Underleveling?

Just make sure you are not missing content from previous zones. Seriously, if you complete everything on each zone you should be overleveled

I'm currently doing some "grey" quests, just to see what will happen, I'm lvl 26 in Grahtwood (or whatever the name of the zone is) I'm about to finish it, so I can't say I'm underleveled. I do a lot of crafting, I'm doing a lot of dungeons - 2-3-4-5-6 times each, I just love doing dungeons. At first there were just 1-2 quests for my level when I've entered the zone, but one led to another and ...

You can see that I'm overleveled for my current content. If you are indeed doing all the quests, there's no reason for you to be underleveled at any point.

Well, I have all the achievements. I have not been completing every skull, but I have done all the quests and solo/public dungeons.

Then do every skull too and most likely you have skipped some more things. I have done 100% everything (main quests, side quests all done and have achieves for that, every public and group dungeon and have achieves for that, every skull and have achieves for that etc) in starter zone and first 3 main zones and I'm 3 levels overleveling everything. I even try to avoid every unnecessary fight so that i just don't get any extra exp for that. I think overleveling is a big problem and they should fine tune quest completion and exploration experience rewards a little bit lower. Also I love group dungeons and sometimes i go 2 or 3 more times to same dungeon just to help my friends or just to enjoy that dungeon once more.
If you are underleveled, you have skipped something. Go back and explore more previous zones and you will find things you have missed.

I have done all the possible markers in all the zones i've done, all quests, all public dungeons, and instances once. I was outleveled while in Grahtwood by at least 3 levels constantly and only at the end i managed to close the gap a bit. Now after Grahtwood i am 2 levels under which might not be so bad, but it is not good either, because the game is not as forgiving as other MMO's with high level mobs (at least for me i find it difficult to fight 2-3 mobs 2-3 levels above me).

People here say that crafting gives experience as well. I personally haven't noticed that and although i don't overdo it with the crafting i am up to speed in all the professions for my level. I will take a look tonight and if crafting does indeed give experience that might be a good way to close those gaps. If that doesn't help i dunno... I am not a grinder, i despise the boredom that is grinding without a reason and i feel that if the game doesn't let me catch up to my quests in another way i might just give up on it altogether. I might try Cyroddil although i don't PvP, but the way things are atm... it's just not enjoyable constantly dying from trolls 3 levels above you, because you don't have the dps to drop them down quickly enough.

On a side note i can see now the reason for the "kill 10 rats" quests that are the standard for most MMO's :) Not complaining that ESO doesn't have them, but i can see the reason they exist :)

doing the quest and public dungeons and stuff may not be enough. Do to megaserver a lot of quest areas have less enemies in them because you may be chasing other players in front of you. meaning you miss out on the all important mob exp.

What i do is in between quest and such or in areas with lots of mobs I will grind out a level just to give my self the extra boost. So far I am out leveling or equal level to all new quests.

I'm not sure about crafting but chests does give exp, so running dungeons, killing bosses, looting chests ... you'll get plenty of exp :)

    This is a great point.

I've found that chests are a great source of easy experience when I'm trying to boost some of my lower ranked abilities or weapon types.

The only way you end up "under leveled" in this game is if you skip content and/or do not fight mobs along the way. I'm a "completionist" and try and experience all content, not just once, but on all 8 character slots.

I can tell you I am constantly 4-5 levels (or more) above the content. I actually have to skip fighting more than I want to in order to have any quests at all that are still green or yellow to me.

I also have all the crafting professions covered and up pretty high. I have NOT NOTICED ANY LEVEL XP from CRAFTING. So not sure what others are experiencing that are posting here, but near as I can tell crafting XP only goes to crafting levels, not the player level. Perhaps someone can prove me wrong on that.

The game is definitely not built to rush, it's designed to be enjoyed, taking the time to soak in the scenery in each area as you journey through the levels. If you rush it, then it's your own fault you're under leveled at 50.

Yes, chests give actually way too much exp and I have opened already 100+ chests (got achievement a few days back about that).
Also, I noitced at startup level I had a few armor pieces with Exploration bonus experience and that gave me quite a lot experience when I discovered new locations. Now I try to avoid such gear because I hate being overleveled. I regret I didn 't notice that when I started my character.
