Love comments like this that are just completely ignorant of what is played and used at endgame nor understanding how dummy parses translate to trials.
You can use Zaan on the majority of bossfights in the game. Just because magicka can play ranged there often is no need to.
No class will do the damage they do on a trial dummy in an actual trial. All it shows is the maximum performance a class could achieve (if 100% major force was actually a thing). With a bunch of these parses you can still see how classes rank up against each other.
In Elsweyr one pet sorc was doing ~90k on the trial dummy and people managed parses like this with 71k single target on a dragon: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/585185084252880896/606698188937756682/unknown.png
In Scalebreaker one pet sorc does ~97k on trial dummy so you can estimate the damage to only go up. Especially if they finally fixed Zaan to work on dragons which would be the only reason not to use it.

Michaelkeir✭✭✭✭✭Wow.....The dislike for pet sorcs is real. I main one (98% PvE) and have since console release and I love the class. Learned the game on the class. Been seeing "nerf sorc" request for years, but now...I'm worried. Every MMO I've played i used a pet class. It's my favorite still more so because I prefer to solo most content in games.
I'm still not changing my build. I'll still rock pet sorcs. No matter what.12 -
Betty_Booms✭✭✭As much as i mourn the usefulness of the pets being removed, it was over preforming. The amount of heals and damage i could provide in dlc dungeons while keeping up a steady 40k dps was disgusting. But it was blasphemous that a class which is not templar could off heal to such extent, so i rerolled a templar for the upcoming patch.

I have hard time understand ZOS motives in this because they have to now that most of the players are casuals, so if they will focus on the top players, they will say goodbye to the majority of their revenue. What I know if I have small enjoyment in ESO I will quit.6 -

I made this mistake at lower ranks, until I learned that I can fight more efficiently replacing the twilight with skills like magelight (increased critical rate) and power surge (major sorcery).
Another theoretical option to gain major sorcery would be entropy from the mages guild skill line, but it has two disadvantages:
- just 20 sec instead of 33 sec
- it currently is broken, heavy staff attacks no longer work corerctly once you cast it
As a consequence, I think I might be forced to use the twilight again once power surge is nerfed, and if others come to the same conclusion, you will end up with many MORE of the annoying fluttering beasts than less.Edited by markulrich1966 on August 12, 2019 1:47PM1 -

Kurkikohtaus✭✭✭In the lifetime of this game, there has never seemed to be a master plan towards which classes were being nudged with regards to balance in both PvE and PvP. Changes and nerfs have always seemed to be knee-jerk bandaids that "fix" one problem but create many more.

My other main is a DK tank and that last SnB change was the final straw for me and I voiced my opinion by cancelling my sub was only here for a year but just got sick to death of the constant play changes. I just started mid year last year so wasn't around for the previous fun DK nerfs. We can talk about all these changes all we want but until it affects the revenue nothing will change. Just look at WoW for example, after people fled like rats it's now time for Wow Classic.
Until someone in accounting shows a bar graph in a meeting that shows an ever decreasing revenue stream that correlates to each nerf/change nothing will change. It's that way with most corporations, they either change or go the way of Kmart and Sears.
