Screw the patch FIX THE LAG- ZOS wants talk about the patch, NOT THE LAG

Way to go zos.

ZOS - “Lets develop a patch that makes no sense, NERFS everywhere, that will really get the forums talking. Let’s make the patch so ridiculous that everyone will talk about the patch and NOT THE LAG!”

Smart zos. All the posts on here are about your stupidity in gameplay decisions and NOT the lag... in all honesty you are trying to be smart.

I don’t buy it, and you all shouldn’t either.

FIX

YOUR

SERVERS

100mbps, hardwired, Xbox one X, SSD, subbed account and been playing since launch day 1...

and I still can’t fight without lag and without getting booted to the home screen. Damn, you make NBA 2 k servers look godly....

So. Over. It.

they cant fix the lag. theyve had 5 years of development to do exactly that, everything they do increases lag, from patch to patch to patch. Lag, desync, and bugs get worse every increment.

thats the proof of it, 5 years and worse and worse, if they had an answer they would have found it already. Deal with it or play something else.

    It's all in perspective.

Let's not call it lag. It's more like one big cast time for everyone.

    People love cast times, right??

I kind of agree with you. Maybe they've been instructed to not waste time on it or something. Or there is such an integral flaw that it cant be fixed without massive overhauls/insane downtown and the higher ups dont think the lost money will be worth it. Like honestly people are still spending a ton of money on subs and cosmetic items. Fixing the lag might bring back a handful of old PvPers but that's really it.

If you were a greedy business person, then in this light spending any resources on fixing lag isn't worth it. Instead they spoon feed us some BS about character composite changes or whatever (which they already did spoiler it didn't work) and say some light FPS improvements are coming for older systems lol.

Which might be true, I don't know.

I mostly meant that there's probably not some huge conspiracy going on to get us all salty and prickly about nerfs so we ignore performance. I think most of these decisions are made like they typically are in corporations-- one department decides to do something and maybe, possibly, has a single meeting with another dept. Then they each go on their merry ways doing whatever they want, subject to higher-up whim.

I’m not looking for a golden egg or a miracle here. There is ALWAYS going to be lag due to the massive amount of computations that the system must process. HOWEVER I have been playing for five years, I bought the game DAY ONE and the state of the game is unacceptable. The disconnects, freezes, everything is beyond unacceptable.

NOT ONCE have I come on here and complained about lag, but the state of the game is borderline unplayable. And don’t you dare say, “boohoo go play something else,” I love this game and that is the ONLY reason I deal with it. But everything has a breaking point and this game is reaching it.

When someone can’t go into SOLO content and play maelstrom without random dying it is unacceptable. When you are trying to 1v1 in the middle of Cyrodiil with no other players around and you crash to home, that is unacceptable.

I have put a THOUSAND dollars into this game (eso plus 15*50 months; I unsub when pissed) and all the chapters...

I expect a working product when I have invested this much time and money into this game. The game is getting worse. The lag was not nearly as bad as it was three years ago, it is 10 times worse. If I knew what I knew now back then I would have got out- but now I am so financially deep into this game it makes pulling the band aid off that much harder.

I don’t expect miracles, and I don’t expect a magic button, but I do expect a WORKING game. And so should you. Keep this in mind, if you have subbed and bought the expansions you have paid over a thousand dollars. One. Thousand . Dollars. What do you expect out of something when you put that investment in? No matter how much money you make, you all value your money.

Hell, one dollar was enough of a bet for Mortimer...

They talked about server performance at QuakeCon this year for like 20 minutes or so and even showed us a map of what they are going to do with upgrades and performance issues and when. Y'all need to search for this stuff more often, they talk about it. Just because you don't receive an email from them personally doesn't mean they are ignoring any concerns.

I reached my breaking point a few weeks ago. Like you, I’ve put a ton of money into this game, and it was really hard to justify taking an extended break at first. When I did, though, I realized just how crazy it was that I’d been putting up with such atrocious performance for so long. Other multiplayer games on console don’t run this poorly. Battlefield players complain bitterly on the forums if they get even TWO SECONDS of frame rate loss, and I can only sit here and laugh at their performance complaints. BF servers can handle 64 players with barely a hiccup. Put 64 players in the same location in Cyrodiil or around a wayshrine in ESO, and you’re deep in slideshow territory — possibly with a crash to home screen for good measure. I have not crashed ONCE after playing BFV almost nonstop for the past three weeks. On ESO, crashing was a daily occurrence that frequently happened multiple times. I lost track of the number of reports I sent off after bluescreening post-Elsweyr.

Rip off the band aid. Just do it. You don’t have to put up with this garbage. None of us do. All of your stuff will still be there if they ever decide to put out this embarrassing dumpster fire. In the meantime, you owe it to yourself to spend your free time engaging in a hobby that isn’t as frustrating as playing ESO on console is.

Well there is your problem. You need better internet at 100mbs there. You only getting 100 mega bits per second. That is really slow for gaming.

You realize that you can play MMOs and other online multiplayer games with WAY slower bandwidth speeds than that without a hitch, right? If the person you quoted were to, say, upgrade to 1Gbps, they’d be able to download updates faster, but it would have no perceptible impact on in-game performance whatsoever.

Expecting us to wait until 2020 for a performance fix is a bit rich, especially considering that performance was actually semi-okay on console pre-Elsweyr. I’d really like to know what they managed to screw up so badly with Elsweyr that resulted in extreme frame rate loss and rubber banding in deserted vanilla PVE locations like The Rift. How does it take a year to fix the mistakes of a single update?

the mistakes of a single update poured over years of mistakes from multiple "single" updates.

Pretty much, yes. Keep in mind that this is not work that is just starting now. This is work that has been going on, and has delivery dates over the next year. They are replacing major systems in the engine, and the announced work may not even be everything they are working on. There may be other systems being worked on that will take even longer. We have no way of knowing exactly what they are working on.

Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

There are some great titles coming out.. Borderlands 3 in just a few weeks even.

The time they are taking to fix their performance problems, I plan to go play borderlands, or maybe other titles. Don't forget to cancel your sub, ensure they recognize the loss. Maybe in a damn year when they have their fixes rolled out, and a new season of nerfs are out.. And there will be story and other content to catch up on...

Yall.. That's the answer. Don't sit on these forums playing into all this drama. Leave the game, cancel your sub, and come back to it later after they have done their thing.

A hundred threads won't change anything. The only thing they care about is $$ and until that's impacted they have no reason to fix this shitshow.
