You can always ask if curious.
ESO is less about gear than rotation and understanding game mechanics anyways.
If you are in serious score pushing where this is actually relevant you know what your team mates are wearing anyways.
I would prefer bug fixes...
This is something casuals say because they dont wanna spend 8 rosins upgrading their staff. And if it doesn't matter, why you care if this is in the game or not then? So reading your comment make me understand so far that you dont want it because you dont think it's needed in the game right? Then explain all the other 99% of the game that are here but not needed at all pls.
Warframe has this option..... oh wait a much better game. My bad
Lolwat m8? Basic functionality? What the heck are you on about?I do i'm playing FF14 atm,
this game is grindy but ESO is grindy too.
pvp is bad is FF14 sure, but at least i can do pvp without lags, infinite loading screens crashes or broken LFG tool
I really enjoy ESO but those performance and the lack of basic functionalities (like inspect) is a really bad thing
VaranisArano wrote: »ESO doesnt have a inspect option for more or less the same reason we don't have a real time DPS tracker for every member of our groups.
People would abuse it to be toxic.
People. We're why we can't have nice things.
In the meantime, why not just ask if you want to know?

I always liked seeing that message in XI, I'd sometimes even give them a min to look then hit a gear swap to show them the rest, if they bit on it I'd even show them a 3rd look. Of course I had a pretty pimped out RDM back then.
I think being able to examine would be a good thing, I think it would be good for newer players or even older players who just copy paste meta builds to be able to see that there's skilled players out there who aren't running the same setups you find on build sites.
I get people not wanting someone to copy paste the build they worked hard to come up with on their own, I don't either, but gear is just a small part of your build here.
There's ways they could have the transparency of examine without showing all. Obviously it wouldn't show CP allocation or skill bars. They could also make it so it doesn't show traits or enchants or even color if they wanted, just the base gear. On top of that it could be opt-in, there could be 3 settings, one would show your actual gear, one would show outfit/costume, one would just be hidden, you set it to which one you want people to see when they examine you.

It really doesn't seem like a big issue. And "just ask them!" seems like a lot of bother for the person who's being asked - does someone who walks into town with a cool outfit & nifty effects really want to be bothered by multiple people whispering them to ask about what it is, and have to reply to all of them, even if it's just to say "go away"? Inspect really is low impact.
Your gear is not a god**** state secret, and your build is not the 11 secret herbs & spices. Someone seeing The Precious will not suddenly make your DPS plummet or cause impotence.
tl;dr - I've never understood why people get so worked up over 'Inspect'. /shrug
Every good mmo has this option, why not ESO?
Is this because ESO is too casual?
"Only the Aldmeri—the High Elves and their noble allies, the Wood Elves and Cat-Men—have the wisdom and restraint to peaceably rule the disparate peoples of Tamriel. [...] Men always follow the destructive path of their defender and apologist, the Missing God whom we shall not name. [...] The world has gone wrong, and we must put it right. March proudly beneath the eagle banner of the Aldmeri Dominion! "

Exactly, but many people here want to keep this secret.
Gear like classes has a serious balancing issue, how can you expect the game to better when you keep *** hidden.
Unless those players like to cheese others because of gear issues. That won't make them good imo just average if facing the same opponent with the standard gear.

No FF14
Pretty much the same thing. Don't you worry. ESO is joining them as one treadmill dungeon grinding game.
not the same thing, FF14 is 100 times better
- Better story quest
VaranisArano wrote: »Warframe has this option..... oh wait a much better game. My bad
Warframe has an inspect.
Warframe also has the basics on their group menu.
Warframe also has only 5 main slots, a lot less than ESO.
For the vast majority of content, all you'll really care about is that I'm running:
[Saryn Prime]
[Aura Mod]
[Ignis Wraith]
[Gilded Catchmoon]
[Whatever melee weapon I'm leveling]
Which you can see at a glance fron the menu. (Sort of like you can see what class and role I am in ESO at a glance at a menu, usually "Dragonknight" and "Tank").
And even then, I've gotten the "Why aren't you running the meta?" question from people in Warframe. I was greatly amused, because at that point I was the only one who hadn't died during the sortie while still defending the objective
There's a lot of content in Warframe and in ESO where it doesnt matter what you run as long as you get the job done.

Then, along came Gear Score. Run your cursor over a player and you got a score that was indicative of a player's gear level. And you used it to add (or not) someone to your dungeon run/raid.
That program, more than anything else, turned the player base toxic. This was about the time Ghostcrawler became lead developer.
