This Faction Lock nonsense is straight-up broken

This is not a diatribe for or against the merits of Faction Lock - that's pretty well been covered.
It is, however, an expression of extreme frustration with how difficult and expensive it is to CHANGE factions at the start of a campaign.

I've been stuck in the wrong faction for two months. Yesterday evening I made sure that all characters had exited Cyrodil and went through each of them and set the Home campaign to the seven-day option.

This morning I log in with my preferred faction and still couldn't join the main campaign.

For whatever reason I had to log in to a lesser toon and pay 100k gold to abandon the campaign that I hadn't even joined yet.

How is this so hard? How is there not some sort of kill switch that pulls offline users out of the main campaign when it ends?

Again - not a rant against Faction Lock. Just give me the chance to be locked in the faction that I *really* want on day one of a new campaign.

The off switch is the Abandon Campaign. You can do it for free at the end of a campaign or pay to do it immediately.

Otherwise you'd have to reset your home campaign again every month/week unless you stayed logged into Cyrodiil, and the ability to stay logged into Cyrodiil at all is a fairly recent thing.

Is there a time window on that? I've never seen the ability to abandon the campaign at the end for free. I've seen the ability to abandon immediately, with AP expense, and the ability to change home campaign, either at end of campaign for free, or immediately with AP.

It may be the change home campaign I'm thinking of.

When I went to log into Cyrodiil today, I'd pulled all my characters out and I got the "Logging in this campaign with lock you to EP" message even though I was still homed to that campaign.

So that was a little simpler than I expected.

As for why offline users don't get pulled out, it used to be that everyone got kicked from Cyrodiil. Then ZOS changed it so players could log straight in if there wasnt a poplock. I guess they don't want to change it back.
