Yes, during the dungeon events at the end of last year, my partner and I started on FG1. We were new to dungeons, I was CP675, she CP 705 and completely unaware of any of the bosses or any mechanics, I think we had crafted sets but all were training trait.
It was extremely fun and I think we only died once or twice. We also completed a number of normal base game dungeons and died a lot less over time, although the final boss in the Wayrest Sewers would not stop attacking me and ignored my partner.
Eventually we completed Volenfell, which I was unsure we would finish but we did. I've found delves, public dungeons and world bosses a bit easier these days so maybe we will try to duo some harder dungeons going forward.
I do
about ~2 weeks after horns of the reach hit
level 27
somehow ended up in coldharbour, found vaults of madness
took me 3 hours but I managed to beat it solo... thank you ww form.
My first dungeon absolutely sucked. There wasn't a group finder so had to stand out front of Spindleclutch looking for a group in chat. Finally got in a group and one player ran through killing everything almost before we could get the quest started. I didn't see a couple of the bosses at all.
Players who run ahead still really *!$$ me off. I tend to stick with the slowest player when someone runs ahead. If it gets so that we aren't seeing anything to fight I ask the person to slow down. When I get the typical "I can solo this just keep up" I tell them I'm not there to be their cheerleader and leave group. If a low level is in group I will ask if they want to run it again so they can see everything. Most times now it is a player with multiple characters that doesn't mind running quick but every once in a while you get that player in there for the first time and they appreciate being able to take their time.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
Yes was a completely useless, tank with a two hander and no taunt, who kept getting killed.
To be fair I had not stepped foot in a dungeon until then was a little over CP160 at the time, a guild mate needed some help finishing a dungeon.
At the time I did not know about base game and DLC dungeons, the dungeon we were doing was Fang Lair, we managed to clear the dungeon despite me getting killed on almost every boss insta kill attack.
Only reason we cleared was because the guy we were there to help was high level and a werewolf basically soloing some of the fights as the rest of the group was wiped out.
It was a long time before I set foot in a dungeon again, but the experience, caused me to do research and create an actual build for my tank.
These days I can tank the base game dungeons on VET.
VET DLC Dungeons are the only ones I still need to work on but getting there.
Back then dungeons were still leveled to the general area of zones they were found in. I don't remember much except for our struggles with final boss. Took us several tries. At one point I tried to kite the boss back through the tunnel, got stuck on a rock and died. But we kept at it and finally beat the boss, left through the back door and broke group there. Good bunch of players. I don't remember their names.
I was one of those noobs who signed up in Group Finder as DPS because I knew I wasn't a healer or a tank, and that was the only option left. I didn't realize I wasn't quite a DPS either. LOL.
First dungeon I ever did was spindleclutch 1 long before the 1 was added, but long after I had been through cadwell's gold. I only wanted to do it for the lorebook, it was with a group of friends in an all-khajiiti guild. I was the healer, but was pretty sure I wasn't really contributing anything to the group lol. Got the book, everything died quickly, didn't really learn any of the mechanics.
After that it was a lot of time before I went into another dungeon again, it was the Blessed Crucible in the Rift (again only because I wanted the lorebook), me and a friend tried to duo it and well, we died a ton of times on everything, the Durzogs at the beginning, the enemies in the camp, the giant, eventually we finally got to the final round against the Werewolves in the middle of the dungeon and couldn't make it passed them, so we gave up.
Then I took a break for some years and came back, and after some time joined a dungeon finder group for Blessed Crucible. Finally got that book, I was kinda carried though, for some reason that troll boss took forever and the tank - if he was an actual tank, I couldn't tell, kept running around with the troll boss running after him rather than keeping him in one spot. I was a DPS and didn't know how to DPS so that boss took forever, the others had quit or something, because I don't remember them there. Eventually finished the dungeon I think, or maybe not. Maybe I left after I got the book.
Then I decided to learn how the mechanics of the game worked after One Tamriel happened, and months later, the next dungeon I did was Blessed Crucible again (my 4th ever dungeon attempt) and this time I went in solo, and did it with ease.
My first dungeon was Fungal Grotto and I was carried through it by a couple higher level players. I just followed them and looted. Wish every dungeon was that easy.
Now that you say it I wish I could. I’ve got no recollection. The closest thing I remember is being on my first character, a Stam DK, and walking into my first public dungeon in Gelmumbra, I think, back before one Tamriel when quests were level specific and I just got totally obliterated by the first four enemies. Now, being on the other side 4+ years later and into Endgame PvP and some PvE, I honestly miss those naive times a little. The sense of wonder is definitely gone. Now it’s just about stacking bodies in PvP, also fun but very different.
I think one of the 1st dungeons I did was Scalecaller Peak.
All I did until then was questing and finding out how the game works, so I had no idea about DLC dungeons.
Someone in chat asked if anyone else wanted to join for a Scalecaller Peak run and me wanting to learn how the game works said okay I'll join.
Lets say I didn't went back there for a couple of months because of that (bad) experience, we did finish.
Now I can do dungeons solo (which are soloable) and did SP a few times without any major issues.
The first was Banished Cells. I went in, got the update for undaunted, and left
The second was Eldar Hollow 1 or Wayrest Sewers 1 with a group finder group. It was an insane fast run, thats why i forgot and gave up on grouping. Years later i grouped again with my PvP Magplar for the Indrik tickets. Still insane fast runs.
Brand new player, khajiit sorcerer in light armor using 2H. Light armor gives spell resistance and I have shields so I'm a tank right?
Out of nowhere someone messages me and ask if I'm a tank. Affirmative!
It was Normal Darkshade Caverns (Darkshade Caverns I today).
I got yelled at (text chat) by 2 players, then kicked on the first boss, and the third one kindly explained to me the requirements for being a tank. I started leveling 1h/shield right after that.
It was that or Normal Banished Cells with one guy slotting a no-set healing staff to clear the first boss after a few wipes without heals, not sure.
All of that back in 2015, now I run HM vet trials on a weekly basis.

