Advice on making money in this game?

I just reached level 20 with my current character. But I am still struggling on making a significant amount of money in this game? I pooled all my resources from all of my character's I think I had around 12,000 when I started this new character. I do steal as often as I can. I am not a part of any guild. I really hate that I have to have a guild. To be able to sell stuff. I am still waiting on a daily reward of 100,000 this month. So I can max out my bank. I really hate that MMO's in general, because they give you so little gold. I really wish MMO's weren't such a grind. So any advice on how I can make some real "bank" in this game? Thanks :)

    Buy low, sell high
    or
Grind desirable mats & gear and sell them

Problem is, nobody will want your level 20 gear, you won't get any decent coin unless the gear is CP160.
As for mats, if you don't already have the gold to play the "buy low, sell high" game, you'll have to do the same thing the rest of us is doing, which is grinding.

At your level, it's basically either go fishing and sell your Perfect Roe (sells for 10k-15k each) or grind upper/lower Craglorn for Potent Nirncrux (sells for 10k-12k each).

For building your initial grubstake, the big advice is "Crafting writs".

The gold reward you get is like for any other quest, but you can do them in well under a minute each. And if you do them at Tier 1, the level of investment required is low -- little cash if any, no skill points, and little time spent to get eligible. Alchemy and Provisioning may or may not feel like exceptions to that rule, but the other 5 crafts are simple and straightforward to do writs for. Just the 5 straightforward crafts are over 1000 gold/day/character, with little effort.

If that's not enough, you can make alt characters. :)

You start farming gear that people might want to buy at CP160. However there are many ways to make gold in this game.

    1. Just do a Zone, selling all the loot you get to NPCs will net you 25K to 35K per zone after repairs after doing the content. See Number 6 for some drops.
    2. Farm a Public Dungeon, some are better than others but I can net 5K gold in 30 minutes just from NPC Drops in some of them, not counting what loot I get to sell or vendor. Some are much lower in the gold per Mob Group, so pay attention.
    3. Legerdemain, filling your bags with White, Green and Blue Loot will net you 5K to 15K or more, each day, on each character.
    4. Farm and sell in guild stores Alchemy Reagents and Mats. Some flowers sell for 100 to 300 Gold, each.
    5. Do low level crafting writs on high level characters, you get max gold and top tier material surveys if you do the surveys on a skilled character.
    6. Farm Zones for desired gear in the Impenetrable, Divines, Infused (Large Pieces), Sharpened, Precise and Training traits. Farm Dolmens for Purple Jewelry for those sets. Decon, research or vendor the off trait and green/blue jewelry.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I get my lower level characters to Orisinium in Wrothgar pretty early on. It doesn’t take long to easily make 4-5k in one trip. As you level up you find more blue and purple loot, making more.

I don’t follow the rule about only stealing green or purple since I find it quicker to just take anything 40g or above.

I'd probably fish in Summerset. Pyandonean bottles are far more plentiful than Perfect Roe or Potent Nirncrux and they sell for about 2.5K on PC NA. You get a chance for Perfect Roe as well.

With the Orsinium event you probably get 2x material drops picking flowers, there, based on past history. Corn Flower is the highest value at about 400.

My own preferred method is Tel Var farming. Technically you could go to IC and participate, but it would be super tough at your level. However there is the "zombie" section in the blue faction sewers, which isn't heavily frequented anymore. Grinding your character there, preferably with one higher-level buddy, has a couple of advantages. You gain a lot of XP, you level the Fighter's Guild and you get a lot of Key Fragments in addition to Tel Var, which you keep, even if you get killed. Key Fragments sell for around 70 each. It's hard for me to estimate a farming time; I play in IC a lot and regularly accumulate full stacks of 200.

Then there's the "let's make a profit from undervalued reagents" method, which works as follows. Fully level your alchemy. Buy Alkahest @ 3 gold each, Fleshfly Larva @ 20 gold each and 1x other ingredient that combines with the two (Imp Stool etc.) @ less than 40 gold each in a guild store. Make poisons from that. A single batch consists of 16 poisons, which you sell to an NPC for 80 gold. Profit results, however this method is quite tedious.

By far the best way to make gold as a brand new character is selling a high-value new motif page during an event. In the early days of the anniversary event, this spring, I sold some chest piece motifs in the 100K to 200K range. It mainly involves participating in the event and being clued into the markets (https://us.tamrieltradecentre.com/), then getting a lucky drop and knowing what it's worth. People pay ridiculous amounts just to be the first to complete a new motif. Your timing has to be right, as prices tend to drop sharply after even just a day. I don't know whether there is anything like it in the current Orsinium event.

Doing crafting writs daily on multiple characters for a chance at valuable gold materials is many a player's bread and butter. I am not sure how far levelled you have to be for a chance to get the gold materials. On PC, get an addon, such as Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter, as well as MultiCraft for the alchemy method (may be superseded by Monday). Master crafting writs, dropped from the dailies, can also be worth a lot. Prices for those vary tremendously, mainly based on how many vouchers they yield.

If you are a fully levelled enchanter, then making CP150 blue glyphs for others to deconstruct and level their enchanting can yield a 10:1 profit. The probable reason the profit is so high is that you cannot batch these up in guild stores. 30 glyphs take up 30 slots (the maximum) and they tend to sit in the guild store for half a week, before someone discovers them and buys all of them. The profit is high, but the turnover is too low for endgame players. However that can make it interesting to someone with no money. It's a similar story with making CP150 rings for others to level their jewelry crafting. Those two skill lines are the hardest to level and require a lot of items to deconstruct.

