ZOS, what would it take, or how much money can I throw at you to transfer my account from PS4 to PC? Currently on my PS4 account, I own 12 homes (5 are fully furnished with one having all the crafting stations), I have 15 toons (12 are fully leveled with gear and one is a master crafter), I subscribe to ESO+ I've purchased tons of digital content over the last 2 and half years of playing ESO aaaaand I already own a copy of the PC version as well. Come on ZOS, I know money talks...what do you say?

You would need to buy out every single PC account that ZoS determines might be impacted by your account transfer.

If I had such a PC account, my price would run to seven digits. Just because I can.

Of course there is, there are many MMOs that allow character transfers where this 'problem' is handled .. the fact it's cross-platform is irrelevant.

ZOS have decided they're not going to make the effort, that's their decision to make, but it is not 'impossible'.

And you have coded how many games in an MMO Mega Server platform?

I would charge the same. We don't owe gamers on console a thing. If they chose the inferior platform (And I'm sorry but is. Source: I'm a former Xbox player), that is their problem.

True. It is much easier to do this on a server that is not live. It simply comes down to Zos has decided to not build a tool to get the job done. That may have more to do with agreements they have with the consoles.

This is really a non-issue as it would be part of a tool for transferring if Zos decided to build it. Other games solve it by adding numbers to the end of character names and you would give priority to the characters already on the destination server.

But again, Zos has chosen to not build the tool to get the job done.

In WoW when you wanted to transfer to a different server, if your character name already existed there, you were informed that you would have to change the name and asked if you still wished to transfer.

It never bothered me - I can come up with names on the fly. I knew people who weren't interested in transfers if they couldn't keep their names, but I didn't really care.

This, or just force a name change if the name is taken. It's not a technical issue at all. Every game with server transfers has gotten around it (and there are a lot of games with server transfers). I'm guessing the engine/server architecture for this game is some kind of mess, which makes it expensive to develop a tool for server transfers.

How does a pc account get impacted by a transfer? Just reset all the transfered account their character names. (Zos can do this and does this often for "wrong character names").

2 and a half years ago when I purchased ESO on the PS4 platform, I had no idea what I was getting into, I was a very casual gamer, Destiny being my first MMO and I really enjoyed the interactions with other players, even joined a guild. D2 left me sour and I left the game. One rainy Saturday morning, I was browsing the PSN Store and came across ESO, so I downloaded it to see what it was about. At first I had a hard time with the game, had no idea what character to use or how fit it out, couldn't stay alive in a delve at all. I started to research the game online to see what I was doing wrong and found so many resources which really helped my character build. That's when I got sucked in, when I saw the many ways you can play this game, with the crafting, the hug variety of sets, I enjoy the Lore. I started playing daily to earn achievements, leveling up my crafting toon and recently, purchased the PC version (impulse purchase) and was amazed how it looked, plus I was curious about the addons I was hearing about. But by this time I was so invested in my PS4 account, I didn't want to start all over.

Currently, I have 15 toons, 9 are fully leveled with most of them having complete sets and one is a master crafter. I think I own around 12 houses with my main house having all the crafting stations, etc, etc, and 5 of the toons have fully leveled mounts (what a pain in the ***). I've got more crap sitting in my bank, storage chest (all 8), my homes and my mules than I know what to do with. The post was meant to be fun, just a jab at ZOS knowing I'll never be able to transfer the account to PC but it would be nice if I could, wink, wink.

Thanks for the interest everyone! For the Dominion!

Got 14 characters on Xbox EU : all max lvled, guild lines lvled, every stuff as gold items, housing, all skins, lvl 50 pvp rank, ESO+ member since 2015. I've spent over thousand euros in this game, played over thousands hours.

I also grinded 6 characters on PC EU, 900 champion points, guild lines, skillpoints, took ESO+, spent money to bough crowns.

Where do i play everyday ?
On Xbox, because even if PC performances are way better, my main account still remains Xbox one.

Do something to merge your player database. Do something to increase the population of your game, all plateformes included.

As it was said before, THERE IS a solution for character name's, please don't make the lazy stuff a problem.
Want to transfer your account ? Well, choose other names for your alts - available on the plateform you want to go - : it's simple as that (make character names as ID numbers & give name's token for the amount of toons you transfer).

There are plenty of solution to merge that "millions players database that play separately on 6 differents servers".

They would have to do away with the whole guild trader system if it was cross platform cause no way can one mega server handle what it has problems with right now as of per platform. Also the fact 3 different platforms bidding on one trader won't work lol

Reworking the guild trader system would be a better choice than using that as an excuse to let people play on 6 differents servers (but you are right, atm that could be problematic)

I thought the problem with cross play (besides console players crying that PCs had an advantage when everyone was on the same server) was that Sony and MS didn't want to co-mingle their database access?

    The origin platform is irrelevant.

The ONLY relevant factor is database management.

And we already know ZOS are wholly incompetent at that.

I've been through 3 Server merges in SWTOR, and 1 Merger and 1 Migration in LOTRO.

    This is possible.

The ONLY reason ZOS don't offer this service is because they don't want to.

And they don't want to because they have nothing but disdain for their customers.

The problem goes well beyond just character names. Every single item you own, every skill, house, achievement, your gold, CP, AP, everything has to be stored in the database under a unique identifier. And there is something about the way ZOS has created their databases that prevents them from just copying all that info from one database and adding them to the other one. Because same as character names, the original identifiers are already in use by someone else and reassigning all of them might not even be possible.

Can a system be re-developed to allow transfers? Of course. The question is how big of a task is that and knowing ZOS's track record what is the chance that it will not break everything else in the game or at the very least cause problems to other players because of your transfer?
