I noticed one thing. I am new/suck at pvp and i noticed that ive been having a lot more fun at low lvl BGs than the normal ones. If i take time to craft a few sets and work on one of my lvl 30 chars, i stand a chance and can actually get a fair share of kills. Normal BGs though, i get totallu obliterated. Is this because most people in normal BGs have good gear and have played for a while, while below 50 is dominated by "noobs" like myself?

So basically i should just get to 50 and start doing normal ones, to actually get better and not being carried by my gear and "twinked" out character?

No. Your MMR increases as you play and score wins/AP. Just have fun...

It is a rating the game assigns to your character. The more successful you are, the higher the MMR gets. The matchmaking then tries to put players with similar MMRs together in a match. So the more you win, the tougher the opponents you get.

For a new player like yourself, BGs under lvl 50 is a good deal to learn the base but don't do the mistake to stay too long in this kind of BGs(reroll to infinity) because what you can learn is limited by the level of the other players.

If you want to be a good PvPers you don't have the choice to learn by the hard way (fighting skilled players) and die a lot of time but you will learn better and faster

there's a system which keeps track of your points earned in battlegrounds (per character not account)...

so the more you play and earn points you'll be matched up against similiar opponents, and grouped with allies whom have less points than you...

I've been using battlegrounds to level some toons...they're all around level 40 something, when I go into battlegrounds now I normally have players just starting out in battlegrounds in my group...every once in a while I'll get another player that's familiar with the different game matches...

if I want to place 1st or 2nd to earn the random daily battleground xp bonus I have to make sure to really hustle in the match...sadly I don't get carried very much anymore...

Yeah i do the same thing, used BGs to level up. What happened though is i started to enjoy them and not using them only for transmute crystals and xp. Now i wish i could stay at below 50 BGs as they are a LOT of fun, especially if i take time to gear up my char. But i guess i will never get better if i play easymode. Problem is i get totally overrun and devastated in normal BGs and its hard to keep the motivation up - but i will stick to it and eventually get good!

Trying running in a group, or at least with a mate or two in main BG. Being coordinated or at least on comms helps no end.

If you group with regular BG solo players follow their lead too as good players can feel like a pre made too - as they know the map and objectives. Also - always play the objectives. Alot of players Ignore them and just go for kills, so you can outscore better players sometimes.

which battleground modes are giving you trouble?

took me forever to figure out how to successfully grab that chaos ball...knowing the different map layouts helps a bunch too...

Yeah, this is normal. The damage explodes after 50. There is really no solution for it either outside of creating your own pre-made group. So either become accustomed to being annihilated in a matter of seconds (or less) every time you are ganged up on or play a Night Blade and cloak/retreat every time the odds shift against you. That's really the only advice I have for you.

Damage > everything else on this game. There is no singular defensive or healing strategy you are going to be able to implement to save you outside of the Night Blade option I mentioned.

Ive noticed the same thing as the OP. Lower level BGs are more fun, like way more fun. I think the reasons are people are learning and their gear isn’t maxed out, plus the sub level 50 buff makes it so there’s less burst.

At 50 your stats are lower and plus everyone’s using level appropriate gear so burst is way up.

There’s learning your class too. The cynical side of me suspects burst macros are rampant as well, but maybe it’s because my main is mag. Some people at 50 are just so good at the charge > HA > LA > DB > bash combo (or however it goes) and I don’t think I could ever pull it off.

That’s why I said they should increase the pvp buff to 10k, make it more like sub 50 BGs where burst isn’t such an issue.

    This.

It is not that you are any better. It is just you get more favorable matches with those you are matched with.

It’s more then MMR I think, I play in higher MMR on my main, burst is just higher at 50.
