Would you use an official ESO App?

What would you guys think about an official ESO app for our phones? WoW had a pretty decent one if I recall correctly.

The features could include Character Display / Set Info and Character Emotes (provided you have them in-game), Guild Trader Notifications, In-Game Map / Zone Guide when linked to an In-Game Character, Crown Store Showcase, Zenimax Merch Store, etc.

I think it would be awesome to show my friends my characters and item sets, and Zenimax could gain some more popularity this way as well.

I would imagine that a seperate Zenimax division could pull it off, like the people who run the website for instance. I agree with performance getting fixed first though if they cant muster the strength to do both.

The statement leading to the question is very unspecific. Real time map? That seems a little absurd without context.. It sounds like OP wants to be able to see where everyone is on across all zones or wants to play the game on their phone.

Also, trading would likely be to complicated with the number of characters we have, inability to even access all inventory and the guild trading system. We are not setup like Neverwinter, which is a good thing in many ways.

So in the end it would be such a poor idea for Zos to work on building such a thing. In case the idea is for someone else to be able to make such a thing, it is also a bad idea for Zos to give server access to phone apps.,

Oh, and performance, Zos is reducing interactions with addons to improve performance. This idea runs counter to that.

Okay maybe I'll rephrase the map idea. I meant being able to use the App as a Map and Zone Guide when you're in-game if you so choose. It could be pretty simple if executed correctly.

The Guild Trader portion could maybe just show us what items have sold recently from each character depending what one we select.

These are ideas I just came up with but even a Character Screen viewer would be pretty neat I think if at all possible.

Allow me to train my mounts and pick up my hireling mail from it. And possibly be able to check and set research items for crafting.

Then I'd probably even pay money for it.

That's actually a great idea as well and Zenimax would even get a profit from it so they'd be down with that I think. Maybe like an in-app purchase!

Heck, yes! I'd pay $10-20 outright for an app that did this.

I would. If I could take care of meta stuff while I can't sit at my PC playing the game, that leaves time for more actual playing of the game once I get in front of said PC.

I also play with a phone and/or laptop next to me anyway for UESP, Discord, etc. So if I could pull up the Zone Guide, Journal, etc. on that, it might help.

I’m thinking something similar to the Warframe app. Like you can see what you can research, check how the campaign you’re in is doing (like a basic map updated every hour) along with queue times, ability to read your lore books, and just check what your toons have on them. And of course news. It’d honestly be helpful.

This is a great idea! We could do limited things on the ESO app anywhere. For instance, you could follow your research countdowns, get information on your characters, and following the updates on the guild traders. So much potential.

It had , before it scrapped the Auction House feature. If this app allows trading, I'm all for it, otherwise I won't bother installing it.

Meh, no thanks. Most of those features don't seem very useful and/or worth the effort of having to keep unsleeping your tablet every time you turn away from the PC screen to look at something. (the Fallout 4 companion app had the same issues. It was cute, but not actually very useful)

What OP wrote down there is nice all, but the downside is that with time people will demand more and more features, like the ones that many people wrote above: guild chat, checking the mail, training mount etc which will lead to not to login and actually play the game. Yeah, I know these are only suggestions and ideas, but hey, I wouldn't use the app anyway, couple of hours gametime on PC is enough for me.

With the features you describe I definitly wouldnt use it, seems pretty pointless to me.
If you wanna look up sets there are plenty of websites out there, some even with dedicated layouts for mobile phones.
It would need features like feeding your horses, access to guild traders of the guilds youre in, claim daily rewards and so on, to be worth installing.
