ESO no longer ad-free

ESO now starts with an announcement page inside the game which says you can get a mount by using the service of another company. What's next? A Coca Cola mount? Perhaps with a skin design resembling the Coca Cola logo? Reminding gamers about who is "sponsoring" the game, like in F1 races.

No point mentioning that ESO is publishing an ad for an unethical company that's known for immoral practice, such as monitoring those who use it's services, as described by major newspapers and books like "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism" by Zuboff. But no point mentioning that here because Google and many other Silicon Valley companies are doing more or less the same...

I'm not quitting ESO yet, but it's time to explore other computer games where you don't subscribe to get ads and lag.

Cya :)

I remember the days when City of Heroes went F2P and the in-game billboards had irl advertisements. This thread is a disappointment, and should go to their room and think about what they did, plus no dessert after dinner.

The Cup Noodles sidequest in Final Fantasy 15 was pretty hilarious, though. (they really went all-in on that product-placement deal)

No, I just see a twitch prime loot promotion very differently from you and OP.

ESO has been advertising in game for a while now. Every time you open it up you get hit with Crown Store splashes. They aren't using it to advertise Twitch. They are using Twitch to advertise ESO. To that end they are doing yet another style of promotion, just like loot drops, and ESO Live to drive up viewer count in that directory. More views, higher visibility. All just part of ZeniMax's marketing department drive to make sales.

Comes with Amazon Prime though. Not that it matters to me. I don’t have nor will I ever get Amazon prime until their workers unionize.
I don’t buy off Amazon either. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about Amazon Web Services just like there’s nothing I can do about Adobe Flash Player. The way Amazon cannibalizes small business by selling the same product at a loss until the sb is dead is shameful.

Actually pushing this to twitch prime is a GREAT thing for the game. The larger the audience the more incentive there is for ZOS to work on performance fixes. To you think the casual gamer looking to pick up ESO during free week and who wants to try both PVE and PVP wants to deal with the horrendous lags and desync? No, they don't. Bringing it to the masses and bringing these problems more to the front lines will help the rest of the community get the changes we want to see in the game on the performance side.

I just get amazon prime, get the loot I want, cancel amazon prime with refund.

Só... You're complaining about free stuff? Really? Reeeeeally? Things that will bring more people to ESO through a twitch exposure too? That helps the game stay alive by bringing more players .. is that really what you're complaining about? Did I get it right?

You need a therapist, sorry to break it to you. You need to treat yourself properly to not be this bitter with the wrong stuff.

Of all the bad things about this game, complaining about a free good looking mount? Really..?

    Hard to believe....
