What are you paying to win the pack rat simulator? Having 20k rubedite ore doesnt make you win no matter how much you try...

Thank you for participating in this poll.

By answering the poll questions, You have given a clear understanding of what the group consensus is with empirical data.

AND i think it is far more useful than all the endless threads about it and all the back and forth in the comments.

The forums have spoken. And the matter decided.

    Uh, no?

ESO is IMO not pay2win in any form. You can get almost everything (skyshards, and now skill lines) by playing the game, including consumables which crafted ones are better than cash ones. Other than that, there are only cosmetic items (that changes nothing but appearance) and DLCs.

Want to see what pay2win really looks like? Try playing NA Lineage II, for example.

The bag is pay for convenience/advantage not p2w.
The gear and skills obtained behind paywall dlcs on the other hand could arguably be considered p2w imo

Buying an item that can 1 shot things is convenient, and since there is no defined "winning", it isn't p2w right?

Sounds like poll to win... The forums have spoken again, and again, and again... but the matter is not decided. No, this poll is a vestige of the p2w shriven and shall reform in the azure plasm of entitlement harbor to return again.

Where is the "who cares" option? There is no meta build that has to be adjusted based on crafting bags.
    rumple9 wrote: »
ESO is p2w because most of the best sets and monster helms are behind the dlc paywall.

If that is what we consider to be p2w, p2w isn't actually a problem. There is nothing unhealthy about requiring players to continue to buy DLC to be meta. There is no reason to expect buying the game for $10 should be enough for you to have a meta PvP build for the next 5 years.

So, you say it is pay to win? So what?

It's been an issue for since it started.

It's really difficult to manage the million and one mats without it.

Every time it comes up I ask a question. That question is: How many mats are there in game? No one ever has an answer.

My point is... instead of dealing with the craft bag only existing for eso+ sub, how about we eliminate the sheer amount of mats?

When you can explain how the craft bags ups your DPS or Crits or Attributes or Resistance or Recovery or Regen or Range or Speed or anything else character performance related, then we have something to discuss.

It's not pay to win because you don't win anything by having it.

I've not had ESO+ for the majority of the time I've been playing because I don't think it's worth it. But a few months ago I bought 3 months because it was the cheapest way to get crowns at the time. About the only thing which changed when I bought it was my crafter stopped going to his house as often because I didn't need to put materials in the storage chests. And about the only thing which has changed since it ran out is he started going back more often to drop them off.

It's a convenience, something which is nice to have but only offers minor benefits at most.

Real life is PTW...so why should it be any different in a video game...one example... if you have the means...and get into legal trouble...you can hire a high powered attorney...and actually "win" something (your freedom)...whereas if you are poor you will be stuck with a public defender....and most likely "lose"...

But...that being said ESO+ is not PTW...because you don't "win" anything...come to think of it...even if it gave the subscriber 1000 Weapon and Spell Damage...what would you be "winning"? A duel... I guess...

If you were able to buy a boost that increases drop rates on resources or reduces the cost of improving gear would that not be considered P2W? What about a boost that causes only Epic+ items to drop, it doesn't directly improve character performance and those drops can be gained anyways, convenience right?

The fallacy people have when it comes to defining P2W, is the assumption that it only applies to direct or more egregious variations.

This entire game is P2W because I had to buy it to play it.

Seriously though, people need to look up the definition of "P2W". Unless I can physically kill in pvp or pve by smashing stuff to death with my craft bag, it isn't P2W.

Here is an example of P2W: Buying powerful weapons and armor THAT ONLY EXIST in the crown store. THAT kind of stuff is P2W.

    Fixed that for you.

P2W is a purchased feature that directly increases your combat effectiveness and either can only be purchased or is otherwise unreasonable to obtain in game.

It exists in other games: a crystal/currency that directly increases dps, you can either buy it or farm, but unless you farm literally 24/7 you will never be able to keep up with people who buy large quantities of it. That's def P2W.

I think if you can demonstrate that it is completely unreasonable to obtain the same items without paying, then it crosses the boundary of P2W.

ESO doesn't have anything like that really. You'll be able to buy maxed out skill line now, but it's still reasonable to obtain them in game the old fashioned way.

On the opposite end is the Elder Scrolls legends mobile game. Technically you can grind out thousands of hours to get epic and legendary cards to stay competitive, but you'll be playing against people who spend loads of money on legendary card packs and are almost always better equipped than you. Definitely unreasonable and definitely P2W.

The skill lines they are making purchasable are pay to win because they will allow you to go into low level PvP and have an advantage over people who haven’t paid for the skill lines. The craft bag is just a convenient way to store materials so I don’t see it as Pay to win. Pay for convenience maybe.
