Be safe

I don't PvP or BG much at all. So, for PvE, I enjoy playing both. However, I do find that I seem to kill things faster, sololy, with my stam; doesn't matter if stamsorc, stamdk, stamden, stamplar and even stamblade. I also have magsorc, magblade, magden, magplar and magdk. However, both sides have good DoTs and AoE skillsets that you can effectively combo with main direct damage attacks. Thus, to me, it doesn't matter if stam or mag. Although, I haven't mess with necro yet.

I have been CONSTANTLY race changing from Altmer/Breton for magic to Orc for Stam. I have used Mag since release but I’ve noticed I stay alive better with Stamina. Mag Sorc heals are only good by sacrificing 2 slots for the Matriarch and that makes me mad :(. But when I did Stam Sorc I seem to do better, but I’m trying not to hinder my progress in getting better at PvP. Mag in PvE is just insane

Why not play BOTH? I have every class with a Magicka and a Stamina build, with some hybrid tanks thrown in for good measure. I don’t have to care what patches do to balance, as I can play anything.
