Pirate skeleton nerf

Pirate Skeleton:
Reduced the duration of the proc from this set to 10 seconds from 12 seconds.
Increased the cooldown to 20 seconds from 15 seconds.
The Minor Defile is now Major Defile.

At first read, I thought they chose 3 alternative and the community get to "pick one of the nerfs". :-D
Is it never an idea to nerf it a bit and see how it perform and then nerf some more if it's not enough? This looks like way too much changes in one go.
I don't use pirate skeleton myself so I don't care too much, but in general this is a bit strange way of balance in my opinion.

Two of the changes are to increase the window that the person cannot be near invincible, to give attackers and opportunity to take down the pirate skeleton wearer. The third change is to reduce how tanky one can be while it is active.

I know why they nerfed it, just saying to nerf it that much in one go doesn't seem like a thought throw balance. When stuff is going from number 1 set to nobody want to use it anymore, it's not a good balance thats all I'm saying.

    So... no surprise there then?

I use pirate skeleton on my necro. The minus 2 seconds and plus 5 seconds are minor but the major defile will be annoying.

Why don't they get rid of ALL sets in the game altogether, and chose some completely different approach, and merge it with the old outdated "Champion Points" system, that they have neglected and left frozen for like a year now?

I'm sick and f*****g tired of ALL usable sets being completely destroyed, over and over again. There are like zero sets to use soon, for any kind of content and purpose. And they never do it like "just a little adjustment", no they hammer it so freaking hard it's almost a penalty to even consider using most of them. They become not just "not good", but they nerf them so bad you actually do better running naked instead of using some of the previously good sets.

It's so frustrating farming/buying, improving/trait changing set pieces, to have these set being completely and ridiculously destroyed a few months later. Some people actually enjoy PLAYING the game, no "grinding" to get sets etc. to be able of playing eventually...

Imo it is too many changes in one go. Just bringing the maximum potential uptime from 80% down to 50% would have been reasonable imo, but then to also on top of that give the set major defile, in a patch where major defile wont be present nearly as much, is just overkill.

Unfortunately if they dont pull back on some of the nerfs, it's just going to go into the dumpster.

Gotta get used to zos way of "balancing" stuff. They always nerf things to the ground only to later buff them to the sky again. Incompetence in its finest.

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
    And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
    Ends life, kills laughter.

Too much "balance" in my opinion. Back to the Engine Guardian magicka meta.

I agree, they probably should have put maim instead of defile to nerf your damage for a defensive effect proc.

Losing damage for defense would be a better transaction IMO, which would still leave it usable for even a PvE tank, but ZOS balance team instead chose to just increase the effect of defile, which in reality would mean nothing vs a build using the set with a large amount of damage (just block and roll, or block and ball of lightning and continue your damage with no drawbacks :D ).

Pirate skeleton was pretty OP, and needed a change, but seriously MAJOR DEFILE? this renders the set trash, might as well just delete it. Healing already is halved in PVP.... now if will be even worse.

Would have been plenty enough to just nerf uptime i think....

If you currently PVP on live there is a good chance you have major defile on you in every fight and you've overcome it thus far.

Yes, by purging it. The pirate skeleton version won’t be purgable as far as i’m aware.

    Ye sure?

The uptime goes from 80% max to 50% max.

I will decon all my skeleton gear if this nerf is coming unaltered. Who would be stupid enough to use it then?

if you know the true value of total mitigation, you'll find a way around this and something more broken than major protection lol.

It should give major protection permanently with the major buff that will reduce the wearers damage by 30% and permanent minor defile.

That will ensure it stays tank based, but ensures damage dealers won't want to use it. Maybe add in major defile to prevent heal tanks wearing it instead of minor defile.

The issue it has right now is a complete lack of direction for who is supposed to wear it. Last patch it was damage dealers mainly wore it, now its...no one. It won't help you no matter what build ur in. As a pvp tank I'd rather have bloodspawn. As a dps looking for defense I'd rather have...bloodspawn....really just about every build in cyrodiil can benefit immensely by just using bloodspawn...

That is one good thing though. If everyone's in the same set then they dont have to balance much!

Seriously though. There aren't many sets that are really good for PvP the way bloodspawn is

If I had the choice to run my tank with the new PS or without monster, I would go for no monster. Seriously.

Nobody mentally sane will wear the new PS. Put it next to tremorscale.

The real reason is to sell new DLCs with new sets, you can't have nice things in base game.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

With the nerf to PS, I've fallen in love with Engine Guardian again.

Not only does this little guy give me resources, but he takes so many hits for me (Meteors, Curses, etc.). A different kind of mitigation but effective.

I only wish the 1 piece was something other than health recovery.

The entire Scalecaller PTS seems to be dominated by PvP only voices.
Haven't seen any comments of Pirate Skeleton overperforming/underperforming in PvE.

I like your idea above. Tone it down in PvP without taking away the option in PvE.

    Thank you.

A lot of sources of major defile have been removed. It really isn't that common anymore.
