Is there anything interesting coming with fishing in Elsweyr?

Havent had much luck yet but wanted to know if there were new furnishings being released.

One would think that any premier fishing guild members would be checking out the fishing holes on PTS ... instead of soliciting second-hand information through the forums.

It was really nice with motif reward in Summerset, hope something new will be here too, maybe some furnishings or something like this but think they already put all sweets to dragon bosses :(

Summerset was great for fishing, but worms were hard to come by. Looks like all the fishing holes in Elsweyr are river holes, so stock up on bugs.

Murkmire gave us a rare fish furnishing which was cool, hopefully there’s something interesting in Elsweyr. I would’ve been fishing already but PTS didn’t copy any of my characters and I’m too lazy to farm bait first.

If you're on NA, this week you'll get a copy of your chars. That said, if I'm not mistaken there is a box with bait in it*. Or you could go to a vendor and by bait from them.

    * In case you decide to go fishing with a char created as a max level. You'll be able to use the items in your bank and craft bags with this new max level char.

Copy this week, so I got 200 casts in. Nothing but the wet gunny sacks with basic garbage, other bait, and zone achievement fish so far. I still have 1800 or so bugs ready but dunno if the will is there since we’re so close to release.

    Anyone find anything cool yet?

I caught a bunch of the generic fish furnishings so far but nothing else interesting.

Maybe the guy from the "premier fishing guild" has something constructive to add this time?

From what I saw in the update files, the only furnishings you can find in Elsweyr that aren't from Plans or the Achievement/Home Goods Furnishing Vendors are a collection of items that you have to steal from Dressers, Backpacks, Nightstands, etc.

    I've personally found the following:
    • Elsweyr Cloth, Rolled
    • Elsweyr Pillow, Night Blues Wide
    • Elsweyr Fragrance Bottle, Moonlit Tryst
    • Elsweyr Pillow, Gold-Ruby Roll
    • Elsweyr Fabric, Display
    • Elsweyr Comb, Grooming
    • Elsweyr Hand Mirror, Rectangular
    • Elsweyr Brush, Head
    • Elsweyr Fan, Handheld
    • Elsweyr Hand Mirror, Bronze Oval
    • Elsweyr Fragrance Bottle, Moons-Blessed
    • Elsweyr Rolling Pin, Well-Worn
    • Elsweyr Bowl, Moon-Sugar

And it looks like you can also find:
    • Elsweyr Brush, Body
    • Elsweyr Mirror, Carved Wall
    • Elsweyr Pillow, Gold-Ruby Throw

Sorry, but it doesn't look like Fishing nets you anything in the land of Cats.

Interesting, thanks for that. I guess it’s just “finish the achieve and done” with it there then. Sad :(

Well, it's not like every DLC has fishing furnishings right?

Summerset had the most by far, but after that, the only other DLC with a fishing furnishing was Murkmire, right?

I guess they try to vary it up as far as lootable furnishings go?

Orsinium had a Carpet you could pickpocket from NPCs
Morrowind had Plants you could get from Harvesting Nodes, Paintings from stealing from Safeboxes or looting Chests, Incense from Pickpocketing, and Undercroft items from Tombs
Clockwork City had Tools you could steal from Safeboxes, and Factotum parts from killing Factotums
Dragon Bones had Mushrooms from looting enemies
Summerset had Plants from Harvesting Nodes, Coral and Flora from Fishing, Clams and Pearls from Abyssal Geysers, Mirrors from Safeboxes, and Paintings from Chests
Wolfhunter had Skeletal Remains from looting enemies
Murkmire had a fish from fishing, Tapestries and Carpets from stealing, a Lure from killing enemies, and a Plant from harvesting Scuttleblooms
Wrathstone had Meridian/Ayleid items drop from enemies in Depths of Malatar, and Riekling items drop from enemies in Frostvault
Elsweyr has Cosmetics and Workshop items that can be stolen from Containers in Homes.

I think there’s a big difference between furnishings in general and unique furnishings that can only be obtained from certain sources. The scuttlebloom and blackmarsh fish are good examples because you can’t get those from another source. From what I’ve seen everything in Elsweyr can be bought/made, which makes them less interesting.

The items I listed from Elsweyr CANNOT be made or bought.

They are exclusively obtained from looting owned containers. They have no plans in the game files to be crafted, and no vendor sells them.

They're similar to the "Spool, Empty," "Quality Fabric, Folded," "Soft Leather, Stacked," "Soft Leather, Folded," and "The Shivering Cheese" furnishings from the Base Game.

What's the drop rate like? After reading this post, I went out and started stealing from all of the houses in Rimmen, and after looting for several hours, have yet to find a single one of these items! (Did get a purple Khajiit furnishing plan though!)

Follow up question! Did you manage to pull any of these furnishings from the Fighter's/Mage's Guild Hall? That building seems to have the highest concentration of owned containers to loot, however after 20+ runs, I have not pulled a single one of the listed furnishings? Are these items limited to dropping just in owned homes?

Well, since Elsweyr launched on PS4, I've farmed every day by stealing from the same location until I get enough Green or higher quality stolen items to sell until I hit my 140 item cap.

I would say that, roughly a 3 hour grind each day has netted me an average of 1 Elsweyr Stolen furnishing a day. I've only stolen from containers inside houses, and I've seen them come out of Closets, Wardrobes, Barrels, Crates, and Desks.

And just to test things, I spent the past two hours farming the Fighters/Mages Guild hall, and just found a "Elsweyr Mirror, Carved Wall" in the Wardrobe in the far north Bedroom on the second floor.

Okay. Now you're just completely gone above and beyond. I farmed another 1.5 - 2 hours in the Guild Hall trying to figure out if items dropped there too, since that seems to be the logical place to farm these goodies. Now that you've confirmed it, I don't feel so down about not getting anything. It's just a numbers game, and at least I'm farming in the right place!

@B0SSzombie - So I'm now sitting at just shy of 8 hours of looting owned containers in Rimmen. I've pulled Signed Contracts, Stacks of Paper, Empty Spools, and 1 Purple Furnishing plan, but alas not a single one of the new furnishings! The grind in ESO is absolutely mind-numbing!

You won't believe it, but I just started my grind for the evening, and on my first run, I found an "Elweyr Hand Mirror, Rectangular" in the SAME Wardrobe as before.

Just to add to your very helpful posts: I haven't stolen much in Elsweyr yet, but I've gotten a hand fan from a noble in Riverfront and a perfume bottle from a NPC (don't remember their "title") in Rimmen.

ETA: I can't say for sure how low the drop rate for those items is, since I haven't stolen enough to get an idea.

Thank you for the information! I tried picking pockets in Riverhold but for some reason, most of the NPCs kept spawning empty. I'll have to give picking pockets another chance!

There are only two NPCs I bother stealing from in Riverhold, both wander behind the building with the museum (and the two houses you can break into).
One is a male elf who walks back and forth between the first house in town (the one with the guy whose daughter went missing) and one of the houses that can be entered. The other one is a female noble who walks to the second house and then comes towards the area with the tents in the center of town.

Congrats on the perfume bottle. They're very pretty.

Completely off topic, but I wanted to thank you for your guides to getting the thrones (breton, orc and wood elf ones). I got the breton one on my second try and 3 plans for the orc ones (one was a repeat) quite fast too. The one I really, really want is, of course, the one that won't drop for me.

Have you gotten anything decent from those two NPCs?

I'm glad that you found those guides useful! I remember when it became known that the throne furnishing plans were in-game, and people were trying to sell the information as to where/how to get them. That doesn't sit well with me, which was why I wrote those guides. It's a game, and we should all enjoy it!
