Destructive Clench confusion

Destructive Clench will retain unique effects depending on which staff you use. For Shock Clench, it turns the attack in to an AoE and deals the "AoE damage standard". This standard is that AoE abilities deal 33% less damage than single target abilities, correct?

So Shock Clench will deal 33% less damage than Flame or Frost Clench? That's going to be one hell of a tool tip to explain all that. If the tool tip displays one damage value it would be incorrect.

the initial damage of clench is not the same as single target damage, that damage on fire and ice clench is the same as reaches initial hit, or about half the damage of an actual single target direct damage skill. that is fine though, you are not going to be using fire/ice clench for the damage, it is a utility skill.

now lighting clench IS a damage skill, and aoe, as you pointed out, 33% less damage then a direct damage single target skill.