By the way: Any purple piece of jewelry has a good chance (maybe about 75% with passives) to yield a Zircon grain, worth 2K+. Many people don't do the math on this. If you can find destructible (careful there) purple jewelry priced at below 1.5K, it's worth buying for a shot at a Zircon grain, but make sure to get the relevant Jewelry Crafting passive fully levelled first.

The best way to level enchanting and jewelry is to find a buddy who is in the same boat as you. Create glyphs / rings and deconstruct each others crafted gear. This will give you the most experience. Ideally you want a higher level friend, who'll craft you a lot of CP150 items to deconstruct, though.

I just reached level 20 with my current character. But I am still struggling on making a significant amount of money...
That's your first problem, at level 20, all the basic income (item frops, quest rewards) is kinda meh. And the investment costs for riding and backpack/bank ungrades are high... AND most of the decent moneymakers (farming for high-price stuff to sell in the guild stores) are not yet within your reach.

Everyone is struggling for money at the beginning.

At this point, stealing the daily limit is the best option, and even that will not be too much. (remember to launder the nifty stuff and find a guild store to sell that - furniture plans and such!) Also, TG mambership and perks can be quite helpful in the criminal career... as can all the legerdemain training (now you know why people always need more skill points at first, and why ZOS is selling those "mirrorings" in the crown store for those who like alting)

Don't forget to do your daily crafting writs either! Sure they may not net you a fortune... but hey, gold, materials AND skill advancement? For just a bit of resource farming worth in quick crafting? Easy money!

In any case, if you got the time, farming crafting stuff others might find too tedious can get you a decent income. The PvPlayers always need alchemy ingredients for the best tripots and poisons... and once you have a crafting character up to it, you can make and sell those too if you like that sort of thing.

Things change a lot once you get into the champion ranks, then even the trash items and quest rewards will net you easily a few K just playing through cadwells and further, while eventually you will have maxed all your stuff, riding, bank and backpack... and thus expenses go down... And once you done all the questings, there are dailies, most of which also come with a chance to drop a motiv page on occasion.

And once you hit CP 160... you can start farming gear in earnest to put in guild stores, some of the rarer ones go for nice prices (at this point treasure chests also become vaguely interesting...). Same for the more elusive motiv pages and crafting materials. Especially those motiv pages, as people want their outfit goodieness! At that point, it also makes sense to get in a guild to run dungeons in hope of more elusive motiv pages (drop rate is low, so... its not everyones cuppa)

And as has been said, fishing for roe or farming upper craglorn for nirncrux (appears randomly in all gear crafting nodes) is another option - though be warned, the drop rate is kinda low, you you gotta do a lot to get some of those. There are some CP benefits that are very helpful for the nirncrux farming (faster movement and quick resource mining!), and some armor sets that help too (movement boosters).

And once you have a bit of money... well, you can make the most by trading. Find guild stores that sell something under value, buy it, resell it in your own store. Takes a lot of time and a lot of good judgement and market knowledge, but can net hefty profits.

Count your blessings that the devs startee giving us 100k for free some months. Yes its behind a daily log in, but its still free gold. That wasnt always a thing.

The easiest thing you can do is just quest. Loot EVERYTHING. When your inventory gets full, find a Merchant and vendor it all. Repeat. Do your daily Mount capacity training first to give yourself 60 more inventory slots so you can have bigger hauls. Doing normal group Dungeons also gives you quite a few ornate items to vendor.

Hello and welcome to Eso !

1 - At your level, you don't need to focus on money, it will come little by little as you level up.
2 - In ESO, you don't really need that much gold to gear-up the only thing I've buy when I hit the CP160 for the 1st time was :
    -- Glyph
-- Gold chronium for make legendary jewel (and you've time for that, not a big+ and very expensive.

Here are my advice (and the one I get when started too)
01 - Pick mage and warrior guild at the start to make them level up as you do quest, exploration and dungeon.
02 - Buy Eso+ (very helpful to stock material and unlimited access to DLC content)
03 - If no Eso+, creat many char to stock material (their alot)
04 - Deconstruct all gear you drop at craft station to level-up all job
05 - When you're lv 10, make all crafting certification so you have access to daily wrist
06 - Do these daily all day = easy income
07 - Pick-up every plant, chest, material, food you can see
08 - Find 2-3 Merchant guild with low condition
09 - Sell all brute material (not food and not gear (cuz you're not CP160 yet))
10 - Take your time and enjoy the content
    11 - Profit

If you're a PvP player you can also make money farming tel-var/AP and selling some gold ring that are popular, motif or hakeijo (item needed to craft tri-tat glyph)

    Have fun :)

Its simple to make gold in this game, however it's the response is what everyone knows, but doesnt want to do. Farm, take the time and do it. The gold isnt going to magically appear on your account. Do the time, make the gold. There is no big secret. Grind it out and take the time.

If you dont wanna trade or dont have the capital to start trading, go farm mats, by far the best way to earn money, you can make around 100k an hour if you have a good farming route for nodes.
If you have access to the imperial city and if youre confident to kill world bosses solo, you could try and farm tel-var, convert tel-var to alchemy materials and sell them off, also pretty decent gold / hour ratio.
