    Reasoning please. Explain the benefit, requirement, and what you would propose as a curated skill line.

    I can’t see any immediate reason why we need one. If you want a close range weapon, there are melee (stamina) weapons. If you’re thinking a spellsword type build, maybe propose a class or means to make hybrids viable.

    I can understand the Stamina bias, 4 weapon lines with 4 sub classes all having different perks, vs 1 weapon line with 3 sub classes all having different perks, if we were to have Spell Crafting.

    Well now we don't. The game needs to be balanced around that fact, with melee magicka weapons or until Spell Crafting is introduced, which I believe will never happen.

    Even worse is that Zos seems determined to shoe horn magicka builds into having to use a Resto Staff, leaving offensive builds with just 1 offensive weapon bar or bust.

    They probably won't because those already using hybrids would get a massive buff...No one would seriously use pure builds anymore (though I don't think that is a bad thing, I can imagine the forum whine).

    Stamina DPS has an increasing number of class skills (a few more wouldn't hurt, stam sorc) FG skill line, 3 weapon skill lines (sns not included), Werewolf and can also use Psijic skills.

    Magicka has a few more class skills, Mage's Guild, Vampire, Psijic and a single weapon skill line (resto not included).

    Stamina weapons allow people to play either a melee or ranged build effectively.

    Magicka gets one ranged weapon dressed up as three (but actually two) magicka weapons.

    Magicka Templar, Magicka Nightblade and Magicka Dragonknight are, in many ways, designed to be melee-focused.

    I think it is clear that a melee magicka weapon needs to be added, to balance things out.

    In fact, to give stamina something and appease the bard fans, how about a stamina bard "weapon"? Could be used as a stamina healing/buffing weapon.

    Oh man, I don't even have enough bar space to pack my stamsorc and stamDK up with all the class toys we have avaible!

    Anyway, I don't see why they shouldn't add melee magicka, spears, spellcrafting and other goodies. Except, of course, the inaptitude to balance things without making everything bland and the same.

    Spears & Polearms - Hybrid 2 handed weapons (crafted at woodworking station).
    - Combat staff - 2 handed melee weapon, more effective with magicka builds (mystic monk-style weapon).
    - Spear - 2 handed melee weapon, more effective with stamina builds.

    The weapon line could have some skills that would cost stamina and some that would cost magicka, but all of them would have magicka & stamina morphs.

    DW mini staff sticks or something similar--maybe orbs. Does mag dmg vs. stam. Not that hard to implement, I would think. Same rules as DW just now it uses mag as base computation.

    There's one perfectly valid reason for this that has nothing to do with PvE, PvP and their respective metas, and that reason is class fantasy. When every magicka character has no other viable option than to carry a wooden stick, class fantasy suffers. It may not be a reason people focused on nothing but numbers will accept, but here it is, anyway. :)

    It is actually possible to do magicka-melee with stamina weapons. I have a character who is like that. It just presents some unique challenges that... honestly? I find the challenge kinda fun.

    I do not enjoy using staves and never have.

    In games such as D&D my wizards and sorcerers use crossbows (dex helps with those range touch attack spells too!).


    Since Daggerfall I never had my battle mages use staves. It is not me and I would like this option being made more available in Elder Scrolls Online.

    That's how that concept works in ESO.

    Also, the "conjured weapons" in other TES games never really were "magica melee" - they were magiked up melee weapons that -still- were wielded by the normal weapon skills, NOT the magical skills. Thus they would translate into stamina weapons in ESO... and who'd want to magic up a stamina weapon without rune or set bonus to use???

    Give us more OPTIONS!

    Also ZOS... imagine how you could sell each monster style again in an "alternate weapons" pack! The first one had shield, staff, bow and one each 1H and 2H... a new one might get spell focus, crossbow, polearm and another, different selection of 1H and 2H, and pretty much everyone who spent crowns for the first would be kinda likely to buy the second as well... PROFIT!

    Considering you're using a staff at melee range 90% of the time in this game, I'm not sure why there isn't some kind of close-range magicka weapon.

    And variety would be wonderful :)
