We are currently investigating issues some players are having logging into the European PC/Mac megaserver. We will update as new information becomes available.

Take the game down for 24-48 hours

I say this with all sincerity and as someone who LOVES the game. If it will help you resolve the bank issues, guild issues, chat issues, etc. just take the game down for 24-48 hours, fix it, and credit everyone 2days (or even 7, your call) and just fix it.

I want to play, but I certainly understand that stuff happens and when it does, you do what it takes to fix it. I'm sure there'd be some gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands, but I'm pretty sure that everyone would rather miss a day or two and have it fixed than to keep praying you don't get hit by one of the insidious little (or big) issues.

Of course if that won't be enough to fix it than I guess this post isn't of value, but if you can fix it in that time frame, just do it. It will pay off in the long run.

People will complain, but people will complain either way. 'Fix the bugs! Fix the bugs! OMG how dare you take the game down!' I should find it more comical than I do.
I think from what I've read, they're doing a patch soon. It may not fix everything, but it's another step. I just hope they don't end up with ulcers and nervous ticks from reading these forums in the meantime.

Like everyone else, I want to play the game, but not everything in life goes perfectly. I feel badly for the venomous reports they must be getting from some frustrated people.. I understand their frustration but I imagine when we look back this will just be a minor blip. regardless I'm all for fixing it right and being patient while that happens.

The problem is that the game is up right now, but since last night's long load times eventually lead to some players losing most of their skillpoints and they still don't have them back, I'm hesitant to even log in tonight.

My buddy is already telling me that the super-long load times are back again tonight, and where there's smoke...

Taking the servers offline for that long only works if they actually have a fix or if it would help them find one. As it is, I don't think that's the case.

It would also just *** a lot of people off and stir up a lot of internet rage about there being no access whatsoever as opposed to partial, buggy access.

There is no point in bringing the game down unless they have a fix. I would think if they had a fix they would have already brought the game down and forced a patch.
What is written above are my honest opinions. If you agree then; "Great!" If you disagree; "Great!" I really couldn't care less either way.

Take the game down if you are actually going to do something.

If the servers are over-taxed by the amount of players: Take down the servers and install additional hardware.

If there are software bugs such as infinite loops that are taxing the servers, fix them and patch the game.

All common sense, if you have no fix, shutting down the servers, is useless.

I would actually disagree with this. People's banks are getting wiped and reset to the default 60 slots. Last night, people's character inventories were getting wiped and some/all of their spent skill points were disappearing. So far, not one single person that has experienced any of this character/account loss has reported that any or all of their problems have been fixed, but rather we just keep getting "we're looking into it" platitudes.

Last night, before a pretty massive wave of bank resets and character destroying skill resets, a lot of players were reporting obscene load times. Guess what people are starting to report tonight? I'm afraid to even log into the game right now, even though I've been out all day and was really looking forward to playing tonight, because I'm downright paranoid that my character(s) could be ruined just by merely attempting to play.

They need to fix these problems. As long as there's a chance for a player's character to lose all of their skill points and/or inventory and/or bank, the server needs to be off and endless apologies need to be issued until the problem is fixed and the server is turned back on.

I agree that I am one of the frustrated players trying to enjoy the game...

But I have come to the conclusion to cancel my game subscription hoping by the time my 20 days left that it will be fixed and I can subscribe again.

Like other people are also saying I'm afraid to play, like if I loose a skill point I probably wont notice so I wont log a support ticket.

I am committed to this game already. It has everything I want out of an mmo and I know it will only get better. I am just sad to see a relatively painless launch(for msot mmos) turn into a crap shoot this past weekend. Hopefully, the next 48 hours bring us some good things.

Honestly , do people think the devs are actually mages or something?

Do you think they have a button ready to be pressed , that would solved all the errors and give a clean game 48 hrs later?

That is not how it works people , stop talking like taking the servers down would magically solve everything. It might help them solve a few bugs , but then they will need the playerbase to play test again , and maybe more will appear.

If the servers were offline - they would at least stop the spread of corruption through their database, while they try to fix the code. Maybe even drop it back into beta status and promise everyone that they'll get their 30 days of real game time again once it is re-released. I believe Final Fantasy XIV had to do something of the sort?

Actually I never said they were mages or that it could be fixed, I said that if they actually have a fix they should take it down now to minimize the damage. There's a difference. I also said if they didn't have a fix then my suggestion was pointless.

Yea the thing is, I don't believe it's the amount of players itself that is causing this problem. There's something buggy withe guilds cause when they turned off guild functionality last night, the long load times and chat lag all disappeared.

Then they restored guild functionality and not 5 minutes later the load times and lag returned.

People saying that the game needs to go back to beta and be relaunched like FFXIV is nonsense. The launch to FFXIV was way worse than ESO. For the most part the launch has been pretty smooth. I remember WoW was done for hrs even days at a time in the beginning. If they did take the servers down you would just complain that they took them down. ZOS is in a catch 22 they can't make anyone happy
