Glass canon stam DW/Bow NB with permacloak?

I love the idea behind an assassin type of mele build, with the ability to stay hidden for long periods of time. I have a woodelf with hundings/spriggans with a magica regen glyph resulting in around 1400 mag regen. The idea behind this build is staying super mobile and being able to engage and disengang whenever i chose to. Cloak is my only ability using magica. Does anyone have a similar build, and if so i would love to get some input as to stats and gear and general playstyle!

I spent a day putting together a build and i made sure not to check out other builds, rather just make it myself and test it - and write on the forums for some advice! Would love to hear from you guys

Summoning @fred4 for his input. Now he (like myself) is a magNB main but if permacloaking is your goal he has made several posts in the past (can’t find them sorry) that describe what you need to do to achieve this. He can correct me if this is incorrect, but I believe mag regen from some sources (like set bonuses and glyphs) will only help you in combat while other sources (racials, drinks and mundus I think) work both in and out of combat, which is key to permacloaking.

Now it also probably also depends what you give up on the Stam side to achieve the mag regen, but I guess that can be determined once you know how much mag regen you need.

For perm stealth, or close to, on a stamblade I would look into the set Prisoner's Rags.

Well... Not judging effectiveness, only your intended use case, let's do math: cloak costs roughly 3.7k magicka, and let's 3 seconds. That means you spend about 1.2k or so magicka per second, average, to keep it up 100% of time. Since regen ticks every other second, that means you need about 2.5k magicka regen to keep up with cloak, assuming you definitely won't spend any more magicka anywhere else.

That said, you pool of magicka being depleted 500-1000 magicka for every time you use cloak, you're still looking at 15-30 uses depending on the food you're eating.

I have myself a permainvisible build, but I run 4k+ magicka regen as I use other skills to distract and CC players, and I also heal, all while having cloak readily available. This same build, with different gear, runs 2.2k regen on a vampire focused use case, capable of about 15-20k damage while still being able to cloak for extended periods, just not permanent.

Worth to say, the 4k regen is a thief assassin build for DB and TG style play, and the vampire is the one that actually makes sense.

They key point is... All mine are magicka based. For Stam base character, I use cloak as a pre-crouching cover, and stay crouched to get the same combat buffs, without needing the perma cloak.

In that situation, because you won't be spamming cloak since you're already properly hidden by crouch, you don't need as much regen since hitting your pool more than two or three times in a row is very unlikely, if you're effective at it. I would say you can get away with even 1.2-ish regen(, allowing you to use a weapon damage glyph or stamina regen instead. Means you're only recovering at roughly half the spending rate, but it'll still allow you for a few repeated uses of you really have to, say while being chased by angry guards, angry players or IC sewer flag bosses.

As a last word, whether magicka or stam, this play style is a LOT of fun! Just know everyone will hate you in cyrodiil. I hate cloakblades just as much as I enjoy playing them.

I say "made" because I can't claim I invented it. I'm sure at some point someone put these sets together and used them. But I digress...

I get good recovery, both stam and magicka, mostly due to the recovery drink I use. It's as close to a perma stam build I found. You could replace a set with Willows Path to push it further at the cost of damage if you'd like.

For DW, you could just replace rally with a skill of your choice, (rending slashes for another DoT I'd suggest) and Executioner with spin to win. 😁

That would be 5 piece seducer, 5 bright throat boast, 1 piece chikethorn, one piece shadowrend, all light, divines, on magicka regen mundus. You want mages guild first and fourth passives with inner light slotted, as well as light armor passives and class ones. If you run this one on high elf or Breton, even better.

The way to actually make this able to push damage would be to run spell damage enchants on rings, instead of regen, and maybe spell damage mundus too. Regen then would drop to about 3k, but spell damage could be about 2.5k or so with gold weapons and unbuffed, on 33-35k magicka and 30-40% crits.

Wouldn't be high burst gank able yet, but you could already go into bombblade realm of possibility.
