Harness magica vs dampen

So regarding the sustain change to harness magica and the over all 9% shield size reduction to both morphs.
Does harness magica still return a decent amount of magica? Or is it so small it’s not worth running and the more reliable shield would be dampen?

pve annulment morphs-

pvp annulment morphs

first thing i notice is that the cost is more for both, 3902 for both were as hardened is 3672 and empowered is 3213. so hardened is 230 magic less and empowered is 689 magic less then the morphs of annulment. i am a high elf with 5/1/1 on. so that puts the 195 returned from harness to ~253 magic back per hit, so you would need to be hit by all three procs to get more magic back then the lesser cost of empowered ward.

second this is that the base amount of the ward for annulments ward is the same, 31% of your max magic. with hardened ward being 42% of your max magic, dampen(31%) with 5 pieces are armo would bring that up to 40%, 31%*30%= 9%, 9+31=40%, then you still pay more for the protection. but the amount is still capped by your health, 50%.

with 7 pieces of light on those numbers previously mentioned go from 253 magic back per hit to 275 per hit and a max return of 825 if you get hit 3 times while the ward is up for harness. dampen goes to 44% of your max magic as a ward, 13%+31%.

so in conclusion, annulment and its morphs are both inferior to conjured ward and its morphs, which are cheaper and stronger without condition and they protect your pets.

Sheesh they really did nerf this skill into uselessness. The mag return from harness is such a joke it’s not even noticeable

I stopped using a Magicka Shield on my Sorcs and Templars for almost all content when some genius at ZOS thought cast times were a good thing and when we railed against it they nerfed the shields into Oblivion.

And now ZOS has decided to nerf what is left even more. Amazing...simply amazing.

Yes let’s make all classes run te exact same skills and the exact same set ups. That’s what they clearly want this patch the way they’re universally homogenizing classes. Absolutely pathetic. Harness magica wasn’t even overperforming, but of course all the nerf sorc threads has caused zos to scramble the 7 total brain cells they have and nerf shields for ALL mag classes. Should’ve just made shields have a minor and major function. But no we must screw other mag classes trying to balance mag sorc.
My magden and magnecro are gonna love not having shields anymore since they’re going to be absolutely useless now

The Magicka sustain of harness was pretty op and in need of a nerf in my opinion. The Magicka return was so op that it forced you to run harness instead of dampen as a Magicka build because you would be at such a huge disadvantage if you fought a Magicka build that slotted harness and you didn’t. I’m confused about why they nerfed the size though. I’ve never heard anyone say the shield size of harness was too big.

The sustain is debatable. But they didn’t need to completely over nerf it into uselessness.
Like now it hardly even returns any mag at all. Not even worth slotting it anymore. And the 9% reduction just shows you how much zos knows about balance. Which is none.

Well class specific abilities should be stronger than their available-to-all counterparts. Unless we're talking about Nightblades. Then the opposite is true apparently.
