Main Story Quest is a buggy mess

As the title implies. I don't mind bugs that exist in the game that don't block progression. There are hundreds of quests and I only have two in my log that I cannot complete because of bugs. However, the Main Story in Coldharbour is a hot mess. For days there was a massive backlog trying to get through the statue room. Today I logged on and actually was able to get through it! However, now I am at the fight with Molag Bal, which I killed and....

Bugged. Again. Stopped progress. Submitted bug reports, feedback, etc. He is stuck at 0 HP. Tried everything. Please look at this. I have spent the weekend (and I am sure everyone else as well) fighting the bugs rather than the gameplay itself.

I had the same problem but think I know what made me bug it.
When molag bal is nearly down (maybe 2% health left) he will root you and jump up in the air again to land before you. You can actually break out of the root by pressing left+right mouse button (break cc) which prevents you from delivering the final blow, because that root actually is part of small battle event. When I broke out he was just kneeling in front of me and I could hit him and attack all I wanted but couldn't kill him. My next try I just let it root me and it worked fine.

Thanks gerwin. I'll try that trick. I just went through a second time again and had to force quit to get out of the 0hp Molag Bal situation.

yeah it required me a /stuck to get out of combat and then teleport to a guild member to get out of the area. wait 10 min for it to reset properly and then do the whole area again up to molag bal. atleast I could try out some idfferent options in the quest

Dude, I love you. that absolutely worked. This needs to be super stickied. When he got really low i just kept giving him love taps and not breaking roots and the combat animation finished. Brilliant.
