Actually broke two fingers and my wrist falling up wet stairs while holding a cat a couple of years ago. Wasn't able to snap my fingers for months. That when i got the diagnosis of osteoarthritis. This year it seems to bother me more while gaming than i have noticed in the past. Also i have some concerns about carpal tunnel syndrome. Still trying to work out the kinks with my VA paperwork b4 considering going there. Thought i would try some home remedies first.

One of those hand strength exercisers. Those are even good for people without problems and of any age. They can prevent problems before they happen.

Yeah, I have carpal's too and the controller is so much better, IMO. Also, an occasional 'toke' doesn't hurt, either. :)

there is Technology today that is being worked on that allows for controls to be solely directed by eye movement, it would cost alot of Gold but intime it will be made public and affordable.

I've found Voltaren topical gel helps with close to the surface joints like the back of the hand. Doesn't do anything for deeper joints and like @SkerKro I need oral meds as well to maintain quality of life.

The gel filled wrist rests for keyboard and mouse help if you use a pc.

I use an Xbox 360 controller and sit in the livingroom in my comfy chair so my arms and hands can rest in my lap while I play. Only the left and right buttons cause some pain in my fingers if I use them a lot but the rest of my fingers and hands are quite comfortable.

I splurged on an Xbox Pro controller. The racing sticks make thumb movements a lot easier, and my hands cramp less. Also being able to move bar swap to the lower paddles is much more comfortable for me. Doesn't make bar swap happen better, but hey, at least I'm not twisting my hand in an uncomfortable way to do it.

I don't have arthritis, but am working for a diagnosis for a hand/arm problem. I thought the Xbox Elite controller would be good since it lets you remap buttons. But, I found it was too heavy and caused more pain. It might be fine for others, but wanted to give a heads up if anyone is considering one.

I find that if your thumb is that controls the mouse still works without too much pain a 12 button mouse works well.Find that also makes for a more comfortable key config too.Ditch wasd for the arrow keys and bind your commonly used commands adjacent to the keys.Beats the awkwardness of the default bar swap too. This might be a tad different for me though since I have played piano and various other instruments throughout the years.

It can be a real pain . . . literally! When my shoulder froze I ended up having to use a foot activated mouse for clicking. My doctors suggested that for my arthritis that I add turmeric supplement and drinking tart cherry juice every day. That was a tremendous help!
