I know why they nerfed it, just saying to nerf it that much in one go doesn't seem like a thought throw balance. When stuff is going from number 1 set to nobody want to use it anymore, it's not a good balance thats all I'm saying.

I use pirate skeleton on my necro. The minus 2 seconds and plus 5 seconds are minor but the major defile will be annoying.
Why don't they get rid of ALL sets in the game altogether, and chose some completely different approach, and merge it with the old outdated "Champion Points" system, that they have neglected and left frozen for like a year now?
I'm sick and f*****g tired of ALL usable sets being completely destroyed, over and over again. There are like zero sets to use soon, for any kind of content and purpose. And they never do it like "just a little adjustment", no they hammer it so freaking hard it's almost a penalty to even consider using most of them. They become not just "not good", but they nerf them so bad you actually do better running naked instead of using some of the previously good sets.
It's so frustrating farming/buying, improving/trait changing set pieces, to have these set being completely and ridiculously destroyed a few months later. Some people actually enjoy PLAYING the game, no "grinding" to get sets etc. to be able of playing eventually...

I agree, they probably should have put maim instead of defile to nerf your damage for a defensive effect proc.
Losing damage for defense would be a better transaction IMO, which would still leave it usable for even a PvE tank, but ZOS balance team instead chose to just increase the effect of defile, which in reality would mean nothing vs a build using the set with a large amount of damage (just block and roll, or block and ball of lightning and continue your damage with no drawbacks).
