New Ultimate of Choice: Onslaught

Onslaught (morph): This morph no longer refunds Ultimate cost if you gain a killing blow with it. Instead, it converts the Physical and Spell Resistance into Physical and Spell Penetration, and increases the duration from 8 seconds to a maximum of 16 seconds. It also no longer ranks up in 1.1% damage per rank.

So let me get this straight. I am a nightblade. I hit a heavy armor DK with this from cloak and I've just made him naked for 16 seconds? Seems hard to believe. I can't really see any class, stamina or magicka, that wouldn't run this ultimate. Magplar. Melee magblade. When a DK runs Corrosive, you tend to wait that out, but DKs tend to be slow. Give this to other classes and ... I don't know ... why wouldn't every class run this? 16 seconds is a long time and it's cheaper than Corrosive.

If I read this correctly in the notes it only gives you the penetration if you get the killing blow with Onslaught. Looks highly situational to me but needs to be tested for sure.

If you get the pen on hit like how onslaught works now this will be the best ult in the game. If it is on kill then it is situational at best.

Look at bright side on PVE, you do not have to care about Penetration a lot.

This buff is really appreciated and believe me its not better then DBS in PVP but have be somehow close.

It depends on how you build. Right now berserker strike / onslaught have more burst than dawnbreaker and I'm hitting people for 6-13k. Combine this with a burst combo and it will outperform DB in single target.

It depends on how you build. Right now berserker strike / onslaught have more burst than dawnbreaker and I'm hitting people for 6-13k. Combine this with a burst combo and it will outperform DB in single target.

Do not forget DBS edge as DOT, granting stun, cheap ultimate and against Vamps/WW.

Also more players may go as Vamp next patch and Slotting DBS gives Weapon Damage increase by 3.

Now % multipliers are getting more effected and becoming rare after ZOS changing multipliers to flat values

Nerf to this Ultimate may ruin good opportunity

Gankers have been nerf all along and even hardly seeing them anymore.

and considering ultimate cost which is 150, its a choice between Incap/Soul Harvest

Sould Harvest keeping Major Defile still outweigh 2H Ultimate

I've run it on a mag sorc for a while now. The extra mitigation you receive pairs grear with shields.

After watching some YouTube commentaries, this is how I read this now as well. Otherwise it would be ridiculous.

The skill always ignored all defenses and removing the ultimate return on kill is a whopping nerf that completely guts the individuality of the skill. NBs in light or medium will not stick around to "duke it out" after using it in melee range, especially without the boosted resists, so it will be s-canned in favor of other ranged ults for them. So realistically, are any bow users with 2h back bar going to be using this? No. Anyone going to take it over DB? No. Any magicka going to take it over Meteor or Destro? No.

Tell us all again how and more importantly why "every class" is going to be running a single target melee ult just because of 16 seconds of high penetration when the resist gain has been stripped off of it? Sure some gank builds will figure a way, but I guarantee that way will not be as efficient as options. The old version was more powerful by a mile than this new nerf.

what if sit near a mob, wait till you see pvp enemy you want to kill, then stealth attack BLAST the mob, for insta death, then immediate attack your pvp target for 16 seconds of good power?
would that work?

No. Mobs don't have any resistances. Even the bosses in IC only have about 10K.

unbelievable. corrosive is already really, really good, but everyone running around with 100% pen for 16 seconds is going to be ridiculous. is there some kind of shortage of damage in pvp? people are just going to build for even more mitigation now so they don't get instagibbed when their 30k resists gets reduced to 0.

Ive tested this on the pts. It ridiculously unbalanced. If you land the ult then you get the penetration and dont forget that its aoe aswell
