How can I view current effects on my character?

I’m new to the game and not sure what the right term is — buffs, boons or what do you can the effects from provisioned consumables? Do I lose them if I die? I assume I can only benefit from one such consumable at a time, right? Consuming another food/drink would override it but drinking a potion or using an XP boost scroll would not, correct?

If you go to your character sheet, you can view the current active buffs. Thats not super useful in combat, so in settings you can have little icons that show the timing of those buffs/debuffs over your health bar.

You can only have 1 food or 1 drink buff active at a time, but you don't lose them if you die. Potions and scrolls are separate and stack, but don't override. (XP pots and XP scrolls have odd stacking mechanics with each other and I can't remember whether they stack or not.)

When you have a max health, max stam or max magicka buff, your health bar etc. will look noticeably larger on the screen.

Sorry I wasn’t clear! I can see when my healthbar is full, but it would look the same full buffed or unbuffed, at least as far as I can tell. (Sometimes during a fight it will get larger with a glow around it and I’m not sure what that means.)

The info I wanted was on the character sheet, as you pointed out, I had just missed it before as I needed to scroll down. I figured it had to be something simple that I had overlooked.

    Thank you! :)

When it glows and gets larger, some skill or buff effect just increased your max health temporarily.

When you have a food buff, you'll see something similar. Your health bar will glow, get larger, and stay that way for the duration of the food buff.

An unbuffed bar is roughly 1- 1.5 inches long, while a buffed bar is roughly 2 inches. Or you can simply look on your Character Sheet, which will also show food/drink buffs.

What they said is correct. Further, you should be using a food that give some max health and looking at your health would also be an indicator that the food is active or has ended.

Between leveling and swapping out armors with different effects, I don’t really know what my numbers are at to notice whether they are buffed! If stays were in say green if buffed and red if poisoned, that would be helpful!
