Nerf Bolt Escape

Plain and simple...

A Sorc using it around 7 times back to back to back is just stupid....

They can go from in your face to almost out of view distance in SECONDS....

Increase the cost so they can use it 2x at most...

That's what makes me give up on an mmo after a few months. The crazy nurfing/catering that most mmo's succumb to.

My own class, Dragonknight, has some abilities that are too strong at the moment. As such, nerfs to some of these stronger skills are called for, to keep them in line with other abilities. Likewise, some of my other abilities seem to be a little too weak, and are in need of buffs. Believe it or not, the Sorcerer is no different. The game is not perfect, and neither is the balance between class and weapon abilities. Buffs and nerfs are needed for the long term health of the game. If you are too short sighted to understand this, then by all means, cry foul and find another game. I, for one, want a balanced PvP experience.

Oh great another crybaby crying over a skill that is designed for escape working as intended. Has the op thought that maybe just maybe the sorc had 50 points put into mana? So making it cost more would just make it unuseable? It posters like this that make me sure the world is screwed.

I am not asking to nerf damage...I am talking about the spammable skill that can take you out of visual site in seconds lol..

A skill able to take you from melee to out of visual site in a matter of seconds and is spammable...yeah ok that is balanced.

What does a sorc have to give up to use it so much? Damage? nope....resistances? nope...

Bolt escape can be countered,
you just need to figure out how.

It's very similar to the crystal shard spamming you'll see some people do.
If you just block, they use up all of their magicka and can't defend themselves.

Mages that repeatedly use bolt escape actually place themselves in a very dangerous position in the same way shard spammers do.

@oblongship that was the point. Asking for a nerf this early in the game cycle is crazy. Let things play out and go from there. Allowing them to run is viable as you should be stunning/ccing them before they see you.

Why so they can cast their stun breaker and have a 5 sec immunity to my stun and instant cast run away again?

Yes it is early in the game cycle but this ability is so clearly broken...so amazingly over powered I can easily call nerf on it without any hesitation.

There are plenty of other abilities, like attacks, stuns and everything else that seem OP but I am not saying anythign because I know skills/armor/health pools will come into play at later levels...

If that's OP, being able to pull enemies directly to you is OP,
and teleporting next to your enemy for a first strike is OP,
and running up to your enemy for a knockdown is OP,
and jumping into the air with a set of wings is OP.

Going from melee to out of site in seconds is far to OP...

Don't worry it is getting nerfed...we all know it...sitting here arguing wont save it.

What am I saying then? Increase the cost so you can only do it a couple of times...you still get distance but it isn't melee to nearly out of view distance in seconds.

I have melee guys. She is not one of them. She brings the smack and is perfect for that mission, well pretty good anyway, and she does not dance. I have all 28 meter stiff on my bar, well apart from my pets which are good in PvE, probably not so great in the Wars. She can do a pretty good healer too, my other bar.

She is a magic beast and because of that she is a glass canon. She should be able to use her one real strength to protect herself as well as fry the party.

I've killed many who were using bolt escape, and been killed many times trying to get away... the ones who get away are higher level than me and/or speccd better for escape, or completely uncommitted to the combat.. ie they were scouting and already had distance to begin with. I traded some of my escape for more dps, and heal ability so I get caught if I commit to a fight.

I use mine to get from one flank to the other fast, and it costs me a ton of power to do it. I keep magic pots handy and a resto staff... It's not a free get away if I have spent any commitment to the fight.

Altmer with max regen and magic reduce in lightning line and other ability lines and I still blow through power pretty quick if I want to cast damage or heals as well as bolt. I'm only 37, not vet.

If you are uncommitted to the fight you should have a greater chance of escape as it takes an entire 20% of your active bar just to be able to escape. That's one less armor buff, one less situational damage etc, just to be able to have a higher chance of escape. Its a specific build type.. meant to be in and out.

Theres a huge difference from a lvl 10-40 player losing a higher level or veteran player to bolt escape or stealth, or mist eetc, and equally matched players NEVER able to counter it. You are not losing just to a spell you are loosing to better magica regen or Magica cost player. It does cost quite a bit to spam it if you don't have great spec for magic conservation, AND lots of light armor. You just don't have any idea how much mana it costs because you have not used it at lower levels and at full magic spec and full upgrades.

I am leveling 6 chars and it takes a while. I am sure you know what you are talking about but I am building a bunch of chars and the Altmer witch is pure power with just enough on the side to keep her alive and move out of harm's way. In PvE she has missions at twice her level and routinely kills 2 up mobs at 6 - 8 levels above her.

Everything goes into more smack or more regeneration and I have a dedicated Enchanter/Potioner starting to level well, who is supplying enchants and, and some pretty kick ass potions to her. She has a Provisioner who putting out some pretty powerful foods and drinks now. My Orc makes her 2 bits of Heavy, he is getting good and she does her own Clothing and Wood. It's team effort and slow because of that.

I have an Imperial DK tank and an Argonian Templar as well.

I'll know a lot more in six months.

Well, as far as I comprehend the lore, Bolt Escape existed at the time of the Cyrodiil war while Molag Bal was attempting to pull Tamriel and Coldharbour together.
But what does that have to do with how this skill impacts PvP balance?
