"Unknown Error Has Occured" when trying to load into a character

I am currently getting booted back to the login menu every single time I try to log into my 45 Templar. The character loads, I get a world loading screen, and then about 30 seconds later I am back at the main menu. Generally it is ONLY this character, as I can log in my other 4 just fine. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem, or is it just me. Any help would be appreciated as I have been unable to login to my main for more than 15 minutes in about 2 days now.

same, happens with my main character aswell...
sometimes it goes through the "Requesting character load..." and then I get D/C from the world loading screen, "An unknown error has occurred", I am in Glenumbra.

Does your character have a Hireling?

I never saw this until two of my characters obtained crafting hirelings and now I am regularly getting this problem whenever the hireling mails me something.

Maybe a coincidence, but Saturday was the first time I received hireling mail and also the first time I saw this error.

As far as I can gather 'unknown error' is impossible to diagnose thanks to the helpful nature of the error, but it seems to me it's connected to network problems trying to connect to the zone servers or login server.

its definitely related to network problems, im getting it so bad now cant even login anymore. another weekend without any playtime sadly. early access game ran fine never had an issue now this...

My alts all have hirelings, but the character I can't login on doesn't. Not sure if that matters though, seeing as the mail is account wide. Still having this problem, but now it's sporadic. I can sometimes login to my Templar, but then I eventually hit and endless load screen and when I try to get back in I get the error again. I'm getting close to just canceling my sub, and moving on. I don't want to level another character just to have it happen again.

Have the same problem which started today . Cant log into any of my characters. Either get connection timed out or Unknown error.

Now it's happening on every character, so I can't play at all. Tried everything I can think of, including reinstalling the game completely. Not sure what the hell is wrong.

Same here, never saw "unknown error" till they started mailing me stuff.

I used to have this problem every time i logged into the game but i found out that the Add-on "ESOhead" was the issue. Once i disabled it i have way faster loading screens and no issues since. Hope this helps!

I have same problem here. It seems Burrmab was right, but right before like 3 patches ago it worked w/o a problem. So something was changed, that doesint get along with this ESOhead addon.
