How to Get Rid of Jerkiness?

Sometimes I will zone into an area and it is very jerky, almost to the point of being unplayable. Is just waiting for everything to load the right answer? I have tried that a few times and it doesn't seem to work really well in a short time so I just want to validate that is the valid solution, not some other choice.

It's been like this for a while now. It used to be constrained to zoning in at wayshrines and go away, but I've noticed it happening at other odd times too. This is in overland, which has for the most part been a buttery smooth contrast to whatever nightmares I hear people talking about with trials and PvP.

There doesn't seem to be a fix other than to wait for the developers to create one. My suspicion is that as they've introduced more and more cosmetics into the store, the platform just cannot handle all that rendering. I like my styles - fashion is a pretty big focus in this game for me - but I'd rather they kick it down a notch if it helps reduce frame rate spikes.

It happens when I use wayshrine travel. Will the problem go away if I just stand still for a while? That is what I am trying to find out.

It is annoying, but I would rather do that then try to travel with things being jerky. That is really hard on the eyes and the control.

I just ignore them. They go away eventually... Ohhh, you didn't mean that kind of jerkiness.

I tend to get this zoning into areas with higher player density.

The only solution I've found is to wait.

I do keep wondering if its loading issues then maybe a SSD would help, but then again guessing at ESO code, maybe not.

You mean the frame rate drop after you travel? There's no fix for it on your end. Now it has gotten worse for me. It happens again after it goes away and sometimes for well over a minute

I am pretty sure I have an SSD in this PS4, so that would not be a solution. (I upgraded a long time ago and have forgotten.)

It first cropped up after a patch that completely broke Cyrodiil for a while. I’ve alerted ZOS to the problem several times, and it has not even been acknowledged.

I think it fixes itself within 10-20 seconds for me regardless. Usually I just get moving, but when playing bad cat, I have no doubt I kept my butt parked at the wayshrines until everything loaded in. Bad cat still has a six figure bounty and for some terrible reason the developers prioritize player character loading in overland over NPC loading. Should be the other way around. Bad cat cannot avoid guards that are invisible because they haven't loaded in yet!

Yeah, that happens.
I always wait a bit, and things load, and the world becomes less jerky.
My headcanon says teleportation leaves you a little disoriented... and my characters just need a bit to unscramble their senses.

(Still would be neat if they got rid of that effect I say)

Happens to me essentially every time I use a wayshrine, especially bad/longer-lasting in highly-populated areas.

I find just waiting for about 10-15 seconds after loading in helps it to get the instance fully loaded in and then I can be on my way without my framerates looking like a PowerPoint slideshow (which is that "jerkiness" you are seeing).

It seems to take LONGER to go away if you just instantly try to run off right after loading in.

Good to know. 10-15 seconds seems like a long time when you are heading someplace, but I will just live with that in the future. Better to travel without the jitter.

It was like that in Summerset and now Anequina for me, the newer dlc Zones are much more detailed AND populated so your system is straining more to load everything around you. My Xbox One X takes under 10 seconds for the stuttering to stop after using a wayshrine to the Stitches for example.

This may be down to that CPU bottlenecking I've seen people claim the game does.

(PC/EU) I do have a SSD and get only few seconds of jerkiness when using wayshrine or zoning. YMMV.

(My Zenimax Online directory with game and PTS content is 158 GB (170,241,093,632 bytes) which is pretty large chunk of C: capacity of 476GB...)
