Can We Get Minor Incremental Bi-Monthly (Every 2 Weeks) Balance Updates Now?

We would never get a grasp of what was going on if our builds changed every two weeks. It is bad enough that Zos typically does these heavy handed changes every three months for the past few years now but making it more often would be crazy.

It would be minor changes. Like many other games. Major still every 3 months.

Even minor changes still require evaluation and testing for end-game players and score runners. You wouldn't believe how many hours I spent on PTS just testing vMA dw changes ... And it was just 1 thing out of many others.

Right. But those who are serious about endgame on any level usually reroll their build to the next meta with ease due to the large amount of gold required.

And who do you thing brings this "meta"? It's not something that pops out of the blue. Many players dedicate a lot of time to come up with ideas and test new approaches etc. And it's not about gold, it's about time invested. I remember when "meta" was discovered like 2 weeks before the new update.

Alcast has a website with builds, I'm not sure if he has anything where he shares meta for trials. Like now for vSS, what is it? NB tank and 8 stamNecro? Or is it 7 stamNecro and 1 stamSorc with 3 bow/bow builds for the miniboss on the last boss? Or the time when healers meta was templar + sorc? I don't know, I don't see this kind of info on his website. Of course he has tremendous useful information on his website, but it's not like you could just wait for him to share something.

Don't forget most groups can't simply follow meta, because people are not willing to level up stamNecro now, magBlade in 3 months, another class 3 months after and so on (and don't forget some trials (vAS+2) has completely different meta than other trials). But they still want to compete and clear hardmodes. So they need to do their own research how the change would affect their group.

Yes, little changes require little tests, but if you had to test something new every 2 weeks, it would get tiring very soon.
    Yes.

3 months is fine, hotfixes for broken things.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

I mean with all this standardization... It is insane that we couldn't start weekly or bimonthly combat balance updates instead of a bomb every 3 months.

Agree or Disagree that this is probably needed for proper balancing?
Well as its looks like its another major train wreck as usual I would vote for one every decade or less.

Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I don't accept the premise that 'balancing' is necessary. Or productive. And attempts to do so are clearly not successful.

I've been playing for three years and the game was not balanced when I started playing. It was fun though.

Three years and many 'balance updates' later, is the game balanced? Of course not. Yet the turmoil of heavy handed nerfs and changes that make no sense and/or pit PvP vs PvE has certainly made me dread every single 'balance update' because each and every one of them has absolutely made my game less enjoyable.

Just stop with the futile attempts that stir the pot and cause trauma but improve nothing.

    /end rant.

Right but after they standardize everything. Small incremental patches should be the norm tbh.

I actually want the opposite. I want them to set the balance that they want and then hands off until something comes along to nudge it out of balance (new class, new skills, etc)

Given the current audit seems to be focused on making things more balanced in general... that's probably their goal as well.

Impractical since consoles charge a lot just to roll out updates. If eso was only on pc im sure it would be a thing.

Pardon, but it is also impractical to anyone who doesn't have infinite data usage for their internet or slower internet in general. Which is a lot of people. Every update there are players in my guilds who can't play for several days because they can't download the update.

If the internet finally becomes the public utility it should have been set up as decades ago, maybe, MAYBE this will be reasonable.

They would be much, much smaller and less impactful updates.

Can we just have patches that are well thought out? None of this ‘we’re going to roll out these changes then change the content to fit later.’

lol. On live our characters are so much stronger than they were a few years ago. Some have blamed CP but we have seen with the CP freeze it is just poor management of the game by Zos. It does nothing but trivialize the game and existing content.

Of course Zos said last year they were working on codifying their vision for combat in the game which is what we are seeing implanted this year. Something that should have been done over 5 years ago.

If they did it right then we will not have these heavy handed changes next year and into the future. If not then we know the influence of MattF's vision for this game will continue to impede the development team as it has since before the game launched.

    Time will tell.

Balance changes every 2 weeks is a hell of a lot work, I dont think its sustainable for ZOS to do something like that, even if it would be nice its almost impossible to do that.

Id honestly like to see it them make balance updates less frequently. Im sick of the nerfs and having to massively alter my builds every patch. I feel like I dont even get time to actually play the game because im always farming something to get my build to a usable state.

That being said, I dont now if thats a good answer either. I think game balance is at an all time low right now or at least in the several years ive been playing. Maybe more frequent and smaller changes would be a good solution. I know i would much rather zos make smaller more consistent changes instead of balance passes on things.

Lots of powerful sets to sell content. CP obviously but that effect is old.
Better players, this and an evolving meta and better guides is probably the major effect.

Didn’t they say at Quakecon that they were reworking the whole patching process—removing redundancies and lowering overall patch size? That’s not quite what you’re after, but it’s a step in the right direction if they ever decide to do faster incrementals.

They don't need to wait for a big patch to do balance changes, especially on stuff that are urgent. Though instead of lowering overall patch size they should start worrying about the total game size cause its getting very big for console players.

RIP my hopes of getting a HD texture update patch I guess.