Ah yes, my first dungeon in ESO was about three months after game release. FG1 with a group of friends. Level... 16 I think I was, stamblade with dual wield/bow though I had no idea about game mechanics, gear or skills. To be fair, I think only one of the group had any clue about how the game actually worked. I picked whatever skills looked cool and whatever gear sounded good.
We walked to the dungeon and went in through the front entrance. Pulled the first trash mobs.
Wipe.
Picked ourselves up, killed them, moved on. Rinse and repeat. Until the first boss. Which was wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe... We never actually finished the dungeon or even took down that boss. But we had FUN!
PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!
Not my 1st dungeon but most liked time in one ( before ALL the changes came about) 1 shouting the ash titan and the valkyn skoria on my 1 shot Willie bow build in vCoA2 at v3
I can't remember the first one, but I remember the first "few." One was Arx Corinium, and it took us forever to defeat the last boss on normal, because none of us had a clue what we were doing. I think our combined dps was around 4-10k. We had a decent healer though, because though everyone died at least once, we didn't wipe as a group...and people knew how to res the dead while someone kept the boss busy. When it was over, there was a collective sigh of relief.
When I first started playing, I wouldn't talk in any chat because I was female and didn't want attention. I did become friends with a couple of guys who were really nice and we decided to go into BC on normal. I did come on mic then because I felt comfortable with these two guys.
We ended up getting to the first boss....the ghost, and failed miserably. We tried and tried but couldn't do it. I was also a weird hybrid Nightblade wearing a mix of heavy, medium, and light with my attributes even across all 3 and the steed mundus and switched between all sorts of weapons and skills.
I eventually switched to all stamina when I joined a dungeon guild and they guided me. Then, I could run vWGT no problem. I ended up being one of the core DPS and the tank could solo and our MagSorc was a DPS/healer and we could help guild members get through vWGT for the Kena helm. *back when you couldn't trade it and wasn't a guaranteed drop
Then the leader of the groups suggest I go Mageblade a couple months in. Even though I was hesitant, I decided to try it and never gone back.
Now here I am, loving my Mageblade 4 years later still.

FG1 normal, in 2015, soloed it while the other 3 casuals did their quests and ignored chat. 0 communication, as if they played on a controller. Fu*king degenerates. You still get these noobs quite often while you LFG for randoms. They only have to say something when they FOMO as you are going too fast resulting in threats to kick you from the group, if they raid with premade grp, they will actually kick you out just because you progress your style. I hope ZoS will create ultimate LFG tool on upcoming 24 update, so that these newbs wont qq about you playing the dungeon the way you like to play and actually group you with people that progresses within dungeons without doing quests and doing it your way to prevent and put an end to this cycle of retardation.
Veteran dungeons are a whole another story and level of sickness and retardation. An experienced player like me would expect the whole group to have enough experience in the dungeon to finish it quite reliably. You do so by acknowledging that your group is experienced by asking in the group chat if people are experienced and familiar with the mechanics.
I'll give two common case scenarios.
First: Group won't respond to your question or overall to anything, and just expect that they will be carried throughout, keeping silence like rats in the dark. (leeching)
Second: Group will tell you that they are experienced and in the end being liars as they wipe every second, because they won't know what they are doing. (*** leeching)
Note: When in good mood, I do explain mechanics, some try to learn, some just will leave grp, and some will just continue keeping silence. But you don't have hours to spend just to finish a vet dungeon, in the best case. Worst is that you spent hours for nothing and eventually leave the group, leaving you really frustrated.
Ohh yeah, when in bad mood this stuff gets me and a lot of other people quite toxic. And these are pretty damn good reasons to be toxic. Leeching is bad for others health, mentally and psychically. So think twice before hitting that LFG for vet, or expect to be sacrificed to Molag Bal himself and suffer thousand deaths.

Many years ago - was when had veteran levels, before CP, thats how long ago.
Was vet level something. Was travelling through Greenshade, saw some lower levels lurking outside what I now know was City of Ash.
This was on consoles, so no chat or text / no communication possible at all really. Get idea they wanted to group with me to do dungeon. Wait for them to invite as if I start group will be matched to my level. So eventually get group and in we go.
Not sure any of us had any idea whatsoever what we were doing. Ran around killing things blindly. Think we were 4 dds. Only wiped once on fire boss up on platform. So finished dungeon but had no idea about drops or gear or anything really.
At least I didn’t - maybe they were all superfly dungeon masters who got stuck with an idiot. 😆😉
I don't remember the exact dungeon but i was low level and it was a normal dungeon. Maybe fungal grotto. I was there with my blue staff just weaving and spamming light attack at mobs thinking i was actually doing something when in reality it was the other guys who were doing all the damage. Half my gear was broken and none of it even had stats i needed for what i was trying to build, my abilities basically consisted of what looked the coolest instead of what was the most effective and i had no proper rotation to speak of. My magicka was almost always below 20% and my health was only sustained by the great healer on my team. After killing the final boss i got some random weapon but loved it and felt great after finishing it.
It was a simpler time but i enjoyed every minute of it.
