Corrosive armor nerfed without thought

Corrsive armor now only Grant's then penetration for itself, channel attacks, and direct damage abilities. Stamina DK only has 1 direct damage ability in its toolkit, and that is flames of oblivion which ticks every 5 seconds. The two main damage abilities, noxious breath and venomous claw will no longer benefit from a class ultimate. This needs to be reverted. Gusting a class ultimate to no longer benefit the class theme is preposterous.

It is, the ultimate is insanely strong on live on dot builds. Why anyone would argue with this is ....beyond me. I was already starting to cringe while thinking of all the bleed dks using this ulti since they made bleeds hit mitigation, but at the same time buffed their dmg. :p

Yeah, Corrosive was borderline OP already, and the bleed changes were going to make it really stupid. Seems like a smart change.

I have to agree, corrosive armor was my go-to DOT DK ult. I understood why the numbers might be altered somehow, but the ult felt like it is the one made for stam dk, and stam dk use dots. (it does poison damage and makes us green to match the poison damage dots!)

edit: could it be the opposite of onslaught where it only adds the penetration to dots? i don't know. I would have to think about it more.

Honestly, stamina DK is thematically a DOT class. Of course when played using dots, it synergize well with corrosive.

From other Corrosive thread - these are good changes, both to Onslaught and Corrosive.

Corrosive now gives DK a window to have high direct burst, something they otherwise are not naturally pushed towards.

What counters direct damage burst? Blocking, LoS, dodge.
    What counters the above? DOTs.

DK is one of the very best classes to deal with opponents that over blocking, and this Corrosive forces that. They are also very adept at draining opponent's stamina with things like Fossilise and extra self-sustain in long fights from Battle Roar, and again this change works alongside that. Corrosive working with buffed dots makes it a brainless fire and forget auto-burst with previously stacked dots, and is not in line with the class aims.

This change makes Corrosive a very threatening burst window but it doesn't give you automatic damage at the press of a button with previously stacked DOTs. If Corrosive gives immitigable dot damage it polarises the matchup so much, forcing the opponent to have a cleanse (which only 3.5 classes do).

Having read 5.10 and 5.11 I was salivating over the opportunity to run an Onslaught / Corrosive dot stam DK as one of my first PvP builds, in the full knowledge that it was going to be broken as hell with "buffed" bleeds and guild DOTs. Even though I won't get the opportunity to abuse it, I'm glad for the overall balance of the game that this change was made.

    It was OP.

DK needs 1-2 stamina utility abilities, Stonefist, Eruption, Talons, Wings, Breath and updated passives that contribute better to resource managment and class ability dmg amplifiers.

Corrusive Armor is a godmode one button ability.
    The nerf is logical.
Why they dont buff stamDK is not, given 7th fury SnB playstyle is finally going away.

More strenthg to the overall class. Less to it's meta.

It only is like 1k total from 3 DoTs per tick, right? Or can someone math out a significant change

corrosive was fine. bunch of people in this thread who say it was "insanely strong" haven't actually used it and have probably only dueled against it. is it good in a duel? sure, but a lot of things that are good in duels are mediocre everywhere else against competent players

it's no longer worth the 200 ult that it costs compared to onslaught because the damage reduction is mostly worthless when you're facing multiple opponents. i'll just slot onslaught instead because the end result will be exactly the same.

for everyone who thinks it's amazing on live, please build a dot-based dk and tell me how successful you are with stacking dots and finishing good opponents with corrosive up. it already takes 3-4 gcds to get a good dot stack, but getting 3-4 uninterrupted gcds isn't easy, and by the 4th gcd you have about 5 gcds left to finish a target assuming you can actually get another 5 uninterrupted gcds. the problem is, you won't ever get that many uninterrupted attacks because anyone good will cc you/kite you or you'll get kited. at most you'll get a few more gcds off after your dot stack and that'll be it. the fantasy of stacking dots and beating down an opponent with 6-7 uninterrupted attacks is just that--a fantasy. it isn't something you can actually do in any real pvp situation.

some of you need to actually, you know, pvp, instead of standing around in stormhaven typing /duel all day long.

Corrosive armor is mostly used in PvP environment, where DOT build is neither the best or the only viable playstyle for stamDK.
Further more, even if you play DOT build, you'd rarely use Corrosive armor anyway, since Dragon Leap is border line OP.
