(5 items) When you take damage you place a extreme chill on your opponent, which could freeze or stun your opponent or opponents for up to 4 seconds causing them to take 15,000 cold damage every 6 seconds, and Grant's you major or minor protection for 10 seconds.
So an extra long stun, high damage and both major and minor protection for 10 seconds without cooldown? And all of that on a guaranteed very simple proc condition. Yeah, sets like this should never be released.
What im saying is they can either put minor or major protection not both.
That is still a very overloaded set which is completely pointless for a tank outside of PvP where tanks do not need any buffs.

Be mindful I did say they can create a offensive ice set not necessarily more ice Tank sets. I believe this would be a good start, this thread wasn't just to cater to pve it was to create a means for offensive Ice sets since zos wants to combine ice/tanking. Which should be seperated ice should be on par with its other element counter parts and not be utilized solely for tanking. Please think outside the box. We do not need to be showered with more ice tank sets but more ice sets that actually deal DPS. And I'm sorry but I have ran many trials with offset trial gear and literally have done better then those who wore trial gear. So no it isn't a poor set. it's how you use it and your play style and also your rotation.

Last thing the game needs is more offensive tank sets. In case you didn't notice, they have heavily nerfed a number of them in 5.1.X.
Again, your idea is a poor PvE set and an unbalanced PvP set.

And again it is NOT. Once again I stated it does NOT need to be a tank set, the OP states "Ice Sets" your mind is clearly stuck on tanking. What others are saying is to sway away from the typical Ice/Tank setup. And clearly the set I listed would NOT be completely over powered because we have similar sets like that out now which do absolutely little to no damage and aren't very good.

Both of those are just sets that ZOS has ignored from the days when frost staves were a DPS weapon. They have shown no indication that the want to make frost anything but tanking. Everything frost added after that change, including Wardens frost tree have all been about tanking. Personally I disagree with ZOS position, but they have been pretty clear that frost = tank.

We can argue about it all we want. The opinion that matters here is ZOS's. And I'm extrapolating here but their current direction (new ice sets being tank focused, Warden's ice skil line being a tanking one) seems to be that tanking and ice go together. You may not like it but this is the way it is.

Wardens frost tree? Lol permafrost definitely isn't tanking if so the ultimate would be changed to you having ice armor granting some type of protection.

And clearly the set I listed would NOT be completely over powered because we have similar sets like that out now which do absolutely little to no damage and aren't very good.
Ice is a tank element. Until ZOS does a 180 and rebalances it back to damage ice sets will be tank sets.
False! Winterborn is not a tank set and deals ice damage, ysagmor also buffs ice damage. So please once again think outside the box.
Wardens frost tree? Lol permafrost definitely isn't tanking if so the ultimate would be changed to you having ice armor granting some type of protection.
Permafrost grants major protection what are you even on about?

Be mindful I did say they can create a offensive tank set. I believe this would be a good start, this thread wasn't just to cater to pve it was to create a means for offensive tank sets since zos wants to combine ice/tanking. Please think outside the box. We do not need to be showered with more ice tank sets but more ice sets that actually deal DPS. And I'm sorry but I have ran many trials with offset trial gear and literally have done better then those who wore trail gear. So no it isn't a poor set it's how you use it and your play style and also your rotation.
Last thing the game needs is more offensive tank sets. In case you didn't notice, they have heavily nerfed a number of them in 5.1.X.
Again, your idea is a poor PvE set and an unbalanced PvP set.

It IS a tanking ultimate. It snares, gives major protection and stuns. All of those things are tanking thing. No DPS should run this skill. In fact no tanks really run this skill either. It is only really used in PvP, but tanking / DPS is not really a distinct thing in PvP.
Also Wardens follow ZOS new class idea where you have a DPS, healing and tanking skill line. Where is Permafrost located? The TANKING skill line.

I personally have used a DOT build in a trial it may not be the normal but it can be used. What I'm getting at is DPS for ice sets. Not just the constant ice/Tank. Zos can do Both as they have done recently by creating icy conjurer and the frozen watcher set.

A lot of things work in PvP because like I said you need a mix of damage, healing and tankiness to do anything. You can add damaging elements to frost sets, but I'm referring to the more commonly asked for Cryomancer PvE build. Since frost staves are a tanking weapon they won't really be viable for PvE. In PvP sure, but you can do a lot of different things in PvP.
Also, and this isn't really important to the current discussion, but how is a DOT build not normal? Every DPS build in this game is a DOT build. That is how you dps in this game. You cycle your dots and fill it in with usually three - four hits of your spammable. I mean the standard skills for Stam DPS are, Endless Hail (dot) poison injection (dot) rending slashes (dot) caltrops (dot) bleeds (dot) plus any class dots you throw in there along with one spammable.

Ice is a tank element. Until ZOS does a 180 and rebalances it back to damage ice sets will be tank sets.
False! Winterborn is not a tank set and deals ice damage, ysagmor also buffs ice damage. So please once again think outside the box.
Wardens frost tree? Lol permafrost definitely isn't tanking if so the ultimate would be changed to you having ice armor granting some type of protection.
Permafrost grants major protection what are you even on about?
Yet it STILL is not a tank ultimate it is a combination of DPS/tanking did you even read ANYTHING that was posted lol. Please think outside the box.
Wardens have been using permafrost as their primary dps ultimate. Do you pvp at all? I'm not trying to be rude at all either. And you're talking to someone who theory crafts his butt off so I'm not just someone making things up at all.
Yeah, it is used in PvP. That is what I said. When you talk about DPS and tanking you are talking about PvE. In PvP you need to be able to heal / damage / tank So of course it sees use in PvP. I use it myself in PvP. PvP is a different beast. Many players run high damage heavy armor builds in PvP, does that mean heavy armor is now for DPS? Do you expect to see heavy armor DD's in trials now?
In pvp you have the ability to create anything and hopefully it works, and honestly I have seen heavy armor dps in trials.
The type of dot builds I have used differ from the typical skills you listed.

Just because you slap major protection on a skill, set does not MEAN it's now considered a tanking set or skill lol.

That isn't what I said. You said that if it was a tanking ult it would be changed to offer some sort of protection. I was informing you that it already does (Major Protection)

Wolf_Watching wrote: »Can we also get some love for frost dps skills... frost “destruction” staff and the winters embrace line are a joke for people who want to actually do damage with this forsaken element
Zos is not likely to do much for the DPS part of the Frost staff as they chose to make it into an inferior tanking weapon so it is not ideal for anything.
Lol it is not inferior and is in fact supplementary with S&B and MANY tanks now use it. Stop trying to Rp and either use one of the two other elements you have or accept the slight decrease in dps like my werewolf has to.
