Kicked for spamming -- bug??

I was just kicked from the game for "spamming" per error message. However, I haven't sent any messages - I was only moving. Then, the server couldn't seem to let me back in.

Hopefully this won't be a problem all day. Could make fighting bosses really exciting.

I am going to assume you are on PC. Many addons make requests of the server and those are messages and can get you kicked.

Edit: you can even get a social ban as a result. I am not sure I have heard of anyone not able to log back in afterwards though.

Generally it happens when there's a delay with the server and a bunch of actions get forwarded at once, causing the server to register that as spam. Some addons can do it - guild messaging addons are particularly bad.

If you can't log back in after a while or you find that you are unable to interact socially when you do, contact Support and explain the situation.

I've had this happen on PS4 a few times. It's not pc exclusive.

happens on PS4 when removing lots inactive players from guild.

Happened to me on XBOX. I tried to actually play the game only once in last two months during wrothgar event. I was kicked out of VMA after about 5 minutes. The game froze for a minute then kept playing then froze again and then I was dropped to loading screen with the same kicked for spamming message. I think I am done.

I think the game remembered the time you spammed so it kicked you after thorough evaluation and investigation.
