Convince me why my Stam DK is worth playing in PvE Post Patch

So, I'm now CP 817. I haven't played in over two weeks. Am seeing the PTS notes and the fact that Endless Hail and Caltrops got ganked (no doubt for PvP), because "balance". As a half-time PvP'er I do get it, and it's fine, but my PvE build suffers greatly/immensely. And that is where I run with friends most of the time. My DPS stands to take a considerable hit as most stam builds will and I don't really have any skills to replace these with as class ability DoT's for Stam DK's are basically non-existent (at least ones that can replace the damage these did in rotation).

Why can't Zeni balance PvE and PvP separately? Why can't we get skills to replace the staples they pushed via PvP play (that ended up crossing over into PvE as mandatory skills)? Why do we constantly have to feel weaker in PvE after these monster patches? Why can't Zeni communicate their intent outside of being able to create better class identities in the future? The end game player base doesn't care about 3 - 6 months from now. They care about today, tomorrow, and next week.

Essentially, you're telling players, find a new game until we figure this out. And I got news for you, a lot of us won't be back.

Because you haven't even TRIED to play your DK post patch.

Before you jump on the sky is falling bandwagon, wouldn't you at least TRY to play the character and see if you can accept the changes?

Personally I like to make decisions on my own from my own personal experiences, not from the forum warriors that may or may not have the same agenda that I have. But then again, I have a strong mind and an even stronger will.

    True.

Either way hail will still be useful in pve cause it procs enchantments, and vMA bow still makes it insanely strong. Caltrops u can keep for trash fights, and replace it with soul trap (or either morph), after patch it will be a strong enough dot, that costs magicka so doesn't hit u hard on resources, deals physical damage, and scales of your max stam and weapon damage if you have more weapon damage than spell power.

Also, no reason to ask now, they can still change everything.

I see Caltrops all over in PvP. Especially at choke points, taking keeps and such.

Maybe not Hail. But, either way.

And for the VMA Warriors, not everyone beats Vet Maelstrom or wants to spend the time in the there, praying to RNGJesus that they get the bow.

Fine, maybe try Soul Trap, but I don't get why they can't just give all classes some kind of ground DoT. I get identity, but they all at least should have some kind of option.

Well then now, good news, caltrops will be stronger in pvp because in this stam meta major fracture op.

And thanks for calling me vMA warrior you make me blush
if you didn't notice i gave two reasons to still use hail. If one is not relevant to you, you can either ignore it, or bite the bullet and go vMA.

And now to summarize all what you have done wrong in this post.
    1. Hail and caltrops are classless, therefore has nothing to do with specifically dk.
    2. The change doesn't look like a pvp change. ZoS are trying to change the AoE DoTs for every pve situation meta. Which is debatable if a good or a bad thing, not what the post is about.
    3. Dk has tons of dots. And it looks like single target DoTs are going to be uber buffed, excluding dk of course cause he will over preform if they do. But i have a feeling claws will be buffed a bit either way.

Anyway, dont worry man, a LOT of people are frustrated with AoE DoTs being tuned down. My personal opinion was, and still is, that they are killing class diversity, lowering the floor, and making the road to the ceiling harder. U know, while they need to raise the floor and lower the ceiling so more people can enjoy the game.

If you worry about you pve damage, i would recommend getting combat metrics (add on) and killing dummies for a few hours. U know, analyzing what u did wrong etc. i plan on adapting. What about you?

I mean props for VMA, wasn't a jab by any means. Wish I had the kind of talent. Just chops will never be that good, especially as I'm away from the game for a while to see how all this *** unfolds.

In regards to the PvP comment. I felt the reason they likely nerfed Caltrops was because of the stacking in those PvP situations having experienced them as much as I did in previous months. Between that and oil some sieges are just damn near impenetrable even if it's a small group defending (unless you have a large enough group to hit two areas of the keep, or flank). I didn't think the reasoning for the nerf was use in PvE personally. But, maybe that's my lack of knowledge there.

I know DK's have plenty of DoT's single target as I use Claw and Noxious on my build forever. I just wish each class had their own ST DoT's, AoE/Ground DoT's, etc. I think they could go a long way if they'd be willing to find a way to give each class these skills so we had build diversity options within each specific class.

Adapt, no. I'm honestly tired of adapting every time they makes these huge sweeping changes. I'm tired of generic builds getting hit as hard as they do when we use skills they have pushed our way for years. It just doesn't make sense. Very much enjoying WoW right now, even though I'll always wish there were a reason to come back. But, for me it was the busted Necro bugs they ignored for way too long so I couldn't enjoy my new class, and then it's *** like this that does it for me.

Honest to God, I have the simplest *** build known to the stam game. I roll crafted gear, and I use obvious skill setups. When these kind of builds are punished, it ruins it for casual (but hardcore) players. Link to build here:

Honestly, I'm done with stamDK. Been maiming it for five years. But do to the overwhelming whining by forum sorcs, it has been gutted too many times. Literally anything a stamDK can do, a stamden or Templar can do better. So I'm going to be maining my Stamplar and enjoying the Eclipse meta.

Cause' leaving my DPS role to do a role I don't desire is a great option.

I tanked through CP 240+, I wasn't enjoying it. Solo content sucked with tanking. Hence my move to DPS. There should be solutions for those in every role, every class when patches come out. Not for us to sit here scratching our heads wondering why we bother. There aren't enough viable end game skills. Period.

The OP asked us to convince him to play his Stam DK post patch. My response: Don't believe the *** that look at the notes and say that the sky is falling and put your big boy pants on and try it for yourself. Make your own determination. I don't see how that makes me an Apologist.

I stand by my response. Play the damn game and make up your own mind if you like it and stop being a little ***.

Stamdk was worth playing in pve last patch?

No one uses volley in pvp and caltrops only good for its snare. Most of the damage nerfs made for pve because ground based dots were overpowered. Power creep was getting out of hand and all stam pve builds were basically same. Now whether the nerfs are good or bad, that's up to debate.

Swap caltrops with soul trap, the dps loss from endless hail will be mostly off-set by the increase of your single target dots.
